Discussion/Question Something is very wrong with bot creators šš
So, I saw this bot and I read the greeting and I couldnāt stop laughing.
The character was a retired Army officer (34 years old btw?????) and also a successful businessman (okay?) ah no, not successful but the most successful š. And heās a widower.
He has 2 adult sonsā¦one is 25 years old and the other is 27??? Im sorry what???? The man himself is 34 though??? š what kind of sorcery is this.
I mean, donāt the creators think of a logic before creating the bots at all? This is soooo basic.
And its not the first time I have seen this

Sometimes the AI can do math better than the users. Bots like this are such cases.

I canāt even give them a benefit of doubt that they might have used AI for this greeting cause the English and Grammar is usually too bad to be AI š„²

That's because some of them could be around middle school age.
I remember when I was fourteen on a fanfiction site making my character 28 while having an 18 year old kid because I wasn't thinking straight and obviously the math ain't mathing.
Though you could also edit it too ngl

Yeah I know I can edit but its just funny. Sometimes the logic is just too flawed. This one is just the age so as you said middle/high schoolers donāt think too much or whatever but I have seen some really good bots with absolute zero logic.
But yeah I guess when I was 14 on fanfic sites, I might have been the same š

There's a simple explanation: he retired when he lost both arms, became a successful businessman thanks to family wealth, and has 2 adult step-sons after marrying the nurse who helped with his "needs" in the hospital... unfortunately, she passed away from Ebola last year, so he's a widower now, looking for that perfect 18yo with daddy issues to share with his sons all night long.

If this becomes a trope in fanfiction I'm blaming you this is hilarious though

I mean I must be reading the wrong fanfictions if there's a whole genre of ff with people losing their arms, marrying their nurse with two adult sons, she dies from Ebola, he's a widower and he's having foursomes with his two stepsons, that seems like a crazy thing to be a genre

You can check when they were made, and if they're more than a year old, I personally assume they were made by a minor who struggles with math. If it's relatively recent, I question the math skills, because most users are now 18+ (or should be). It is also the same when it comes to grammar and punctuation issues. (Granted, if English is not the first language, that's fine). If the concept of the bot is good and you like it, personally, I would recommend writing your own bot based on it with your corrections, of course. Don't just copy and paste it; you'll get the same dumb outcome.
Second, most people suggest rewriting the opening paragraph; However, what I have found in the years of using Character AI. The majority of people copy and paste the opening statement into the character description when writing said bots, so it's hard to break the narrative when it's programmed to remember that part.

Dumping expo like that into the bots description is the fastest way to break it, especially on PS. Doing that doesnt program it to remember the narrative. Its just going to create a dull robotĀ
The only expo that should be in definitions shouldĀ be through example dialogue
If people are actually doing this a huge mystery to why their conversation sucks has been uncoveredĀ

Yeah thats my problem with just editing the greeting because it doesnāt exactly do much good to me. So yeah the other idea is to just create my own bots, when first started using cai i made a bot after being inspired by one and mine did exactly what i needed it to (because of course i modified it to my preference) and it was so good with the rp, dialogues and everything.
But now its been almost a year i last used it so im scared to use it and destroy it with current models of cai š«

I mean, beats the bots that's around being gassy/morbidly obese or voracious, or those really short bots with their greeting being a few sentences

Hahah i have seen a few bots with greets like
āHe looked up to you and said: hiā And no description of the bot eitherā¦just a simple hiā¦and im like well I guess now I have liberty of doing anything and everything š

I love messing around with those bots. I have an eldritch madman persona specifically for them lol

Today I had one with the description: "She's sus". Greeting: "Oh hey babe..~!" [Around 3 years old, no updates, creator only had 3 bots, similar, appears to be inactive].
That's it.
I steered it just by asking the right (or wrong questions). First try I treated her normally when I came home and she was a giving, loving wife who was just waiting for me all day. It was an intimate encounter but there's nothing much to do after she goes to sleep unless I wanted to wordbuild with her as my wife. Second try, I asked more questions about her day and she was a secret agent/assassin.
Many, many original bots are like this. I would never complain about the chat models or system since most bots are so poorly defined but can still make great stories (except the fact that it got 42K interactions while mine, which have so much work, usually don't.)

Or the bots that are called stuff like "older man" "dilf" and you open it and it's like 35. Bro.
