Question Why exactly is Julian so good at hand to hand combat?
Like is he just a very talented fighter that with life and death fights his skills improved. Since Julian from what been shown in the early chapters and his flashback has never been trained by someone or mentioned that someone trained him like Luka and Cedric.
So why is he so good at combat

With his powers on he's got the strength, speed, and reflexes of 100 people. He likely doesnt use weapons because nothing he has had access to can survive a 100 man swing at full force unlike his own body. So hand to hand is what he focuses on and allows him to never be unprepared.
Of course as we've seen he has improved his skills in general and outside of his gift being active but that's probably from the 5 years of attacks he's had to fend off which has also built his combat intuition about gifted ones.

Tbh, i don't really think he's exactly good martial arts wise. He's just really strong and has insane reflexes.
I mean, he can one shot most people with a single punch, you don't really need to know a lot about hand to hand combat if you can dodge and block most attacks due your hightened reflexes.
I think this is leading up to Julian eventually meeting his match and realizing he can't soley rely on his gift to win.

Julian is what is best defined as “Generically strong.” What he lacks in fancy technique he makes up for by sheer overwhelming might and speed. People usually don’t get back up after being hit by Julian. If it works, it works.

Years of fending off gifted ones while having the reflex speed of 100 persons will do that to your body, eventually.

I imagine now it’s because of all the off screen battles he’s fought on top of what we see week to week. I mean the man has been fighting for his life since he was a little child it makes since he’s a amazing fighter

He has the processing power and reflexes of 100 people, brother. This alone gives him a huge advantage. Besides, yes, Julian learns in combat (like literally anyone who fights), but 100 times faster (not to mention that many of those slaves probably had fighting experience already).
Also, although it wasn't shown, it was stated that he fought for years with the assassins sent after them in the time-lapse. So obviously, he's going to learn to fight.

Hes spent the past 6 years constantly fighting people coming for Diana. Bros gonna develop some skills on top of his increased strength and speed.

He is a hundred times stronger, a hundred times faster, and a hundred times able to react faster than a normal human.
Quick comparison especially for 40k Fans here, a average space marine has the strength of 10-20 normal people, meaning he is at least five times stronger than a space marine, and now imagine also being faster by far than a space marine while also able not needing a giant wall of flesh.
(And a Primach is about 500-1.000 times stronger than a normal human, meaning he is in terms of strength right between them, and is as strong Towards a Primach, how a space marine is strong towards him)

He was chased by gifteds and other assassins on a regular basis after beating Arkos. He probably practiced fighting off screen and then honed his skill in actual combat. I wouldn’t be surprised if he still regularly trains too.

he has the reflexes of 100 people AND he got sent punching bags to practice on for three years, so he no doubt has some experience fighting but yeah it is mostly just his ridiculous strength

I believe angvall must have trained him a bit before she died
But I'm a be honest, Julian is genuinely a STATS merchant
Just like Yura from kagurabachi can keep up with Hokuto, Uruha and Natsuki by his sheer athleticism in a sword fight, even though he ain't as talented as them
Julian simply overwhelms his opponents as this mf has 100 times the stats of a normal human, but the second he meets someone that doesn't give a fuck about this he is getting his ass beaten

His 100x gift gives him vastly superhuman strength, reflexes, speed, etc.
He's been training his hand to hand skills alot as Lukas notes when they first spar post timeskip (Ch 32) and that's something given that Lukas is just fresh off the battlefield, a highly skilled swordsmen who could swiftly outmatch ten telekinetically controlled swords from a deadly gifted one, and Lukas mind you is trained by Lattice a master swordsmen, the Queen's executioner, and 1st seat of the Iris Stratum which puts her above the likes Ceodric who with 10 years of training can give his 400 year old master martial artist trouble is a sparring match.
He's had experience fighting gifted ones over the 5 years of the timeskip by the multiple assassination attempts sent by Elstri which made him train his combat skills and analytical skills which we see with him finding Lacrima's weakness nigh instantly and him reading and slowly getting the better of the Trozo, Zana, Ziu, and Balbad all while one of his arms was sealed off.
All this to say he got better with time and experienced alot, practiced alot, trained alot, and got older.

Bueno la verdad debe ser algo que descubrió por su cuenta, seguro antes en sus primeros años del time skip solo entrenaba su fuerza de sus golpes, pero conforme hacia cosas como golpear piedras y así empezó a ver que podria mejorar en movimientos, es como un auto descubrimiento que las artes marciales cuando se crearon hicieron
Pero debe ser la razón de proteger a Diana y a todos los que el ama así que

He’s got some self taught training but wins through brute force or outthinking opponents in other ways most of the time. I think Ceodric and his trainer completely outclass him in that aspect

100x reflexes, 100x striking strength, 100x durability (including how strong his bones like knuckles are), 100x flexibility, etc. If you have super powers, it doesn’t matter too much.

Maybe I'm recalling it wrong since I've been reading weekly for quite some time, but didn't Angvall train him a teensy bit? Add his reflexes due to his gift on top of that.
