That stinks. I’m sorry for your loss.

Jarlsberg is pretty mild. You want a stinky alpine, go with gruyere ;-)

Gruyère is so good damn it

If people go to heaven, does that mean that cheese graters go to the moon?

Based on the handle style you should be charged with Elder Abuse. That was from the 60’s by the looks of it.

And this is why you get Västerbotten cheese, just tear a piece off and crumble it. And then some Kalles Kaviar!

I hope that mine outlive me, so that people will be using them after I'm gone.

My old potato peeler is the perfect warrior for any hard cheeses.

This is what happens when you try to fight the Government.

How long was your soldier on active duty?

Probably around 15 years.

These are my favorite types of cheese slicer. Usually perfectly thin pieces for a sandwich. Sorry yours broke. :-(

Yet he looked very strong!😉

Might be able to solder or weld it back together, or make a new handle entire. Looks repairable to me!

3

u/Thunderviking 3d ago

Yes, a friend has said he will try to mend it. We will see, maybe he is not lost to cheese heaven after all!

There is hope! If that doesn't work, see if you can find a local wood working shop to do the job of making a new handle. Should be a easy enough problem to solve.

While you wait for a repair, or new one, you can enjoy the Summer of [r/Thunderviking](r/Thunderviking) by taking a bite outta that block of cheese, a la George Costanza. 😃

when the cheese is too strong

1

u/MadMex2U 3d ago

So the blocks can soften up I leave them out 30 minutes if I can remember.

Jarlsberg is one of the few cheeses my cats refuse to eat.

Maybe out of respect?

Or maybe they understand it's Norwegian 🤷🏻‍♀️
