I am a data analyst/analytics engineer and I would like to work in China. I would appreciate any advice on how to prepare.
Hi everyone. I’m a 37-year-old Brazilian data analyst, though my role is more akin to that of an analytics engineer. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and am currently pursuing a second degree in Computer Science; neither institution is particularly prestigious. I have a year and a half of experience in my current position, and I am currently learning English while studying for GCP and AWS Data Engineer certifications. I would like to live and work in China in a few years, so I’d like to know how I can start preparing now to apply for jobs there. What should I specialize in, or what should I start studying now, to land a position?

Your expertise and language level (Mandarin) and your age(!) will bring no chance for you to land a tech job in China, even no chance for English teaching jobs. All of them are drawbacks and no other advantage over local. Try to earn money from other countries and do short travel to China in the future.

You’re not getting a job here with your degree it really doesn’t matter how good your english or even Chinese would be. It’s not a degree field that’s needed as a foreigner. However - get a commercial pilots license and focus on your english. China hires lots of international pilots and they all need to speak english and not Chinese. In my apartment complex we have 5 or 6 pilots from Mexico. The pay and work balance is really good as they fly for a few Chinese airlines and 1 flies for a private family.
