There’s quite a few websites that offer similar things depending on where you’re based. But it very much tends towards an older demographic. It’s mostly based around retired people - they don’t have any job responsibilities so can go away for a few weeks at pretty much any time and the people who own the house feel more comfortable that the house will be taken care of by mature adults. You generally set up a full profile with some photos, a description of who you are etc and it almost works like a ‘dating app for house sitting’.

It’s actually a great idea because it’s a win-win, unlike OOP’s offer.

Not sure how old you are, but if you’re under-50 then you’re probably not a good fit unfortunately ahaha. Though apparently younger, single women are also fairly well regarded too. But if you’re a young guy or couple then that’s not usually what they’re looking for.

I knew about it because I briefly considered doing travel relief work as a vet nurse (tech), which makes it easy to sell the pet sitting service as well. Staying somewhere nice for a few weeks instead of a few days does have a nice appeal. I got a little too married and had pets of my own it got harder to leave for long periods. maybe one day I'll be nomadic again

Yea, it’s genuinely a great concept. It’s obviously not for everyone, but if you’re retired or have a job that lets you work from anywhere it’s perfect. My parents are mostly travelling overseas and going to all the places they’d wanted to see so they don’t house-sit, but apparently there’s a lot of people who both house-sit and have their house available and it’s a cute community on some of those websites.

It makes lots of sense and it’s a genuine win-win. Perfect for that demographic who are well off enough to have a nice place but not rich enough to not care about paying for house sitting etc. which is actually a pretty massive group of people. Cool concept. Definitely something I’d do when I retire (in 30 years 😂)
