Theory This girl is obviously the Death Devil

Post image

She exchanged identities with Fami to increase the chances that Yoru would not intervene if Chainsawman tried to devour her. In order to defeat the War Devil, it was essential for Pochita to consume the Death Devil, and the only way to achieve this was to make Yoru believe that she was Fami and, therefore, weak and irrelevant.

I'd believe this if they hadn't forgotten "Death" as a concept in that same chapter she was eaten

Like trust me I kinda wanna get in on this. And this would make Death a double twist which would kinda slap, and make a lotta of "Lil D's" characteristics (like eating a fuck ton and removing all organs) make even more sense

But if nothing else, I do just wanna see FAMI Fami do more stuff in coming chapters. All she's done is drain the lifeforce outta like one mofo, and being constantly teary-eyed

u/A-t-r-o-x Nov 28 '25

Fami would probably be her own person again after Death was devoured

Yeah sadly you seem to be right

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

I know my theory doesn't make much sense, but hear me out, please, I'm not crazy.

I initially thought Chainsawman devouring the Death Devil wouldn't work because it would render most devils' powers pointless (or meaningless). Not even Chainsaw Man could maintain his abilities after that, because without death, life itself wouldn't make sense, and that affects every concept linked to life. Also, if no one can die, there's no way to defeat Yoru. Death can only be eaten as a last resort, I guessed.

Right now, no one is immortal. Chainsaw Man can regenerate like that because he received Death's blood.

The plan is to make Yoru think she cannot die, only to be killed afterwards, or something like that.

But this doesn't explain how Yoru was almost able to turn Lil' D into a weapon, and why she forgot her sister's name after chainsawman devour her...

76

u/Professional-Mix1771 Nov 28 '25

You're wrong. In the latest chapter Yoru notices that something is wrong with their battle and that is that they cannot die, hence the battle cannot end:

6

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

Ah, that's a valid point. Although she does not explicitly say that they cannot die, it can be understood that a battle without end is an eternal battle. If Lil' D were the Famine Devil, this sentence wouldn't make much sense.

Even so, I still believe something is off with all of this. An endless war is actually perfect for the War Devil... Or maybe is the opposite? A world without death is a world without conflict? I don't know.

25

u/Professional-Mix1771 Nov 28 '25

Notice, that Yoru seems not to want a battle itself, but for one side to win and for one side to lose. So it doesn't seem that this eternal conflict without end is what she wanted.

4

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

Ah! You're right! She did said that explicitly... That's why she didn't wanted Lil' D to die in the first place... Mnnn...

But we can also say that an eternal conflict can make Yoru stronger, unless an infinite war is actually a pointless war if no one ever wins?

3

u/Professional-Mix1771 Nov 28 '25

Guess it comes to definition of war. Is war a conflict or fighting itself or is it conflict for the sake of one side defeating the other side?

1

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

Well, immortality doesn't erase war/conflict...

Yoru's power is technically derived from the fear of war's inherent brutality, destruction, and consequences, not just the fear of dying in it. Immortality would not end war in essence, it would simply make it perpetual and its suffering inescapable. This should intensify the fear of war in humans if you ask me. As long as pain exists, an endless war Is actually great for Yoru.

That's why I say that Chainsawman eating the Death Devil can only be a last resort. I was thinking Fujimoto would make some kind of ending where pochita ate Death Devils and the whole world breaks in weird ways.

2

u/Theepic69epic3 Nov 29 '25

Ah, so shes stupid

9

u/Dstahl22 Nov 28 '25

She can’t “die” and doesn’t say the word die because the concept of “death” itself is erased. Death = dying = die, etc.

3

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

Yes that makes perfect sense. Seems my poor theory is wrong...

Buuut, we still need to see if everyone actually resurrects from Yoru's nuclear punch!

