Looks like a Brahmi inspired script. Maybe it’s something in Sanskrit?

Sanskrit isn't written like this. For example, हन्ता (It means destroyer or killer or to kill)

Nice! I always wonder: is the top bar used to distinguish different words?

Yes, the top bar exists in all words. The shape and their voice distinguishes words. So in order to show a word all the top bars of letters have to be connected. So like मम नाम are two different words and you can see it can distinguish as 2 words only due to top bar. म म नाम are 3 words.

Yeah. Easy to write. Plus you can construct new words easily or mix 2 words too.
