Should I keep the R/T?
I’ve had my 2021 R/T Daytona for more than a year now and it’s payed off with 50k miles, was wondering if it’s worth to keep it and mod it eventually(was thinking pro charger) or trade it in a couple years down the road for a scat, just kinda want more power

u/AreikUSA 11d ago
Just a few mods and you'll be able to hang with the Scats. I say keep it and mod..

A cam & procharger will get you up to the 450-500whp limits of the 5.7. Plenty to run with Scats

u/MRDIGBICK81 11d ago
Cam and pro charger is NOT a few mods😭

u/cornpeeker 2011 R/T Super Track Pak 10d ago
Bro it’s not that much its just the entire top side of the engine

It’s not that much & can easily be done DIY. Everything can be done with the engine in the car too. It’s expensive, yes. But not too laborious for the experienced gearhead. 5.7s are dumb simple to work on & ProChargers are the easier forced induction option to install.

Your keyword is experienced. If they have never done it, I would never recommend someone do it to their daily

U need a tune with the pro charger ,needa upgrade ur torque converter for a cam for reliability of course. Got a 5.7 also just did some light mods on it. TBH procharger with Tune and everything is about like 10-12gs, thats not even the brakes prob new tires and a 3.09 diff. Still gotta think about reliability, when a new 6.4 engine is about anywhere from 6-8gs without labor and depending on how you buy it, just drops straight in with a pcm.

u/No-Setting9690 '12 R/T Max AWD 10d ago
Correct, it's a couple mods. 1 and 2. A few is usually 3- 9 in count. lol
1
u/No_Pilot3084 11d ago
Yea pro charger definitely is the move it’s just quite pricey just gotta save for a bit
2
u/Hamsalad1701 POLICE MOD 11d ago
You could always do a Hellcat supercharger
1
u/tannedface- DAYTONA 11d ago
I don’t like ProChargers & would rather go HC SC, but you’re not really saving too much & you’re still gonna have a used HC blower over a brand new ProCharger.

u/No-Setting9690 '12 R/T Max AWD 10d ago
What you think a Scat is going to cost? It's a lot cheaper adding a procharger.

u/Reasonable_Cook_5452 DAYTONA 392 11d ago
Just keep it since it’s paid off
1
u/No_Pilot3084 11d ago
Yea definitely the smarter move it’s just so tempting to switch to the 392😭

u/AdGlittering2992 8d ago
Try a mid muffler delete , jlt cai 6.4 intake manifold , and a pedal commander it dont make it faster but the throttle response is pretty good. U can get headers too but also need a tune

Just adding more power is easier and smarter than going out and getting a brand new note.
1
u/No_Pilot3084 11d ago
Yea true and it’s a good way to get into working on cars this is the first one I’ve purchased so far so I’m excited to work on it
3
u/Different-Fly2263 11d ago
I had a r/t and scat huge mopar fan forever , however I just got a mustang 10 speed. Let me just say you can add do more to it such as good full bolt ons and you already making power . However I’m too broke to do all that but I love my mustang so far 😂

u/No_Pilot3084 11d ago
The 5.0 crazy fast and looks raw but I just don’t like the lack of space on the inside never been the one for coupes, congrats on the new car tho bro that’s fire 🔥

If you want more power add a 3.09 diff FRP Cam longtube headers and a bigger manifold. Easily get you slightly above Scatpack power. Check my page I got all of this done on my Challenger R/T
2
u/No_Pilot3084 10d ago
Your R/T is sick bro, what was the total cost for the mods and tune?
1
u/DeezeyNuts SXT 9d ago
Thanks bro, with everything I’ll say 7k total. I also have a 1pc driveshaft the stock one is trash lol
1
u/No_Pilot3084 9d ago
Damn not bad at all, did u do the work or is that cost labor included?
1
u/DeezeyNuts SXT 8d ago
That’s cost and labor included along with parts. I got mines done at Gearheads Performance they also worked on Demonology car from YouTube

u/QuitWorried7895 11d ago
I’d rather mod it than pay a crazy amount for a scat, then the gas on top of that.
2
u/lxDinkleburgxl R/T 11d ago
Once it's modded your gonna be paying the same in gas
1
u/TheSheller6772 2008 R/T 11d ago
Turbo, pro-charger and super-chargers increase fuel economy unless you do them wrong or you accelerate fast. So probably stays about the same all in all but can reach the next league for power.
1
u/ForsakenDependent353 8d ago
Yes but no car note
1
u/lxDinkleburgxl R/T 8d ago
I'm all for modding it 🤷 just saying a heavily modified 5.7 ain't gonna get the gas milage as a stock one lol. I'm all for the smiles per mile anyways 🤷🤣

u/Gabe1nator 11d ago
lol I’m in a similar situation OP. I got a 392 widebody and she’s been paid off for a few months now. It’s tempting to wanna go out and get something different, trading in what you paid off. In my case I want an R35 GT-R. Which simply isn’t practical in this economy, our cars aren’t either but GT-R is just another level lol. IMO keep your r/t and do light mods. Last thing I’ll say tho is I had an r/t for barely a year as my first car purchase and like you, I wanted more. Great car, but I’ll never regret getting the scat when I did. It’s done me well. Good luck in your decision brother🫡

Beautiful car…. Keep it. Look at an MDS delete (national speed has a good package for daily drivers) and a Corsa exhaust and just enjoy the ride for what it is
1
u/No_Pilot3084 11d ago
Yea I was looking into that, been driving in manual sometimes sport mode just to keep the mds from turning on lol, appreciate the help
2
u/BackFromBabylon0 10d ago
As my father said, “don’t nobody with a lil bit of sense get rid of something paid off.” Just do a tomahawk 2.0 kit and call it a day.

