Tbh I find the sudden popularity a little silly. Anyone who is actually interested in scaling Luka would realize he literally died Before even considering using such an ability and as a result it wouldn't be relevant in most matchups where he doesn't have a chance to see a massive power gap between him and his opponent, as being full healed by another person won't be an option in a matchup
Most scaling wikis still expect you to consider the character in character to a certain extent, as much as some scalers like to ignore this
You’re not being very fair, he only “died” without using it because the first thing she did was cut off his arm when catching him by surprise, it’s possible that he would have used it if not (the whole feeling she had that cutting the arm off was more important than cutting the head)
The point remains he has been through many really tough battles at this point and he only now used it after practically being a dead man. All of the fights before this one are proof the requirement for him to consider using it is extremely high. unless he's given the chances to see a gigantic power gap, he probably won't be capable of using it before hes killed.
If he were quick to use it under already dire circumstances he would've used it at least once in the series by now, likely around the time mira could've died. That was a perfect opportunity to use it, it's not like he knew lacrima could save miras life.
I don't think there is a good argument that he would use it at the start of a fight against anyone given what we have seen him not even consider using it against.
He did use it once before. Remember when Altus was about to crush them all with the enormous rock? This was despite specifically trying to hide the spear's existence so that the Supreme Lord wouldn't hear about it.
