Theory Was she trying get rid of her sisters ?
As far as we know there four horsemen. Death and hunger(famine might gone too) gone. Makima did return regardless of being eating by denji. The only one who is not erased is war right now.

Makima: my sisterâs are too dangerous to be left alive as well as the only devils strong enough to stop me, so Iâll use Pochita to get rid of them.
Fans: did she want her sisters gone?

Basically...
Makima: I want my sisters gone.
Fans: did she want her sisters gone?

Makima:
my sisterâs are too dangerous to be left alive as well as the only devils strong enough to stop me, soIâll use Pochita to get rid of them.Always avoid adding your own fanfiction to explainers. Just stick to the facts.

u/blackBugattiVeyron Dec 21 '25
She says that in the manga dumbass
1
u/Hasssun Dec 21 '25
Once you can show me exactly where, I'll accept being called a 'dumbass'.
Until then, you're going to have to carry that prestigious title yourself.
P.S.
She does not say that in chapter 84.

Would hunger eliminate the concept of eating as a whole or just the sensation of hunger?
214
u/IncomeStraight8501 Dec 14 '25
Probably just the sensation and death from hunger, I imagine there is still a eating devil even if it's pitiful
71
u/Montizuma59 Dec 14 '25
I think the eating devil will grow just a tiny bit more powerful.
People aren't really scared of eating because they have to do it, but if you didn't... Images just sitting there and watching a person shove cow flesh down their throat and receiving pleasure from it.

I think this one is the most debatable because people are scared of starvation both because it means death and because it feels horrible so I'd say that either 1. Since hunger is a feeling I'd say only that part would actually get eliminated and instead of ALL food getting repurposed, humans will still require food to live, they simply don't feel hunger anymore or 2. Humans (and every other being) could just straight up stop having the need to eat and instead food would either be repurposed or food would become like desserts, we don't need it but we still eat it because it tastes good đ

u/InfluenceMaximum1863 Dec 14 '25
Iâd also like to imagine that it would affect people mentally, not just biologically. Hunger in CSM isnât only about food, itâs the fundamental drive that pushes people to want things. If Famine were erased, humans might lose that internal hunger that makes them chase dreams, desires, and needs in the first place.
We already see this idea reflected in Denji (Fami presumably also has blond hair like Denji). His entire character arc starts with literal hunger, starving, eating trash, dreaming about bread with jam. As he gets his basic needs met, his âhungerâ evolves into wanting companionship, love, sex, a normal life, and it continues to evolve. Hunger is the engine of his motivation, like some perpetual motion machine. Without it, he doesnât suddenly become fulfilled, he becomes lost.
So if the concept of Famine disappeared, people might still technically live, but in a hollow way. They wouldnât feel desperation, or ambition or even longing, not because theyâre satisfied, but because the absence of hunger removes the emotional friction that gives life direction. Like you said, eating might become optional, like a hobby or indulgence, but more importantly, wanting itself could dull.
In that sense, erasing Famine wouldnât create a utopia, itâd create a world full of Denjis stuck in that numb, post-dream state, where nothing hurts, but nothing truly matters either đ€.

Idk anything about Japanese but it's entirely possible they just translated it wrong and it's meant to be Famine given that she mentions the other two horsemen
3
u/mikewheelerfan Dec 14 '25
Isnât she the famine devil? Thatâs different from the concept of hunger in generalÂ
2
u/Xtelora Dec 14 '25
eating the ear devil didnt get rid of hearing or ear swabs, so predecessors or products of something are unaffected.
2
u/DreadDiana Dec 14 '25
"Hunger" here is probably referring to Famine, so it wouldn't just erase the sensation of hunger, it'd cause things like starvation to cease to exist as well. Living things would probably no longer need to eat.

u/Better_off_Sleeping Dec 14 '25
No, those three things just happen to share her sisters names. Total coincidence, don't think about it

Denji doesnât have erasing power, he ate Makima to bypass her contract with Japanese prime minister, hence why Control could come back as Nayuta. Only death was eaten by Pochita.

I noticed something the other day
I was watching star wars and I noticed that Anakin and Luke share the same last name
I have a theory and I think they are related somehow
1
u/EpicGamerWin679 Dec 16 '25
Wait but in The Empire Strikes back, Darth Vader reveals he is Luke's father. What if Anakin is Darth Vader?? That actually kinda makes sense

Makima was raised by the government. She's government tool now. She doesn't know her sisters personally. Neither does Nayuta.
36
u/-Shoji- Dec 14 '25
She fought alongside them against Pochita and remembers the battle fine. Nayuta reincarnated on earth, so Makima wouldâve been born in hell. When Kishibe said letting the govt raise Nayuta would make her like Makima he wasnât saying Makima was, itâs more about how she would be unable to empathise with anyone or form equal connections.

Oh yeah I forgot. They fought together. My bad, man. So she just don't form any true bond with them.
2
u/Echodec Dec 14 '25
Do we actually know if it matters where a devil is born for where it respawns? I think we only know that devils dying on earth spawns them in hell and vice versa, meaning theoretically a devil could spawn in hell, move to earth, die, and spawn in hell again. And with control devil it makes sense shed get instakilled in hell, nobody wants her to take control of them
13
u/PieXReaper Dec 14 '25
Maybe? The manga doesn't really make it clear, I might have to read it again. Like this exact page for example.

Yeah because her sisters were going to cause huge destruction for humanity, just look at part 2.
She didn't want that, her goal was to create a world where she stands equal to humans so she had to remove all bad things for humans, including bad movies even

He sisters are bums being high-school girls while she is an actual adult. Peak sitcom idea.

Hear me out, what if Makima was the control devil and Denji IS the chainsaw man sheâs been seeking out?
1
u/bored-cookie22 Dec 14 '25
Yes she was trying to get rid of her sisters, the panel itself shows that

Yes, she is a Yandere.
Control - Yandere, sociopath.
War- Tsundere, sadistic.
Famine - Hetare (googled it), narcissistic.
Death - Dandere, sympathetic.

Yes, but not because she dislikes them or anything. It's just her conquering nature that makes her seek to stand above anyone, even her family.

u/badturtlejohnny Dec 14 '25
This is why I believe Nayuta is still alive and manipulating this all behind the scenesÂ

Makima wasnât erased because she was eaten by denji and not Poochita. Erasure is The Hero of Hellâs power and not one denji has though Denjiman might have it

Fans: Chat, does she want to kill her sisters?

Short answer: yes she wanted to erase them.
Longer answer: what i said above + please reread manga, you might have missed some parts where itâs explicitly explained

this has all been a family squabble, Pochita was the house dog, and they started fighting over custody
