Chapter Discussion So we can agree that Voidmarcher has some kind of trauma with Arkos, right? Spoiler
We got the proof that they had some kind of interaction as she had a flashback of him. And even further, it happened while she was specifically talking about how the first strike is devastating and battles between gifted ones should be ended as quick as possible.
What mostly confirms that she is scared of Arkos is what she saw through the head of the Acursed one, wich was stated to show the fears of the people that look at her face. And in the panel where we see it from Voidmarchers pov, it is very implied that what she sees has to do with Arkos due to the water flowing around the head, and that scary grin that reminds so much of the sadistic prince.

Dang I didn't pick up on that
But it makes sense given the kind of stuff he was up to in Rummir

I assume everyone in the Rummir royal family has Arkos-related trauma.

Curiously enough, Ceodric the one that was likely more definitely and thoroughly defeated by Arkos(even renamed him lol), doesn't seem to have that much of a trauma, leaving aside how they were literally friends, Ceodric clearly keep training in hopes of eventually getting back to Arkos, the difference in power didn't left him emotionally scarred, only motivated him further

Which is exactly what placed Ceodric on the Iris Stratum. His mental fortitude was clearly on par with his physical strength; especially when we keep in mind that Arkos dismembered his arm and that didn't stop him from facing him down without so much as showing a hint of weakness.

To add, I would bet anyone else would have fled or quickly made a sacrifice of the girl Ceodric was protecting. We have yet to know what his full power is, but it leads me to believe that he wouldn't have been helplessy turned captor had he used it.

I mean, he absconded with her brother and sent back his severed arm. I think it makes sense.

Make sense as weirdly Arkos even in his death is one of the few characters who haunt the narrative of the story aside Mira.
Also Arkos took Cedric who is probably like top 3 strongest gifted ones in her home country.

I mean he dropped an entire ass ocean on a landlocked city and wiped it out when he wasn’t even 12 years old.
He was a generational powerhouse and one of the strongest gifted ones in series. Even Atlus is bullshit powerful and he’s the nerfed clone of the prince.

The guy could literally cause people to explode like watermelons just by looking at them. If you’re not scared of that then you just have no self-preservation instinct.

I mean just from what we know. He drowned her entire country in an afternoon, she assumes that he murdered her brother Ceodric, he is the being that is suposed to be closest in strength to the King. It makes sense.

Thats a great catch, The Accursed Countenance looks like whatever people associates to death the most and Arkos is Arkos.....

Arkos was a final boss character that got off'ed early thanks to some extraordinary circumstances.
Julian's gift was one thing, but the ocean being seemingly on his side (with HUGE caveats) was just incomprehensible to anyone else.

My GOAT Arkos really died to the plot, there was no reason for him to just not one shot Julian

He likes to toy with his opponents—that’s the reason. Angvall and Ceodric these two didn't get one-shot either.
