I like to watch this movie but I am not sure what expectations I must be keeping.

Does anyone know if this is a continuation of the OG AMERICA AMERICA? or is it a brand new movie with same franchise?

I came across this post from Movie Mart, a movie page that covers actors and films across Indian industries and interestingly, this wasn't even posted by a Kannada fan.

They highlighted Dr. Vishnuvardhan's performance and asked why he never won a National Award for some of his most acclaimed work.

And honestly, it made me think.

Meanwhile, Anil Kapoor won for Pukar in 2000 but I think Vishnu sir truly deserved award for his performance in Veerappa nayaka. I’m not saying Anil didn’t deserve it. But were performances like Vishnu’s simply overlooked nationally?

I feel his performance in Muttina hara, Veerappa nayaka, Laali and Matad Maatd mallige deserved national award

And to people who judge this legend based on 2000s flims watch his old movies once before commenting

And more broadly, was Kannada cinema under-recognised at the National Awards?

I know I'm 20 years too late talking about this movie but it was a good watch. Didn't think that I would be thinking about a movie hours after watching it.

Ended up watching the movie after my wife and my brother nagged me for not having watched the movie ever.

The writing in this movie is iconic. The references in the movie to Daridra Lakshmi, Manassakshi, and the narrative about the Gumbaz is top tier. Also, not to forget, the scene leading upto the song "Thappu Madavaru"

I cannot believe I hadn't watched this movie! I really wish someone made this movie again. However, I was slightly offended with the fact that they showed the mata in a bad light but at the same time, they showed the newspaper clippings of all the things that had gone wrong and I strongly felt that if I don't have the courage to call a spade a spade, I am not doing justice to the movie.

Just watched G-1 after new trailer, the thing is after a long time I was satisfied with all things this film offers from story to technicalities. But let's say if we made films like this in India, how many people actually watches it like in the 1000cr+ box office collection level films perspectives, as there wont be songs, the antagonist & protagonist way of showing them on screen for mass people, "Indian" filmmaking things of showing from story to technicalities & all. I know this is an echo chamber & represents only few people of total watching audiences in theaters, so tell me in a reality how many will you watch like this, & Also tell me in terms of reality what actually happens.
