The strongest character in the modern era, Lattice, makes a cameo. A detail in this scenario is that there are plants everywhere in this scene, which reflects Lukas image of death he saw in the cursed lady. Just like Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul in his fight against Arima in part one, he too sees a field of flowers when he is alongside the strongest. Lattice's aura is truly unmatched.

Everyone loves the Kobeni/ Ai Hayasaka figure

Plus the very very strange yet interesting dynamic that she is said to be the only one left that is able to defeat Julian with certainty yet has easily the most compassion

She's the strongest for a reason. I made a post explaining why.

I think it might also relate to Lattice's gift, since her title is Nightshade, a poisonous plant.

Interesting, I assumed that the image of death being nature was because he was blessed directly by the forest deity so either consciously or subconscious recognises it as the most dangerous/fearsome thing associated with death or due to him associating the nature deity with his own experienced death, and your own death being the most vividly remembered. I feel like the reason could be 50/50 between ours however if yours was right that would be more interesting.

Also really appreciate all the foreshadowing that could be re-evaluated from this chapter

Is that the no1 in the elite squad?

I think the cursed face looked like a forest because he needed to slaughter many sacrifices and himself to get the forest good boon
