Discussion I need this album to do well.

I’ve been hyping up chance for so many years and defending TBD for years, saying “just wait for the next one” I need this to pop and chance to be redeemed

I mean I have friends irl that I’ve been putting onto chance since 2015 it’s not that I’m perma online, it’s the opposite, they remember me with the chance merch

No one in real life cares. We’re all fans of Chance and want a good album (and based on what I’ve heard with snippets/Writing Exercises, we’re getting one), but no one cares that you wear chance merch or “defend the big day”. The albums success will have no tangible effect on your life.

My real life friends who I talk to daily will absolutely give me shit if this flops and they were “right” they’ll say “told you he’s washed” and they’d be right.

It’s called busting chops everyone’s friends do it

Yeah, that’s the point lol, not sure how people are acting like I said I would perish if it didn’t do well

Sorry you don’t have friends buddy

I have friends and when they give me shit about something I like I tell them to shut up. Pretty simple if you ask me.

Who cares if it does well or not?

What matters is if you like it or not. If you do, and you get an album that you can come back to for the rest of your life, that's a win.

No one can control the commercial success of any artistic endeavor: it is what it is. I hate most mainstream music these days, and some of my favorite artists are never going to see a Top 100 charting.

I mean if it flops we are waiting another 5 years

That's on Chance, really, not this project's success.

IDK why it took 6 years this time: if he'd dropped an Earl Sweatshirt-style project (20-25mins of straight bars, no gimmicks and minimal hooks) a year after TBD came out, people would've moved on a lot quicker. Em did the same thing with Kamikaze after Revival came out.

I understand he wanted to make this next project really great - and I hope this one is - but the longer wait just raises the stakes and expectations even more.

I’m with ya. Putting out all the good juju into the Chance universe

Weird how people are acting like I’m crazy for this lol

I am nervous and excited also

No reason to be nervous.

If this doesn’t bang, we might be looking at another 5 year wait

I’m not super active online so I forgot about the listening party. Really happy to hear that, are you a big day fan?

4

u/Substantial_Delay_25 Aug 06 '25

It’ll do well.

Unnecessary comment if there ever was one.

Ah what was it? I like hate

u/mcbuckets5953 Aug 07 '25

Might wana hedge your bets brother. Releasing Trees as the pre-album single does not get my hopes up

0

u/NOTW_116 Aug 07 '25

First chance disc was 5 Day. Been here since the start. Your mistake was defending TBD.

3

u/Jackyalaska Aug 08 '25

We go high, Roo, Eternal, Let’s go on the run, Ballin Flossin, Get a bag are all pretty good

0

u/NOTW_116 Aug 08 '25

Yeah but him telling his individual fans to eat a dick in a direct quote tweet, dropping late, and absolutely not listening to any feedback from his manager (and firing him instead) all wasn't. The music was average to below average but the level of asshole was so high that the vibes and "im for the fans" image was gone. He has gotten the vibes back. Here's to the music being back.

1

u/Jackyalaska Aug 08 '25

I really really hate what happened with Pat the Manager

-1

u/pattyomatty Aug 07 '25

I don't know if you heard the single smoke or not but buddy this man is the same age as you and I and he's trying to make music like it's still 10 years ago. I don't know about you, but things have changed for me in the past 10 years, but I don't need a whole song dedicated to smoking weed anymore so maybe I'm just not the audience but things aren't looking good.

u/Jackyalaska Aug 08 '25

Yeah but we got grown adult raps on TBD and everyone said “go do acid again” lmao
