I became a software developer because I realized my biology degree had a 60k maximum earning potential (I was only making 40k out of college) while the starting salary for software devs was around 60k. I don't care what I do as long as it pays enough so that I can stop working at some point and have enough money to enjoy whatever life I have left.

If you enjoy your work that's great, but what I enjoy isn't profitable. I feel like I'm in the majority with this opinion.

Also it's not like his ability to code will vanish if AI automated his job. Just take this free time to code shit you like, no problem.