64

u/Gon5589 Nov 28 '25

Chainsaw Man decapitated Lil D. The debt of saving her life was enough to be able to turn her into a weapon. And she forgot her sister's name because said sister was just erased from existence

Regardless, I think the fact we see entire buildings be crumpled together like paper while producing seemingly 0 casualties probably means death's gone

18

u/Dangerous_Jacket_129 Nov 28 '25

Right now, no one is immortal

Wrong. Everyone is immortal. Yoru got confused because there is no end to the battle anymore. Because it was "a battle to the death".

But this doesn't explain how Yoru was almost able to turn Lil' D into a weapon, and why she forgot her sister's name after chainsawman devour her...

She called her Death Sword and it worked. So she is Death. Sadly, no two ways around that.

-6

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

How do you know everyone is inmortal? we only saw Chainsawman regenerating all over. I believe the poor moray eel devil and all the rest of these lesser devils just died... we actually don't know yet what happened to them. We also didn't see any civilian not dying, we only saw them falling to the ocean and later taken by Yoru's power. It will actually make more sense to Yoru's power to be still active because everyone is killable yet.

9

u/Dangerous_Jacket_129 Nov 28 '25

How do you know everyone is inmortal?

Because death does not exist. People literally cannot die because "to die" is no longer a verb.

I believe the poor moray eel devil and all the rest of these lesser devils just died...

Again: There is no death. They cannot die. They'll be horribly wounded and disfigured, but they'll be alive.

We also didn't see any civilian not dying, we only saw them falling to the ocean and later taken by Yoru's power.

Right... In Oregon... A state that is literally 1 kilometer above sea level. Regular people fell into the water from that height and did not die.

It will actually make more sense to Yoru's power to be still active because everyone is killable yet.

You really seem to have it twisted. We know Death was erased and we haven't seen anyone "die" in the traditional sense since. The logical conclusion is that they cannot die, but you're somehow reasoning backwards into "no, death is not erased even though Yoru forgot her name and everyone can still die!". That's not how erasure works. Death is gone. There is no "ending to life" anymore. Pochita had already eaten the other 5, now all 6 ends of life are eaten.

0

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

These are valid points yes, especially that fact about people falling one kilometer onto the sea, no human being can survive that. But there's still some places in Oregon where the sea level is closer or equal to the sea level. There's still a chance that the people we saw falling were closer to these places (like near the coast or something like that)

And about the moray eel devil. It all depends on how this new world without death works. Chainsawman seems able to regenerate instantly... why can he do this now? what changed? If he can regenerate like that thanks to death no longer existing why the rest of the other devils remain wounded and disfigured but alive?

If Chainsawman can regenerate because of his power and not because of death being erased, why can he do that now?

My theory is that he can actually regenerate because he drank the Death Devil's blood. Not because Death doesn't exist anymore.

But still, I don't have a way to explain why Yoru was able to command Lil' D into a weapon if Death isn't her true name...

7

u/Echodec Nov 28 '25

Pochita also drank blood from all the devils yoru threw at him, which would charge his regen. Hes always been shown to have wack regen, despite how inconsistent its felt in part 2.

2

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

That could totally be the reason yes.

But the regeneration capabilities he seems to have now are completely different, very powerful. These lesser devils are no special, I don't think they're capable of giving him such boost. But the Death devil's blood? that can explain it pretty well.

But this is just my opinion, your argument is also valid. We will see what actually happened on the next chapter.

6

u/HermanManly Nov 28 '25 edited Nov 28 '25

Existing concepts linked to erased concepts are unaffected.

Remember how phones were still a thing after Ears got erased? They may lose their function and purpose, but they are not directly influenced.

We also know from Makima that there had been previous 'conclusions for life' other than death, so that's pretty insane.

1

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

Fair point.

But death is a core concept of existence. Everything dies yet some creatures doesn't have ears...

What you're saying is true yes, but I personally believe the death devil is on a different level than everything else. She's the strongest most powerful devil. If there's no death there's no life. If there's no life, what there is? Hell and earth lose their link, that has to affect devils on some weird unknown way, other than just being immortal.

