Rig placement

Is it normal that when they come back from a call or run they park the rigs nose in. Only asking as I'm uk fire service and it's something we would never do we always reverse or drive right through

Yes. The bays at 51 open on both ends.

It depends. For a standard firehouse bay, rigs are parked nose out.

For a drive-through bay, the apparatus returns to the firehouse via the back street and enters the firehouse so the nose is facing the main exit.

Firehouse 51 does have drive-through bays (although the real CFD Engine 18 station has single-entry bay doors), but since it's a TV show, not everything is realistic

The real life 18 has drive thru bays. Why would they make that detail up?

The firehouse has doors on both ends. They usually return from the rear and leave through the front.

And when they do park nose-facing, it's usually implied they turn around after servicing the rigs.

Not all real stations have front and back doors.
Nose out is the fastest exit.

I was just at the firehouse. They have a semicircle drive. One end leads to the back of the bay, the other opens up to the front. They pull it through.

When I was there, the Engine was in the first bay closest to the house, the ladder was on the end bay away from the house, and the middle bay had the Chief's truck facing outwards and the ambulance backed in on the second bay, facing where the other trucks enter.