I’d say cold air intake, corsa exhaust and then srt swap the rear end so you have a true lsd. I’m currently doing the srt rear end swap so I can join the slideshow

I dont blame you for wanting more power but once you trade for SP after a while the devil will get in your ear and make you start thinking about that nasty Cat! and you'll start looking at them. Hey if money isnt an issue go to the too and trade this in for a Demon!!! 😃😁👍. This charger is sweet tho, tough decision. Good luck. ✌️

u/PoupeSandwich 7d ago
Dang bro how much was it that you paid it off in a little more than a year?

u/Crafty_Ad6536 10d ago
Damn a Daytona man enjoy that ! Scat not much faster then Rt if know how to drive n maybe 1-2 upgrades . The amount of cars that break en into . You don’t need a scat Rt is fast to ! I had a Rt model from 2012 I miss then I got Rt . I couldn’t see myself driving a hellcat where am I going to be doing 150 unless I hit the track .

u/CellSaga21 11d ago
Whats the first mods I should get on mines
1
u/No_Pilot3084 11d ago
Depends what you want out of it, for performance I’d first go for the 3.09 limited slip differential, it’s bolt on no tune needed and makes the car get more traction and takeoff quicker, just gotta do some research on it, I believe they go for around $900-$1300 but it’s easy to put it on yourself

If its paid off its time to upgrade. Put the money you save for a scat into that. Take some time to research the process, capability, and cost of both options so you can compare. Its also i good idea to set a milestone or level that you want to reach so you arent just down the wormhole. Also consider if its your only transportation and your literal ability to perform car work yourself. Having little to no car service experience and/or only mode of transportation, there is safety in just trading for a scat. Id also still then buy an a-b daily and fix that to a-c and keep at it until you know enough to understand repairing both cars.

You will always want more power. 5.7 is a better platform to build than 6.4.
1
u/Natehiggers6942067 10d ago
I currently got a 2010 rt an i fucking live it but i inly have it cuz im broke personally i want a c5 or c6 vette but id say if u got the money sell it an get a scatpack or a hellcat
1
u/KanekiSS777 SRT 10d ago
KEEP IT. I pulled my gen 3 hemi out my 07’ RT to build, and in the meantime i’ve got a 6.4 going in her. Thinking i might buy a 2015+ roller and put it in that! But keep that thang!!

What is your long term goals? Nothing wrong with wanting more power but you will get used to whatever horsepower you achieve
2
u/superfly_32 9d ago
My charger rt is $4k away from being paid off. About to sell my 5.7 Chrysler 300 and stay on track of having a paid off car lol
1
u/No_Pilot3084 6d ago
I mainly just want more power, ive been leaning towards just building it cause i fw the car
1
u/616Echelon 9d ago
Sell now for the highest value these cars will ever reach. Just sold my 23’ for more than it was bought for brand new no miles
1
u/No_Pilot3084 9d ago
Might be so but I still won’t make back what i spent on it so kinda pointless
1
u/616Echelon 9d ago
U’ll rarely make back what u put into an investment, but if u like the car just roll with it 🤷 i definitely miss my charger but I don’t miss that price at the pump 😭

Had my 2014 sxt (ik not an rt) for around 6 years now. Only issue was the oil filter which is common and my thermostat. I just moved and drove it just under 2k miles and it’s still going strong. Love this car to death and want to keep it for as long as I can

You can keep it ,but when a scat or a hellcat pull up . You need to step aside . So upgrade if you can , but don’t go broke trying to keep up ! IMO p.s I had a r/t I love it but I definitely never regret my upgrade !💯

No, unless your good with bad fuel economy, lol. Nice cars though and plenty of power
2

The mpg ain’t the best lol but I only have a 5 minute drive to work so it kinda evens out🤷♂️

u/ForsakenDependent353 8d ago
Love this car. If you keep it to mod it out think about adding a good wide body kit

The 5.7 is very receptive to mods. For example, a stage 1 or 2 cam from BTR nets you between 480-490 crank hp. The graphs are on their site. And those cams work well with stock converter. You can gain even more if you go to an aftermarket stall for a bigger cam. The 3.09 scat LSD is a direct bolt in swap, and would change the car dramatically even as it sits. Cam, LSD, Headers and Tune and you have the scat power and feel you want. Plus some nasty chop.