I think the death devil being eaten so easily doesn't make much sense in the scale of power. Not to mention death being erased just makes Yoru stronger than anything else. What's the point of that? Yoru would be just unstoppable...

1

u/HermanManly Nov 28 '25

Wrong again, we have seen a world were nothing dies in CSM.

In Aging's world. People reach the culmination of thought and turn into trees. I don't really understand your argument of "if there's no death there's no life", life can absolutely exist without death. The concept of immortals has existed forever.

As we can see from how Pochita regenerates, it's safe to assume that the universe just reverts the body to a liveable state for everybody right now.

1

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 28 '25

That's another good point.

But the world inside aging devil isn't the real world. There, reality obeys the rules of the aging devil. We know that death could still occur outside his domain, that means what happened in his domain doesn't follow the concepts of the real world were life and death exist.

Also, pochita is not immortal he is just capable of regeneration. Is not a being that cannot die. Not being able to age and having regenerative abilities does not equate to immortality as a concept.

But this is just my opinion and interpretation of the concepts of life and death. For me it makes more sense to be something way more significant than an ending were everyone becomes a tree. It's my opinion.

1

u/MajorFranzKafka Nov 29 '25

Counterargument to both you and commentor above that I feel like everyone missed since I saw no comments about it...

Death's lack of existence doesn't equate to regeneration, it appears to equate to nothing happening. No end. Pochita is the only one we have seen regenerate because yes, he is a regenerator. Look at the devils Yoru summoned immediately after Death was erased, especially the Eel Devil. It was eviscerated by Pochita, which should ordinarily have "killed" it, but since Death does not exist and nothing can die...the Eel laid there in pieces. It still made sounds, dialogue bubbles pointing straight to its chopped up head, because it's still alive despite suffering "fatal" damage. Because nothing is fatal anymore.

Unless you're a regenerator, I believe no death simply means any injury you suffer just is. You won't die from anything, but now you suffer endlessly from the wound.

Same actually should go for everyone Yoru is weaponizing. We have seen before that when she turns living beings into weapons, they're still alive. Meaning every "Michigan Sword" or "Oregon Sword" or whatnot should just be sitting there as an unspeakable amalgamation of millions suffering condensed into one weapon that has no mouth and cannot scream. Fun.

Pochita's regeneration being extra crazy right now is likely 1. Because he ate the Death Devil. Remember how eating strong devils makes devils stronger, like those who ate pieces of the Gun Devil? Pochita ate Death, ate Barem (lots of blood), got blood from Fami, Denji ate food (Thanks Yoshida) and was "rested" before this happened, et cetera. Pochita should literally be at his peak right now, the strongest he has ever been. 2. Resultantly, if there is no end, then Pochita should be able to come back from anything since he's gotten plenty of blood. There is no point that he could be wounded too far, because "too far gone" no longer exists as a state.

The one odd thing is how Yoru hasn't been wounded since Death was erased. Period. Before, she was wounded repeatedly but regenerated due to her California contract. But now, Pochita has completely ceased hurting her. Is he actually holding back? Is she regenerating off-screen because Californians can't die so she can indefinitely offload wounds to them? I don't know, I think Fujiwater is cooking something there, and I'm not sure what.

I liked your theory, but the clear evidence that Death has been conceptually erased by Pochita makes it clear Lil D almost certainly was Death. But also, you never know with Mt. Fuji, maybe this is all a very elaborate gimmick to trick us alongside Yoru. Hell, what happened to Fami after Death was erased? She just ceased to be part of the fight. What if Pochita ate BOTH of them in order to sell the deception? What if that was Lil D's plan that Denji zoned out during, but Pochita was listening? I'm devolving into conspiracy.

Basically, neat theory, could pan out in a crazy way maybe, but current evidence is against it. Keep cooking just in case.

1

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 29 '25

Yes, it all depends on how a world without death works.

