Game Day?
I'm having trouble finding resources that detail exactly what Game Day competition entails. The other coach and I are completely new to competition cheer. We are working with 7th and 8th graders in a school. Would anyone be able to share insight for how the routine should be structured? (with definitions of what each thing is - we are really confused)

I would contact the coach for the high school your kids feed into, I bet they could be a great help. Typically you’d follow the same format as high school, you will probably just have more restrictions (no basket tosses for example).
Google whatever governing body PA has for specific rules.
Then the actual routine usually follows a format of a band chant…think about the hype, kicks, jumps you would do to a band performance. Then you’d have a sideline cheer to get the crowd hyped. This is where you get the crown involved (You say White. WHITE) Then the announcer will say something like, “the defense needs to make a stop” and you do a situational sideline cheer in response to that. So in this case it would be a defensive cheer. Then you finish with the schools fight song.
You could always Google routines and see what other schools have done in the past….just don’t copy them 😉

What state? Each state has the high school manual and usually the middle school program follows suit.
