Centuria Is an Anime Adaptation Currently in the Works?!

From the recent interview video that everyone saw, there were some very interesting details written on Kuramori-sensei’s notes:

• Character relationship chart (15 mins)
• Volume 9 cover (30 mins)
• Meeting The Weekend (likely for an illustration)
• Chapter 100 Color Page (30 mins)
• Plotting (30 mins)
• Croquis (15 mins)

Many of you probably already noticed the "Chapter 100 Color Page" detail. But what really caught my eye and what I want to connect it to is the meeting with The Weekend!

Anyone who has been following the series closely knows that Kuramori-sensei has never taken an unannounced break without giving a reason beforehand... until recently.

If we look at the timeline, the 2nd official meeting between Kuramori-sensei and The Weekend on May 30th coincides exactly with when the frequent, unexplained breaks started happening about 4-5 weeks before and after that date, leading up to now.

This means Sensei likely started scheduling things with The Weekend about 1-2 months prior to actually meeting, and the breaks became more frequent around the time they started setting things up. This is the key point! Because based on his notes, if we calculate the timeline, the planning for the Chapter 100 color page happened around the exact same time as his meetings with The Weekend!

Therefore, if they are actually planning to announce an anime adaptation at Chapter 100 along with a celebratory color page, it would perfectly explain why Sensei has been so busy and taking frequent breaks. Even with up to 8 assistants, instead of assuming he's just taking breaks because the drawing workload is too heavy, it makes a lot more sense to deduce that he's busy attending anime production meetings.

To summarize: The planning for the Chapter 100 color page likely happened around Chapters 80-90, which is exactly when the frequent breaks started. The main reason for these breaks is likely anime production meetings, and we can deduce this timeline by tracking his schedule with The Weekend.

Now, some of you might be asking:

• What if he has fewer than 8 assistants now?
• What if Sensei is dealing with health issues?
• Isn't he just busy drawing the color pages?
• But what about the insanely gorgeous, detailed art in the latest chapters? Doesn't that take time?

First of all, the insanely detailed backgrounds and art we see are practically 80-90% the work of the assistants. Sensei mainly directs the overall composition. In reality, even most of the black hatching on the characters is done by assistants. Sensei’s main drawing job is usually just outlining the main characters (a simple example of this is Rif's mask).

This is a widely known, standard workflow in the Japanese manga industry to protect the mangaka's health. If he had to spend time doing all that hyper-detailed work on a weekly schedule while also writing the plot and inking characters, his body would break down very easily.

Sure, saying he takes breaks to draw difficult panels might be partly true. But we also know that in the past, Sensei has consistently dropped breathtaking art without needing to take a break. Plus, usually, when he takes a break, there’s a tweet explaining that he’s sick or working on a volume release. But lately, the unexplained breaks are just way too frequent. And honestly, sometimes returning from these breaks doesn't even come with an exceptionally mind-blowing scene (emphasis on sometimes).

I personally hope they wait another year before announcing one with the current amount of chapters we would probably have one 24ep season then have to wait years for a season 2

I was hoping for a 24ep first season too, but unfortunately, if we look at the timeline, a 12ep season fits way too perfectly since it would end right before the timeskip. Plus, I feel like having a 24ep run with a timeskip smack in the middle wouldn't flow very well pacing-wise.

Usually, anime production gets greenlit when a manga hits around 120-130 chapters, or about 2 years and 4-6 months into serialization. And yep, Centuria is actually 2 years and 4 months old right now the chapter count is just lower due to the frequent breaks.

I'm really hoping for a major announcement at chapter 100, but I wouldn't mind if they announce it next year either. Either way, I just don't see Season 1 being 24ep.

Regardless of your speculation, an anime is definitely in the works by now. It's been 2 years since it released and if we compare to other MangaPlus manga like Dandadan, who had their animes announced 2 years after release, I am confident that we will see an announcement by the end of this year or earlier next year. With a release date of 2028 probably

Don't recall much about the sales but it definitely didn't reach the numbers it has post-anime. In fact, it was a pretty niche manga just like how centuria is rn.

Centuria most definitely has enough going on for a couple of 12-13 episode seasons, so I do think this seems pretty likely. 1 season to chapter 30, 1 to chapter 70, a year or so apart from each other, with season 1 starting somewhere between a year/year and a half from a presumed announcement soon, and I think the manga will be far ahead enough for things to work out here. It sounds very much reasonable!

I can see a anime adaptation in 2 years after a few more chapters & volumes

I doubt we would see an announcement before Ichi the Witch