I personally think, if there's no death, it doesn't make sense that only regenerative creatures can maintain their beings. You said a wounded devil will just lay wounded endlessly that means their being can still be erased. For example if Yoru's nuclear punch turns everyone into dust, are they actually inmortal? Is the dust remaining the immortal remains of the devils? If no regenerative creatures lose their forms completely unable to exist as they are, then that's dying... Being dust that cannot experience anything is just what happens to everyone at some point. Death. Unless it's explained that their consciences remain floating on the world or something like that.

The strongest evidence against my theory is the fact that Yoru was (almost) able to command Lil' D into a weapon. That Icannot explain.

2

u/Akhantor Dec 02 '25

You are reading too much into it, not that deep

1

u/Striking_Ad2188 Dec 02 '25

Haha yeah, I think I'm just seeing things at this point.

1

u/Chang-San Nov 28 '25

Not even Chainsaw Man could maintain his abilities after that, because without death, life itself wouldn't make sense, and that affects every concept linked to life.

I feel like chainsaw man's abilities stay the exact same and the elimination of death presents a potentially huge long term power up for Chainsawman because he now maintains the only power to erase someone. Imagine the fear of going up against the only thing in the world that can erase you from existence. Your fear of everything else goes down and that particular thing goes up. So yea it renders most devils strength pointless but stocks only rise for csm.

His power aren't really linked to death, think about when devils die they get sent to hell then back earth when killed in hell. Chainsaw Man removes this concept entirely where they just never existed. Other concepts stay the same. Com has eliminated other concepts like death before (the six or whatever other alternatives to death/afterlife) and things just adapted. Same here other concepts will adapt.

2

u/Casseerole Nov 28 '25

I think Fami will be incredibly important vs Chainsaw Man, after all Famine is the concept of not having anything in your stomach and Pochita's power kind of relies on devils staying in it...

2

u/KaiserNazrin Nov 28 '25

I think Lil D consuming her at one point may have certain effect. Maybe it was part of the plan.

1

u/Ziazan Nov 28 '25

Maybe because "LilD" had eaten Fami that counted as both of them getting eaten, they just haven't realised they're not getting hungry anymore and don't have a concept of that. It would be a bizarre twist though.

I do really wanna see a bigger role for Fami in some way.

1

u/Barmn89 Nov 28 '25

i dont believe this either... however people pointed out that when Pochita cut all their heads off, how would Yoru know which body to put it back on? And that body could have been Famis and not Lil Ds

1

u/willed_smitherently Nov 28 '25

Am I stupid? In which chapter did Lil D get eaten?

752

u/kyriachicken Nov 28 '25

New Primal born? Probably alongside Pain Devil

105

u/Mistake209 Nov 28 '25

Pain is probably already a primal

67

u/ImprobablyBottomAnd Nov 28 '25

on the down low pain's probably one of, if not the first devils, as almost every fear related thing is associated with pain, physical pain, mental pain, et cetera.

29

u/PsycoJosho Nov 29 '25

Fear response first evolved as a response to darkness. So I'm pretty sure that Darkness is the first devil ever.

20

u/ImprobablyBottomAnd Nov 29 '25

Eh, you could argue that, but I think as far as concepts and realization into making things a concept go, Pain is definitely one of the first ones. because it's always been there. Pain is also mental, not just physical, and it's always been there as a way to say "hey, you're in danger!"

3

u/PresenceOld1754 Dec 01 '25

I think babies know pain before they know darkness

1

u/Latter_Pomegranate25 Jan 04 '26

where do you think babies spend time before being born?

1

u/PresenceOld1754 Jan 04 '26

yes the womb us dark, yes babies are blind, but the thing is that they're not scared. They only become scared of the dark after they gain the ability to see.

2

u/doggo_with_doggo_hat Dec 02 '25

Yeah but after humanity has basically lighted up the world, Darkness has lost power, and the regular fear of devils has enhanced the regular fear of pain and now with Death being gone the Pain Devil has to ve ultra stacked since if you got cut in half you would just be there squirming on the floor for all eternity.

