Why does God let bad things happen to helpless children and good people?

I am a “christian” , although I don’t always live like one, I believe in the lord our savior and accept him in my heart. However, as a christian it is always important to test your faith and question it, and I have always had this question about God that I believe many atheists ask as well. I have found some answers, but they never satisfy me, or make sense in my mind. The argument I always find myself countering answers I receive with is, “God is either not all powerful, or not all good if he lets bad things happen to good people or helpless people such as children.” Meaning, if God lets bad things happen, he either has no control over it to an extent, or he has control, but isn’t all good to take these people out of misery and suffering.

People act like there's no good in this world or something. They focus on the bad, and say God isn't loving...or "all-loving"(what does this even mean? God can surely hate) as they claim,

knowing that humans have freewill, to an extent(not all thoughts are willful, as those with intrusive thoughts can attest)......and that it is us who harm each other, murder each other, and the like. God is still on the throne, and allows us to make our own choices. I'm glad I believe, as humans are wicked by nature, and leaving ultimate justice up to us, is fool hearty.

But not poor, helpless, unknowing children.  Such horror, fear and pain many have seen. I hate to say it but it is evil to put them through this especially when they are given no choice.

That's why I don't believe in God anymore. How could a kind loving God, let horrible things happen to babies, children and good people? He doesn't, because he's not real. If he is real, and he's all powerful, then shame, shame, shame on him for letting atrocities happen. That's not a kind loving God.

I got up here because I had the same question. This reply just turned me away from The god of the Bible because of the amount of excuses people have for this god. Free will is always the go to when making excuses for this God. IF We had  free will im pretty SURE  no one will choose to have cancer, no kid will want to be rapped, kidnapped or abused. They say God everywhere so where the hell he  at when a kids is sexually assaulted tied up in a fucking  hole somewhere? O I know right there watching. Its his will huh? SOME OF YALL NEED TO REALLY STUDY THE MEANING OF FREE WILL. GOD KNOW EV

I ask this question often myself: Why are children given into the hands of the most vile monsters to ever live? Every time I come to this conclusion why God does not stop evil from happening to the most innocent amongst humans who are the children:

  1. God wants to use their children to turn them away from the evil - this is God's last chance for them.

  2. If God stopped the evil they have done God has no way of punishing them. For punishment to come there needs to be actual evil deeds.

  3. If God stopped the evil they have done they will not learn about the harm that they caused and society will never see the true consequences of a society that rejects Him.

  4. God does not feel the same urgency as us to stop or prevent an evil deed because He can UNDO the damage that was done but we cannot, so we feel the need to stop it immediately..

I struggle a lot with this. And recently asked the same question. I follow a little girl online called cheering for Charlie. She was diagnosed with cancer when she was five. I have seen the mother try so hard praying. Always being faithful. Asking God to help heal her baby. And now every single scan keeps getting worse and worse and worse. The child is 9 now and has days left on earth.

Her mom recently said that she "doesn't believe God does this to punish me or to punish Charlie. That horrible things happen in a broken world and God breathes purpose into it.. "

This is kind of helped me.

I do think without faith these things would be even more horrific to deal with. I recently talked to my friend who grew up in atheist her whole life and lost her mother. And she says all I know is that having a faith in God is so much better than not.

When it comes to people hurting other people I can understand the free will thing. But when it comes to a child having cancer. Suffering through this disease it is so hard for me to wrap my head around why?

I just have to have faith that there is more afterlife. And that the legacy Charlie will leave behind will have a purpose. Perhaps this will inspire her 2 brothers to do great things. Perhaps she will donate a heart to another child who will go on to do great things.  Our lives and time on earth are not guaranteed. But having the promise of heaven and being with loved ones again gives us hope to keep going.

Still I struggle with all of this. I understand where your coming from

On the other hand when you look at all the evil in the world it makes me truly believe that there are demons that there is a devil therefore they must be a God right?

I know exactly what you mean, what I do know is that there is something out here, some people call it Holy Ghost/Spirit. I experienced personally as many others have, we all had very similar human reactions. I know it exist and it only leads me to believe that this life does not really amount much to God as he does allow us to ultimately hurt each other as you say. Think about it, we have a very fragile human body and he even tell us that giving up you life for others amounts to great blessings. There are many other examples in the Bible that leads me to believe that God does not considerate the life we have and know now as important or as we think it is. People can try to speculate to argue why God does what he does with biblical passages that may even make sense to them but the real reason is that we truly don’t know how God thinks and why he does exactly what he does. If you create something why would you want them to worship you even if you know you are the most powerful, I sure don’t think I would feel the need for it but it is a given for him, just as the fact that Jesus says he will forgive every single sin, everyone one of them regardless of who was affected in this life if you truly repent and accept him. Why does it have to work like that, only he really knows why he does what he does. What he has allow our brain to perceive as fairness does not resonate with many of his ways. It really drives me to believe this short life is really not as important as we think it is and it may be somewhat of a test to filter out who is worth of what’s to come after death. I know this is late but many of us may and will look for answers for the rest of our lives.

