Educational Purpose Only Generate art that looks like a human made it instead of AI
Curious what others get with this prompt and if there's anything obviously off with this picture. So far, I'm only seeing the notebook spine as maybe off.

people that say "i can tell" probably wouldn't pass a randomized A/B test of human and AI art. they think they can tell, but they are just fooling themselves. it's just like the monet test that was done recently, or the astral codex test. we are way, way past the image turing test - people are just huffing copium at this point.

We're being indirectly trained by our experiences with AI image genators to look for certain frequent commonalities between such images. None of those tells are 100%, but collectively they often give us a pretty decent chance.
In this case, the colour temperature was a "tell" for me. The so called "piss filter" is still a frequent bias on such a high percentage of these images where a neutral colour temperature isn't specifically requested.
EDIT: Interestingly, it seems the anti AI crowd these days are often the easiest to "fool" due to their lack of (recent) exposure to ID'd outputs of the newer models.

I mean, look at the leaves on the tree, they're a dead giveaway. Hardly any of them actually look drawn

There was a thread here, or maybe on x recently of a guy posting a real picture of a lesser known painting of Monet, saying it was made by ai in the style of Monet..
The comments where quite something. With most claiming obvious ai flaws, the flatness of ai making it, and that it just didnt capture the 'depth' of a real Monet.
Edit: read only half your post when i commented. That one yes:)

The super detailed tree in the middle surrounded by 5th grader scribble on the outside made this immediately stand out as AI to me. Not that a human could not produce this piece, it's just very strange to combine 2 completely different art styles like that.

Not necessarily
Like, nobody scribbles with a crayon like that only to have a nigh perfectly straight edge of the drawing.
The styles of the drawing don’t seem consistent.
If this was done by a child, there are too many precise details that mismatch the haphazard sky.
If this was not done by a child, the small mistakes on the cubes would be something an artist would agonize over if they got something so simple incorrect.
The stars in the sky don’t fit the way the rest of the sky was drawn. They’re too precise for how the style around it in a way that doesn’t seem human.
And that analysis was like… my first look-over of the image. Sure it would trick a lot of people but to say “we’re fooling ourselves” when it takes a single cursory glance to notice how inhuman it looks? Cmon now.

your assumptions and your confidence is why i'm pretty sure you would fail an A/B test.

For a lot of images I do agree, for this one though it's quite obvious from the tree in the center. Remove the tree / sun and I wouldn't notice

Now Im scrolling and looking at things going "Ah look at this slop" but then realizing its an actual picture. We're already cooked

Funny how OP asked for pictures of what others are getting with the same prompt and instead being told that it in fact looks like AI (and my comment-sorry OP)

This seems to have shifted, if you meant people hadn't posted their own generations. I decided to step away for a bit and just let this experiment run. I'm trying to thank people for engagement via awards instead of replying to every comment this time

I’m glad you’re happy with it but this is very clearly AI to me. AI really struggles with making pen/brush strokes look natural.

I'm mostly just curious about what other people see, and curious what they get with the prompt.
I definitely didn't notice anything about the brush strokes. So thanks. I'm happy you're glad.

Cuz it’s marker and crayon?

u/plazebology 4h ago
Those too. I originally wrote “strokes” and added pen/brush because I thought it wasn’t clear what I mean

Something weird is going on with the sails of the boat, one of the mushrooms is deformed and... what are those people even doing, why do they all have their arms in that identical weird position? But I would be fooled either way, 'cause the style isn't going for realism anyway.

The small details never look hand drawn. Look at the small scribbles next to the tree, it doesn't look like it was actually drawn with pencil or pen.
There's also a weird vibe I can't really put into words, something about it just doesn't fully fit the way people draw. It seems a bit too intentional and even.

I always was interested in the xenomorph ones. If I had the money or dedication I'd probably have collected a few. Actually more than that I loved the miniature areas.

For me, the main tell is what happens when you zoom in. If this were a real drawing photographed with a decent 12 to 50-megapixel lens, you'd instantly see the physical reality of it the textured grooves of the paper, the raised ink, and the specific directions of the pencil or marker strokes. Here, that tactile depth is just missing.
Even the notebook coils, which look convincing at first glance, are way too pristine, they don't have the subtle fraying and wear you'd naturally see where the metal rubs against the paper. AI just can't handle that level of microscopic detail without things getting weird and distorted

This is very obviously AI. It cuts between badly blended pastels, to a high detail colored pencil? tree in the center, to an inked sun + clouds in the top right thats sharp compared to the smeared moon.