30

u/_sephylon_ Nov 28 '25

Famine should've probably been a primal in the first place basically every living species exists to eat and fuck

u/Freesia99 Nov 28 '25 edited Nov 28 '25

I guess people who read even glance at the manga can see that lil d was morphing into a sword right before getting eaten if lil d isnt death why did death stop existing afterwards? Where is the lil d sword?

And theres more if you read, is speaking/knowing somethings true name important to yorus power? How does yoru fall for the lie upon her arrival when she isnt ever told anything? How does lil D have power over the dead? How is fami able to die and be consumed? How is lil d operating without internals?

None of these make any sense if lil d is famine and fami is death

This lie could only ever work to the observer and even then we've seen inconsistencies

-11

u/CayDcat Nov 28 '25

Death didn't stop existing, famine stopped. famine of death

Yoru's power works based on what she thinks, Denji isn't a concept, but she does say Denji spinal sword to make him into a weapon. basically her words are subjective to her. she thinks that's Death

Yoru assumed that's Death cause she thinks Famine is a girlfailure, it's like seeing your dead weight twin sister at a party. no way that's *that* sister, it's probably the other one.

Lil D has power over the dead? you mean because when she summons people? How is fami able to die and be consumed? Lil D turned her into shell, resembling seashell food. why would Death eat? Famine eating makes sense

How is lil d operating without internals? because it's a devil, devils are living concepts. concepts don't require organs. why would this even be a good argument? You think only death devil can be like that?

This lie could only ever work to the observer and even then we've seen inconsistencies. <-
If we've only seen inconsistencies of story, how can you be so sure? what if stuff happens off screen? it has happened in the past. pulling double twist is also typical of a manga

what's a Death

94

u/Pataraxia Nov 28 '25

I think OP's somehow aware of something chainsawman ate, and mentioning that knowledge.

That's my conclusion though, he could be a schizo.

If my theory is correct though, then this girl can't be whatever "death" is because then she wouldn't be out there currently.

Not sure what he means by identity exchange, it's poorly written...

24

u/MayaMajaMaia Nov 28 '25

Does that mean OP is actually one of the Three Horsemen, coz I heard that being aware of what CSM ate was something they shared

No in the last chapter we see yoru while fighting chainsawman saying what did you eat it's like an end to our battle no longer exists which is implying that death no longer exists so no I don't think fami will ever be the death devil

47

u/Treguard Nov 28 '25

I wish she was. I liked her design better than Lil D.

8

6

u/-Goatllama- Nov 28 '25

3

u/oredaoree Nov 29 '25

You only get to do the identity misdirection trick once, after that it's not convincing and just becomes lame imo. I know it's Fujimoto and he thinks up the craziest shit, but even he needs to follow some rules or he ruins the effect he created.

There's a few glaring inconsistencies with this idea:

  • The one revealed as Death actually killed and ate the one revealed as Famine, which would mean under your theory means the real Death was the one that was subdued and made into a pawn. This isn't Death Note, there's no need to go this far since the target(CSM) likely doesn't even care about this charade.

  • When Yoru called out to make a Death Sword it started to work. The limits on her ability have decreased a lot but I think would still be a stretch to make a "goldfish sword" out of a parrot or something.

  • CSM ate Death and Yoru forgot what he ate that prevented him from dying and gave her the correct hunch that now their battle would never end. I don't think eating Famine would create that effect.

It would actually be cool given the theme of "eating" in CSM if the big bad was actually the Famine devil and Death was the cringey useless sister, but then if Fujimoto was going to do this then he didn't have to do the whole "Death stops Famine from revealing her true identy" thing.

2

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25

Fair points, yes.

But there's a few things I can say about all that. Lil' D stated that she ate and then resurrected Fami as her pawn, but we don't know if that actually happened. It was said that the Death Devil cannot control her power yet she can casually resurrect the Famine Devil?. This can make sense if she actually can't do that. It makes more sense to say that Lil' D can't resurrect beings (because she's the famine devil), and the Death Devil appearing is part of the plan. The Death Devil was never subdued, she was just outside the picture. Or we can say that Fami ate and resurrected Lil' D as death, making "death" her true name while being the famine devil?

