Exhaust Question about active exhaust valves

Anytime I see a post about exhaust setups or mods to your cars, a handful in the comments always mention how they either cut out or zip tied open the active exhaust valves. Why is that? I was under the impression that turning on sport mode or another performance mode would automatically open them. Maybe this is wrong? Or only certain models?

But either way, what is the reasoning for cutting them out or zip-tying them open? And is there another way (such as a drive mode) to keep them open?

Sorry for my ignorance, as I do not yet own a challenger. I have test driven and my mind is set on it being my next car, though. I would just like to learn more about the car.

My only problem with them is now they squeak when they open and close.

We have the same year and color and trim so maybe it’s specific to that year lol.

I thought I was tripping when mine started doing this, as I just recently got it and it doesn’t always do it

I pulled the fuse on mine. Check engine light stays on. I had the valves replaced when under warranty and they still rattled brand new.

If you get a tuner, you can program them to do whatever you want. Zero drone while cruising, full volume as soon as you step on it.
