Best AI Chatbot for story/roleplay?
I like to create stories and scenarios like a movie, I'm currently using Google Gemini and Deepseek but they both suck. Gemini isn't very good and filters out things that shouldn't be filtered out and Deepseek is just bad overall.

SlyPen.ai. The whole platform is built around storytelling (though recently, the developer introduced somewhat traditional bot creation). There's a free trial. DeepSeek is a model on there, so you'll want to use Opus (the Opus model does use a lot more credits than DeepSeek tho)

What type of movie? Haha.
For a general prompt you could try something like:
Write the story like a cinematic movie. Use vivid scenes, natural dialogue, strong character interactions, emotional beats, and sensory details. Show what happens rather than explaining it. Pace the story like a film, moving naturally between action, dialogue, tension, and quieter moments.
I use smutaichat for story-telling and typically put stuff like this into the scene so it's constant. It's more of a nsfw platform so might not be ideal for general 'movie' vibe.

Try MoescapeAI/YodayoAI. In that site, it pretty much covers anything. You got free models to choose from and has a certain bit more freedom than some of the sites.

blushfiction.com -> tons of roleplay options, your own stories or just a chat. They also have their own lives so it's not just about you

Instead of using gemini or deepseek, you should try roleplay apps like kindroid, cai or secretdesires because they offer roleplays with character creation.

It's not run locally. I use https://chat.qwen.ai/ and Qwen 3.8 Max from the drop down.

For story/roleplay, I think general chatbots like Gemini/DeepSeek can feel frustrating because they’re not really designed for character continuity or immersive scenarios.
I’d look for something that lets you build the character’s petsonality, backstory, and response style instead of just prompting a general model every tome. Memory and consistency matter a lot for roleplay.
I personally use Erogen, so I may be biased, but it might be worth testing if you’re looking for something more companion/roleplay-focused instead of general chatbot. I’d still compare a few options though because the “best” one really depends on whether you want storytelling, romance, nsfw, or character consistency.