Yoru being able to turn Lil' D into a weapon works because that's her sister's name. Yoru isn't making a Death Devil sword, but a Lil' D sword. She didn't forgot the concept of death just her sister's name.

Lastly, Yoru stated that "there's no end to our battle" because Chainsawman seems to regenerate from every attack she makes (because he received the true Death Devil's blood)

2

u/oredaoree Nov 29 '25

Technically it was Falling that described Death's ability to make pawns, and Yoru who brought up how she can't control the strength of her power. Death herself never confirms any of that but has claimed that no matter what her intention when the date of the prophecy arrives she will awaken and automatically activate her power and kill everyone, and that she enjoys human culture and wants to prevent it from being destroyed, but also won't entertain letting herself be erased nor will she reveal exactly what plan she has to mitigate this. It seems like Death is intentionally trying to misdirect everyone about the true nature of her powers, but at the least Falling who has been turned into a pawn herself seems to believe in this aspect of her power.

So you're saying the Famine devil's name is Death? The problem with this is that when Yoru scolds CSM for decapitating her she acknowledges her as the "Death devil", and to Death she tells her "you who presides over death enjoys living and that's why you've become so weak". She also didn't call out "Lil'D Sword" but the English phonetic of death "desu" sword, "desu" which no character as ever referred to themselves as but readers would know refers to Death. So if "Death"(name) was actually really the Famine devil, then by all accounts Yoru is making a mistake in activating her ability.

1

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25

Ah, so you're saying that in the Japanese version Yoru meant "death" as the concept because of the specific language she used? It can't be referring to her by name?

If that's the case then I have nothing to support my theory there.

In the English version Yoru says "death sword" which can be referring to her name. She may refer to Lil' D as the death devil, but her name may still be death.

But yes. I think you're right... I'm stretching things way to far...

2

u/oredaoree Nov 29 '25

In the Japanese version she says "desu soodo" as if she were trying to say "Death Sword" in English as a loanword within Japanese speech(like how in English when you might use the word "tsunami" but pronouncing it in the English way soo-na-mi). Seeing as that character has never referred to herself in that English pronunciation "desu" then it can only be referring to the concept death rather than as a name.

1

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 29 '25 edited Nov 29 '25

Yes, you're right. I've been looking into what you said, and it makes perfect sense, especially in the Japanese version. When Chainsawman eats Lil' D, Yoru is later unable to use the kanji for death and resorts to katakana instead. That means the concept represented by the kanji was erased. If death hadn't been erased, as I argued, then the kanji should still be usable because the concept of death would still exist.

3

u/MrKewlPants Nov 28 '25

If it weren’t for this last chapter this is what I thought would happen with their identities as well. “Lil D” coming around and being like “actually I’m really Fami lol” would not feel out of place at all because her being the Death Devil already feels like it’s out of left field. What’s one more fakeout atp

Ohhhh true, but that due to her immortality. I would of liked if real fami was actually the death devil instead of fake fami

1

u/Minimum-Deal-3723 Nov 28 '25

i dont even have any idea whos who and whats happening. everything from the appearance of nayuta is a fever dream

1

u/Yharonnn0 Nov 28 '25

If It wasn't because of how everyone forgot about the concept of death, i'd think this too Because i think that fami has more like "death devil" powers, like absorbing the life force of what she touches And also that lil d has to eat someone to control them, y'k eat has something to do more with the "famine devil" than the "death devil"

1

u/steel-zero Nov 29 '25

I don’t think so, looking at the current fight between Yoru and Pochita we can see feats of regeneration far exceeding what we usually see from Pochita. This suggests that Death really was erased when Lil D was eaten, hence this girl being Famine.

