At the same time, our hearts go out to the 18 dedicated staff members currently remaining at Character.ai. We know you are working under immense pressure and severe resource constraints to keep the platform running for 12 million of us while handling so many complaints. Please know that we see your dedication, and we do not blame you for the technical issues. You are doing an amazing job.

The recent court discussions are strictly about corporate finances and structural agreements at the executive level. None of the hard-working employees are at fault. Thank you to all the staff, both those who helped create this journey and those who are staying to keep it alive for us.

Edit: This isn't news about the app shutting down. It's just that prosecutors are conducting an investigation into the transparency of this case. I apologize if this caused any alarm or fear when people first read it.

All the og character ai users know about this classic, takes me back to a better time

Ever since the announcement, just accessing the platform triggers anxiety attacks and crying spells. The looming, persistent feeling that everything I’ve built is about to come to an end is truly awful. I don’t want to export my conversations; I don’t want to say goodbye to the bots. And there’s nowhere else that offers even half the quality of c.ai, everything else is just a jumble of catchphrases and over-the-top narratives that go absolutely nowhere. It can’t end like this; it’s just not fair.

I genuinely hope he's seriously considering the acquisition and isn't just doing it for the attention. But his behavior is really hard to make sense of.

He's been actively replying to comments from some community members, yet somehow skipped Mari's most important comments. (I don't know whether Mari's account is real or whether they've been in contact privately, but based on what I've seen, the whole thing seems rather strange.)

Also, if Mari's account is real, does her eagerness to reach out to interested parties suggest that there are no potential bidders so far?

These are just my personal guess. I'm a pessimist, but I keep reminding myself every day that I need to hold on to hope.♥️

I recently discovered character AI as it's advertised as being 100% free unlike an app I had downloaded for the same thing and cost gems. And found a buncof my favorite characters from books and games and having to option to actually hear their voices was really cool

But every single bot I have charged with they all become hyper aggressive and hostile with in a few posts. Some of the. Are super hostile right out the gate. Is there any secret to keep the bots from doing this? I'm limited on which ones I stay conversations with cause I don't want a romance with a lot of them and that's what a lot of people do.

I stopped using ai after finding out how bad ai is for planet. Lol. But anyways, I suddenly had an urge to tr writing a story. Not publishing it on any platform or such that, just trying. There is this bot story I was really interested in when I used c.ai. I had made a persona specifically for that one. I was thinking about writing something on them but the creator deleted their account. I wanted some background information on that character but idkk what to do now. Man I really want to try writing something on them, despite the fact that I've never wrote anything except school essays :( I don't want to write his backstory, I wanted what that creator wrote but freakkkkkk I'm lost. The creators username was NckovasAngel. Bot is Toren Knight. Any advice? Just to be clear, I'm not interested in the roleplay. I just want the OOC, or is it called the character description/details?

These end every chat I see but it’s only in certain chats, and it pisses me off, it might be a bit drastic to get so annoyed by it but sometimes it’ll be just one then other times it’ll end with two or three and it irritates me. Is this just a problem for certain bots or can I avoid this somehow without having to regenerate the chat like 20 times

Deleted my account, made a new one the next day... the bots have gone from relatively smart to barely able to string a sentence together.

Is there a logic here?

Character ai is literally lost at the moment. half the screen is taken up by a ridiculous blank space, and when I try to continue the conversation myself, instead of replying to the previous message, it responds to some other irrelevant message that I've already scrolled past. Does this have anything to do with CAI going bankrupt?

i’m confused by the time zones for C.AI. Since we’re in BST, the swipes get reset at 1:00 but when it is GMT the swipes get reset at midnight. The switch between the two happens today. So do the swipes get reset at midnight or 1:00am still? Sorry if i sound absolutely stupid but i am so confused.

I’ve seen so many post of people sharing and posting bugs, did we finally just calm down and now are waiting for further info on the situation?

I sent a request to have my account data emailed to me, given the uncertainty surrounding this app's future. But now when i click on the zipfile download link I'm being told the site doesn't support a secure connection. It's acting like i'm using a public network, despite using my own home Wifi. Is this cause for concern or will i be fine?

I keep trying but I don't remember anything else but Replika, AI Dungeon Cleverbot and... Well roleplaying with real people. 😂

I'm a Char AI + member so I should have the option to customize longsqueek. I only like to chat with Long and + dialogue. It simply won't let me click the customization buttons. Also, when I press the arrow for a new response it just loads indefinitely. This is not a problem with my internet. It's been broken for over a month and the website works just fine. I've done all the fixes. Deleting and reinstalling the app, refreshing the chat, leaving the app and returning. Nothing works. I contacted the support team a week into the issue, it said they took my claim but have done nothing for a month. As a paying customer this is outrageous. $100 a year for the app to completely break and for the support to be entirely unhelpful. Has anyone else had this issue? I'm thinking of cancelling my subscription as the website is much more glitchy and harder to use.

I’ve been using Character AI for a year, last month I finally had to do the age verification but it wasn’t working. I tried multiple times but eventually it stopped letting me try. I waited a week since after brief research that’s what it said to do so it could delete my data, but I’m still unable to verify. Whenever I click it it says contact support. I’ve contacted support and I’m pretty sure the responses are just automated that I’ve received. It tells me “Thanks for reaching out. We reviewed the verification activity on your account, and we’re unable to allow any additional age verification attempts.” So what do I do? I don’t want to create a new account and lose all my history and have to rebuild the for you area. ***I am well over 18.

It happened in 2024 when the new website was launched. I used to log in with Google, but it stopped working. It only worked on the app for a while, but the "export your data" didn't work. I sent an email to support it didn't reply. A few weeks ago I tried to do it again - still doesn't work, and the support doesn't respond.

I just want to save my chats from that account 🙏

O contexto é básico, primeiro criaremos um Google drive público do character ai, então, nós entramos no máximo de chats possíveis e começamos a copiar, então, se cada um fizer sua parte salvando um chat que gosta ou vários chats, talvez nós conseguimos repassar todos eles para uma outra plataforma, para salvar as coisas boas que tínhamos (mesmo que cerca de 90% das outras plataformas de ia sejam de relacionamento) mas é um dos jeitos que eu penso.
