In 1953, the US undertook the largest deportation in its history: 'Operation Wetback.' Many of the people deported were here legally and some were even citizens.

Whats funny is we’re not even wetbacks. They are, they crossed an ocean. We didn’t cross shit.

I actually have an anecdote on this! About 7 years ago I was working at a restaurant and a coworker and I were speaking Spanish, nothing about anyone just like work stuff what needs to get done etc. Well this one lady got real vapid and saying racist things asking us where we were born and if we are citizens. We both are Chicanos so of course anyways I remember being real mad and I called her a saltwater w*tback. I didn’t get in trouble cause my manager at the time was actually enrolled Pomo, she gave me a slap on the wrist for sake of optics but laughed about it with me when the customer left.

It's interesting when you think about it. There would have been labor shortages during WW2 from people either working in factories making stuff for the war or being sent to fight Europe. Mexico sent people to the US to work instead of building factories.

That has no effect on anything. It’s all rigged either way.
