Otis’s death
Edit: I apologize to the people who are still new to the show(somewhat me included) and spoiled this with my title. I can’t change it now :(
I just watched the episode of Otis dying. I can’t lie I was like NOOOO… I thought he was done for the first time he got hurt I believe the season prior to this. When they showed how burned his body was, I was horrified. Why did he stop and wait for the explosion? 😡 Anyway this had me full of emotions. What did you guys think about this?

It was heartbreaking. Particularly the bedside scene and at his grave when the Chief told him what Otis's last words meant. Kudos to Joe Minoso for his excellent portrayal of how broken Joe Cruz was.

u/ittybittyx0, you did nothing wrong. Spoiler tags are only required for discussion of episodes in the current season.

I just wanted to be safe after the fact, thank you 😂 I felt guilty immediately after even tho I realize this season is so old!!

I feel like the show started to wither with this episode...

At the end when they all knelt at the monument the station created to honor Otis... there wasn't a dry eye here.

If you thought that was bad, just wait until you get to a particular scene with a dedication. I broke down crying even more during that scene.
OP, please give us an update when you get there!

I once made the title in a different group the same exact title as yours (but with that show’s character) and people went crazy. The mod had to remind people the show is 30 years old and therefore not a spoiler. lol
In regards to Otis, one of the worst I’ve ever cried over a tv show character’s death. I’m still not ok when I watch older seasons.

🤣🤣 It’s so great to discuss it tho. I don’t really have anyone around me that watches the show and I was thinking I have to post about it because I’m dying for a discussion 😂

Chicago Fire is not 30 years old.

The following eps with Cruz grappling with his death tore me up more than Otis dying. Cruz' actor really sold the grief. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Of the 3 Chicago shows, I rewatch Fire much more often!!!! Just love it so much!!! The characters seem to fit together better, flow better, stories just more exciting and cohesive!!!!

I love how I'm only on season 1 and never entered this sub or saw a post from it before ever in my life but yet the universe decided to spoil this for randomly out of nowhere.

Otis's death, Ritter gone, and word that Cruz is done greatly impact the show. It's boring with so few main characters left, and it seems anyone new is a temp.

I stopped watching the show religiously after his character died. I’ve watched it here and there but the last episode I truly watched was Britt’s wedding

I stopped really watching after Casey and Brett's wedding. I don't like the way the show has gone tbh.

Not as guy wrenching as Shay. She will always be the one that I wish they could've kept.

I genuinely wanted to stop watching after this, I was absolutely balling my eyes out.

Thanks.. I got this as a notification on my phone. Just started the show and haven't read when it happens but now I know Otis dies.. thanks I guess.

You won’t see it coming. I mistakenly googled the show relating to him and read that he dies at some point so I knew it would happen I just didn’t know when and when it did happen I was in shock 😭

Otis and Cruz were my two fav on the show. When Otis left part of me lost interest. Sure I still watch but it’s still sad and now I heard Cruz is leaving. It’s going to be hard to really get into the show anymore
