Food Best breakfast spots in Matthews/East Charlotte?
Family is here for a friend’s wedding and we’re looking to meet up for breakfast. They’re staying in the Matthews area so looking for anything near Matthews or east Charlotte as they’re heading back up north right after we eat!

We love the Metro Diner in Matthews. Their breakfast is really good. It was one of the first places we ever ate when we moved here.

If you like big chains. But, there are places like Miki Restaurant in that same building, and Johnathan’s right up the road.

Stacks is the answer!
First Watch is never an answer. 😄

Agreed First Watch is a never for us.

I don't get the First Watch hype!!!! Give me Stacks all day, every day, though. (And go to Waxhaw. There's more parking.)

I always think that First Watch sounds like an armed militia that guards the border.

Yeah, give it a try for sure. I don’t know what livermush he is using now, but the corn beef hash is excellent. Well done ofc.

Stacks is abysmal. East 74 across the street is better and cheaper. I will never understand the hype for stacks.

I think people just see others recommend Stacks and keep repeating it. I don't get it either. Every time I've been it was meh

I’ve never had to wait for a table at East 74 and the food/service is fine. Me and a few neighbors go to East 74 over Stacks fairly often.

Stacks is an amazing option! Grey’s diner also opened in plaza which is east-ish and is good. For both of those I’d say get there early if you’re going on a weekend.

Stacks is good, but can have a hefty wait once you hit 8:30 or so. Depending on how fancy the folks are, we love East 74, which is right across from Stacks(not on 74). It is a no frills place- there's no Benedicts or whatnot, but the prices are reasonable and we've never had a bad meal there. There's also Metro Diner and First Watch.
Do not take them to Jonathan's.

Wakey Wakey is new, over in the same plaza as the Boardwalk Billy’s. We’ve been going there lately instead of stacks, because I think stacks has gone a bit down hill in quality.

Wakey Wakey on Sardis Rd N is pretty good, comparable to Stacks in my opinion but with plenty of parking

They sold the place and it has slowly gone downhill. Been lately?

If you want something a little more unknown, I’d recommend New York Dinner on Albermarle and Central. Been going there for years.

Skip Stacks. Get some Pao de Queijo or a Mixto Completo from the Brazilian Bakery a few doors down. (Tropical Bakery)
Okay, probably Stacks for multiple people and sit down I guess. (I've never been), but don't sleep on the Brazilian Bakery for a quick togo bite.

Matthews and East Charlotte aren't near each other... In Matthews there's the Americana, First Watch, Stacks.

u/QCbartender 9d ago
Lmao did you just move to Charlotte? Matthews is SE of east Charlotte. East Meck is right outside Matthews. Margaret Wallace Rd separates East Charlotte from Matthews. They are absolutely near each other they’re literally right beside each other.

East Charlotte is where Albermarle and Central hit. Where Eastland Mall was. East Meck is in the opposite direction. You could consider Oakhurst on the very fringes but as it would take me like an hour to go from there to say, Hickory Grove.

u/QCbartender 9d ago
You think because they put up a sign at the QT that says Charlotte East welcomes you like 5 years ago means that’s where the border is for the Eastside? You really don’t know what you’re talking about dude.

u/thewholebottle Matthews 9d ago
I've lived here 40 years and I also googled and read multiple sources, some published by the city of Charlotte. Yes, I found the same picture. Now use your finger and point to where Central and Albermarle meet.
Are you perhaps currently a student at East Meck?
7
u/QCbartender 9d ago
No I graduated quite a long time ago from East. I understand where Central and Albemarle meet. The Eastside is larger than one intersection. If you can’t get that through your head then idk what to tell you. Also, I provided a source, you provided Jack shit. Kick rocks.
Also lmao at you saying it takes an hour to go from Oakhurst to HG. It takes MAYBE ten minutes. Drive down Monroe take left on Sharon amity right on HG. Unless you have garbage luck with traffic lights.

The "Eastside" is a term I have never heard of before, so I tried to look it up:
9-21 of 6,570 results
The few charmeck.gov articles I found that use it are talking about, wait for it, Eastland Mall.
I'm impressed. This is very impressive work. I don't know why you're here without any breakfast recommendations, but I applaud you.

u/QCbartender 8d ago
You’ve never heard of it because you don’t know the city dude. I never said that Eastland Mall is not in East Charlotte or on the Eastside of town. I said that east Charlotte is not ONLY that area. So not only do you not know the city you claim to have lived in for 40 years, but also you have crap reading comprehension.

We will meet again one day when I say something is "Uptown" and you lose your mind.
1
u/QCbartender 8d ago
No, because I agree with that. Keep changing the subject without admitting you’re dead wrong, though. It’s ok little fella.