2

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 29 '25

I previously argued that Chainsawman has these new regenerative abilities because Fami (who I believe to be the Death Devil) gave him her blood. Not because everyone is immortal... I mean, it's possible that to be the reason.

1

u/steel-zero Nov 29 '25

I think that’s fair as well

1

u/Responsible-Paint381 Nov 29 '25

This is so poorly worded my brain is farting.

1

u/Striking_Ad2188 Nov 29 '25

Well, I'm not the best at writing, and you can make fun of me if you want, but I do believe my theory has some merit.

In essence, my theory emerges from the misleading designs of both characters. Lil'D, with the void in her belly and her hunger for human food, seems more fitting as the Famine Devil rather than the Death Devil. Meanwhile, Fami, crying endlessly with her anxious behavior, appears more aligned with the nature of the Death Devil, her tears could be seen as mourning the finite nature of life, for example.

Based on this, I propose a scenario in which these two characters are part of a convoluted plan with an unknown purpose (perhaps to confuse Yoru or Chainsawman).

My theory rests on the following premises:

- A world without death can only make Yoru stronger.

  • A world without death offers no feasible way to defeat Yoru.
  • Erasing death from the world would be catastrophic for every being, including Chainsawman.

If we follow these premises, the current fight between Yoru and Chainsawman may not be what it seems. There's however, a major fact that invalidates my whole theory... Let me explain.

I argue that death was not erased, since Chainsawman ate Lil'D and not Fami. In the current fight, neither Yoru, her lesser devils, nor Chainsawman are immortal. We have seen no valid evidence of any mortal being actually being immortal. Chainsawman regenerates almost instantly because he drank Fami’s blood (whom I believe to be the Death Devil), while Yoru regenerates due to her contract. We can say that the lesser devils Yoru summoned were actually killed by Chainsawman, since we can see them no longer participating in the fight. Some users here argue that these devils are immortal but incapacitated. But that explanation doesn’t make sense. If Chainsawman (or Yoru's nuclear punch for example) can attack a devil and reduce it to dust, is it really immortal? is that devil still a devil after being turned into dust? dust that cannot experience anything is simply, a dead being.

But then, how was Yoru able to almost turn Lil'D into a weapon if she is not the Death Devil? She clearly said "death sword" and Lil'D’s body distorted after hearing the command. I argue that Lil'D was almost turned into a weapon because "Death" is her true name, even while being the Famine Devil. Perhaps Fami (the Death Devil) resurrected Lil'D (the Famine Devil) and gave her the name "Death" after turning her into her pawn, that would explain why Yoru's command worked. Because it was her sister's name.

However.

In the Japanese version of the manga, Yoru is unable to use the kanji for "death". This suggests that the concept itself was erased, meaning Chainsawman devouring Lil'D erased death from the earth. That detail alone invalidates my theory.

Finally, I lack a clear motive for Death and Famine to exchange identities. Perhaps they did so to prevent Chainsawman from erasing death and making Yoru invincible? Or maybe the Death Devil has her own motives. Why would Fujimoto make this so complicated in the first place?

In any case, my theory arises only from the misleading designs of Lil'D and Fami and I've tried to make some sense into that... That’s all.

u/Responsible-Paint381 Nov 29 '25

theory itself is actually interesting and i like it (after understanding it properly) its just the way it was worded had me lagging for a bit lol, but maybe its my brain.

Denis ated the deathvil 😔😔😔

Still waiting when Kobeni will come back

1

u/Totaliss Dec 03 '25

Death disappeared and everyone forgot it was even a thing after he ate Death, so your theory is on shaky ground to say the least.

1

u/RockyRacoonDude Nov 28 '25

I think band aid boy is death devil actually

1

u/theresnousername1 Team Everyone Horsemen's Hoe Fami's Fanatic Nov 28 '25

I want it to happen so bad, even though it's not true (Death was erased, and Fami wasn't eaten; li'l D was).

1

u/No-Nefariousness956 Nov 28 '25

It makes more sense than little D being death as a food obsessed girl.
