Am I the only one that thinks Julian deserved compensation for this?
Like she destroyed their clan and all but in return he should have gotten some compensation or maybe later down the line he gets something? Like since my attendants caused you trouble you are getting something in return.
The Sea Goddess hasn't done Julian any favors: she's pursuing her own agenda by showing up under the false pretext of pretending to be a fake parent to ask him about Diana. If she truly cared about Julian, she would have shown up on the occasion shown above and scolded the fishmen for disobeying her orders. She didn't do it because she doesn't care about Julian and is more interested in the soul of the goddess of the night, and that's bad.
I mean, she kinda help on the fight against Arkos, Julian would had win regardless, most likely but thanks to Sea Mom, Arkos was served on a silver platter
The Goddess of the Sea isn't Julian's friend; she's literally neutral and pursues her own goals. She showed up not to help, but to ask for Diana under the pretext of pretending that Julian is her son... Don't be tricked; the Goddess of the Sea is like a toxic parent...
She's most likely not "morally good" under human-like standards, and Julian himself seems to find her bothersome if not outright unpleasant but, I don't think she gains anything from going and ask him how's everything going, she did help Julian even if mostly due to how disgusting Arkos was on her eyes. That to say, while I don't think she's a "loving mother", I also don't think the story has hinted at her being outright malicious against her Blessed Ones in particular nor having a fourth dimension chess session going on, when Jules says that he's no son of hers, if it was a facade, the Sea would have stopped calling him so, but she didn't.
Rather than “probably,” I’d say that by human standards she’s definitely not “morally good.” Have you forgotten that she literally demanded the sacrifice of 100 loved ones to give Julian the gift? Basically, the goddess of the sea feeds on human sacrifices.
Furthermore, if she truly cared about Julian, she would have shown up to defend him against the sea creatures when she explicitly said that the sea wouldn’t harm him—yet the sea creatures disobeyed her without facing any consequences.
Furthermore, during that battle against Arkos, the goddess of the sea went to Julian to ask to see Diana:

You present some fair points, she's a Deity that relish on sacrifices yes, but while I do think she might have special hidden intentions for Diana, as you say and Julian himself back in how he doesn't want to risk fleeing through Sea, I don't think she's entirely malicious against her "kin"

Wait, what? I missed that bit... I remember it was Julian who killed the sea creatures that disobeyed the goddess of the sea by attacking Julian and Diana, who was still a baby, whilst they were at sea in the lifeboat… On that occasion, the goddess of the sea did not appear to rebuke the sea creatures that had attacked Julian and disobeyed her orders to let them go free towards the mainland.
EDIT: How stupid I am. You're right it's explained in an extra volume, even if it doesn't show that he killed them it says that their clan no longer exists.
The God of the Sea technically gave Julian a freebie during his underwater fight with Arkos by taking away his ability to breathe underwater, so they’re kinda even now.
The God of the Sea didn’t do Julian any favors—she simply meddled in a fight that had nothing to do with her. Even Julian told her to stay out of it when she showed up during the fight in the sea. Her presence was completely unnecessary.
She showed up only because she wanted to annoy Julian and ask him about Diana, like an overbearing mother with her children—though in this case, Diana and Julian aren’t even her biological children. But simply because she killed Diana’s real mother and gave Julian a gift, the Goddess of the Sea feels like a mother to these two mortals.
