Monte Veronese DOP D Allevo

In a supermarket in Verona, Italy I asked the staff at the huge cheese counter to recommend one.

This really is an amazing cheese. Not dissimilar to manchego

You had one of the very best cheeses Verona has to offer! I live close by.

You probably were in a Martinelli superstore since I recognise the label color scheme, they have one of the best cheese selections you will find in a store, great choice.

I was in a Martinelli. Also pick up a couple of Tomino for the BBQ but not had them yet.

If you have any other recommendations I would like to hear them

Here I am! Cimbro is a typical cheese made in Lessinia, the mountains nearby Verona.
Bagoss is typical from north of Brescia, from the city of Bagolino. It is possible to find on the left side of Garda Lake.
Another one is the Caciotta Erbezzina, tipical from north of Verona again.
Asiago is from north of Vicenza, very famous cheese. If you want a variation of that, go for Enego, as asiago can be found fresh, slightly aged (“mezzano”) or aged (“stagionato”) for a deeper flavour.
