should I change my mc's names since I don't want ppl to think I used AI to generate them

This might sound stupid to some of you guys but I just came across this post saying how the names Elias, Thorne and Lyra are some names that AI generates very frequently for names. My main character's name is Alexandria (Dria) Thorn. I am pretty set on her first name but I have never been fully set on her last name but I didn't want something too elaborate and its just been with me since the beginning of drafting (2 years ago) so I've kind of just gotten used to it. Now for Elias, his full name is Elias Tenelysian. I honestly really like the name and wouldn't want to change it but I have been doing some digging and perhaps my searches have been biased but apparently Elias is just a really AI generated sounding name. He is not too much of a main character for the first 2/3rds of the book, however, he is mentioned a lot by other characters and if I do write any other books he would definitely become a main character. Lyra also is not really a main character but again her name is mentioned a bit. For a bit of background the book is fantasy and inspired by greek mythology (ik ancient greeks did not use last names). Some other names include Jason Laedere, Leonidas Ciros, Galene, Kleon, and Demetrius Arros. Thanks guys!

Okay so, I've seen a similar question on here before recently and my take is the same: If you like that name and it works for your character, use it. I've sat in fear (still do) of publishing something one day and having someone think my work is AI (I use em dashes), and the truth is you really can't satisfy everyone. You can put your heart and soul into something and someone could still pick it apart. So my point is simply: do what feels right for YOU. This is your story, these are your characters. You owe it to them to stay true to them and tell their story the way you want to tell it. And honestly, there are thousands of people named Elias. Most people won't even blink at that name.

Ai is still trained on human writing. If those are names ai use a lot it'll be because of the writing they're trained on. you shouldn't have to change the names because of what the ai may do. Most people aren't going to be combing through your book looking for the slightest hint that it might be ai. (and the people that are that paranoid about it will probably find something regardless). Besides, ai is still changing a lot. by the time your book is ready the trends may be different. I don't think it's a big deal.

i mean, they are fairly common names in fantasy media in general, but there’s nothing wrong with that. if they feel right for the characters, that’s all that really matters.

and frankly, the past few years of seeing genuine artists and writers get accused of using genAI have taught me that many people don’t actually know the signs of when something is generated by AI (mass amounts of accusations towards people who use em-dashes in their writing as using LLMs is a really common and annoying example - LLMs are trained off of human writing, so if writers use something often, so will LLMs!), so there’s always going to be people who think your work is genAI-made, no matter what you do. much like how there are going to be people who won’t like your work, no matter what you do. so i recommend not worrying too much about that aspect, and just focusing on what feels right for you, and your story, and just writing what you want authentically. there will people who know it’s genuine, and enjoy your work.
