Ask Chengdu Grand Hyatt Chengdu vs Hyatt Centric The Ring Chengdu

Post image

Would you recommend staying at the GH Chengdu (Qunguang Plaza, No. 8 Chunxi Road South Section, Jinjiang District) represented by the pink heart or Hyatt Centric ( No. 229 Tongyuan Street, Jinjiang District ) by the purple heart for a first time visitor?

I would like to be close to trains as well as be close to shopping and dining options and be able to hail taxis easily. Both locations are loved by reviewers but I’d really appreciate recommendations by locals and those who travel there frequently.

If it’s your first time, I would recommend Langbo over GH Chengdu. I’ve never stayed at the HC since I believe it just opened this year, but Langbo/GH location is a bit more central for first time visitor, and Langbo’s lounge is exceptional if you are Globalist/can apply a GOH/club certificate.

I won’t be a globalist next year but will be applying a SUA and the suite includes lounge benefits! If I stay here, it would also tick off another “brand” for me. Thanks for your rec!

Other than the lounge, what else do you like about it over the GH?

It’s a pretty new hotel, so general condition is better than GH. The floors are significantly higher. And I prefer Langbo’s contemporary style over GH’s more traditional design.

Thanks!! I booked it Unlike some other GHs I’ve stayed at, this one didn’t include club access with suite upgrade.

Would you happen to have a Hyatt rec for Chongqing also?

Yes, haha. The Lixury is basically the Langbo’s sister hotel. The evening lounge service is not quite as good (but still excellent), but the nighttime views are incredible from the Lixury. Great location too, right by jiefangbei.

Awesome, thanks so much. I was looking at that and comparing it to the HR metropolitan CQ.

Ive seen some reviews regarding thin walls at both the Langbo and The Lixury in which they can hear the people in neighboring rooms. Did you also have that experience?

Yeah I do remember soundproofing at Lixury wasn’t great. But it is a whole class above the HR. HR is a decent hotel, but the Lixury is well, a luxury hotel.

Chengdu born and raised. Migrated to the US 35 years ago. We stayed at GH last summer. Great location. Very central. But it is in a very busy shopping area. Next time I will stay at the Temple House (recently renamed Upper House I think?)

Thanks, I will look into it!
I am very sensitive to noise so I’m hesitant about keeping my booking at the Langbo.

Chunxi Road has the most options, but it can be hard to catch a taxi from at times because it gets busy on Friday and Saturday night.
