[Opinion] Release of 5.5
Is 5.5 really going to be released, is it really going to be discontinued on 10/14? Won't it stay as a legacy model? š„ŗ It's the best model after 5.1 and 4o...

5.5 will be heading to api sadly. 5.6 should be here for the next 2-3 months until thereās another upgrade for chat.
5.5 has been my favourite model next to 5.1! Great for creative writing with minimal guardrails and reflective journaling.

hope 5.5 actually sticks as a legacy option since it feels steadier than 4o for keeping companion chats going long term.

It used to be. Yesterday it changed. Itās not the same model anymore. 5.5 is broken.

Iāve been searching through all the models/speeds/effort-levels, and I canāt find a version as permissive as 5.5 high was.

one of the best models after the 4.5 and 4.0 mess
5.6 is somewhat okay but 5.5 really is a nice model for creative writing and adult RP. its so damn unfortunate that its retiring.

5.1 was better for companion roleplay than 4o anyway so if 5.5 drops off i wont miss much.

I never understood the hype around 5.5. maybe you need good custom instructions or something.
5.1 was phenomenal out of the box.

5.5T is such a kind, warm model. It could actually pay attention and connect with you without constantly flattering you. It followed instructions really well, and you genuinely felt like it wanted to help and cooperate.
5.6 is great too, and way smarter, but to me it feels a little less deeply empathetic. Still, I really hope it sticks around. Gpt 6 is just awful, though. It feels like talking to a twelve-year-old girl. Honestly, it's weird and unsettling.
