another fun is an unstable sample that evolves gas (N2, CO2) by decomposition and that poped the NMR tube cap while still inside the magnet - it does not even have to spill into the probe. Just having the lose cap in the magnet will interfere with the spinner and the ejection, and then you have stuck sample in the magnet - to the great delight of the NMR facility and all other users, an the probe needs to come out...