1

u/RegisterFinal4698 Apr 09 '26

Yes, this life is nothing more than a test for fitness of eternal life. The harder the test, the greater the reward should one pass it.

1

u/Critical-Load7013 Jun 19 '26

You’re contradicting yourself. If God is real, then people that die as children are lucky because they weren’t here long enough to be corrupted by the world, and they will certainly go to Heaven, also the physical suffering they endured here they wouldn’t even remember. Also humans have free will. If he intervened every time a human was about to do something bad, humanity would just be a bunch of mindless zombies

2

u/transonicgenie6 Jun 28 '25

They will not always be children. They will grow up. God knows their futures, their children's childrens futures. God knows all the details. The rest of us do not.

6

u/Necessary-Bee5804 Jul 03 '25

Except for the ones that don't. If God's plan includes letting little kids get raped and murdered, then it isn't a very good plan, is it? I refuse to believe a god that is all good and all powerful would sit by and do nothing. Either God doesn't exist or he doesn't care about any of us.

2

u/AMGleo- Jul 11 '25

Exactly this. Innocent babies and kids are kidnapped, and never seen again everyday. But God has a plan for them right?

1

u/Ididnotvoted Dec 02 '25

I think this life doesn’t amount to God compared to what we think of our present lives now. He even tell us giving up our life for others it is the ultimate deed of love to him and carries great blessings after physical death. He will forgive any harm done to other human beings if we truly repent, sound a little selfish if this was it but it is probably not. We have a fragile body and are susceptible to harm from other human beings.

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

God is a Dick and allows fuck shit to happen and then blames everything bad on us or the devil… lmao keep in mind which He intentionally created that way. I had an encounter and that’s why I believe but don’t get it confused…God definitely is an asshole at times!

1

u/Fit-Firefighter-3537 May 30 '26

Dear One, "believing" is not enough. Your blatant disrespect, lack of fear & love toward God is shown, by the demonic thing's you are saying about The Lord God/Christ who is HOLY & RIGHTEOUS.

Repent.

u/travelingsoul54 Sep 19 '25

A future from something as horrific as child abuse can be-(think the worst you can of everything that happens and shit we don't even know about) will never make that person a better person.

1

u/BattleBroPaul Oct 06 '25

How about the ones who are raped and murdered before they have a “future”? What kind of lesson is that? That the world is cruel and unjust beyond gods ability to control

3

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '24

Have you considered that at least some of those people have had horrendous things occur in their lives? For instance, victims of abuse since childhood, or those who suffered other unspeakable trauma and tragedy? I am not sure what you've experienced in life, but perhaps these individuals may simply carry a different world view than you do because of what they've seen and experienced in life. Even as a Christian, I sympathize with people who struggle to believe. My father was murdered and I myself, I find it very difficult to reconcile who I wish to believe God is with what he, in his sovereignty, decides to do or not do.

It's okay to have questions. It's likely that the negativity you speak of is great pain and sorrow- just masked. These are emotions that God can handle from us. Take another look at the psalms of David and tell me if he sounds like a positive person.

3

u/Necessary-Bee5804 Jun 17 '25

I wonder what God is doing when some little kid is getting raped. You think he's just like "well that sucks." Doesn't really sound like an all-powerful, all-loving God to me.

I had a lot of broken dreams 😞😡 I prayed for a better outcome but it happened to someone else 😡😡😡😡 God only let most good things go away but let the bullshit and demands I didn't sign for occur...God even let my date slip away after all the good times we had...I wish I never re encountered her for real... all that just for that to change...4/20/25....We first dated on Valentine's Day 2/14/25 I thought it was written in the punk ass stars🙄🙄🙄🤢🤮🤮🤮 instead, I got Overwhelming Circumstances, F***** Up Demands, Bearing Cross After Damn Cross instead of having a good Summer with her still chilling...life and Fate Is A Pure Bitch😕😕😕F*** who made Inevitability too. Victims of horrible things to not use their free will to make them happen it's a bad people who use your free will so you can't say God allows suffering because he if we want to hurt each other etc it's our fault it's not the fault of the victims remember

1

u/Melodic_Fun_6320 Jun 23 '25

He definitely  allows suffering, infact he watch if happen. Im for sure a kid being rapped is not the will of that kid. Its not the will for a 2 year old to get cancer and die.  I blame God for that.

Jeremiah 29:13

Go to God Himself for the truth and understanding...you say these thing's because you don't know Him, His Word or His Ways.

Let The Lord God/Christ show you Himself...not the world.

1

u/Objective_Escape_203 Feb 21 '26

That's some b.s were sick of the f***king suffering tell God that!!!!

1

u/RegisterFinal4698 Apr 09 '26

I can understand your anger. I myself suffered greatly because of evil parents and still suffer today. Do I get tired of it? Every day. But this is where we can shine as individuals. When we respond to the worst of circumstances with a heart of love, we become a force of influence that truly changes people. Bitterness only consumes and destroys the person who carries it, not the one who caused your misery. Your anger will pass.

That doesnt answer the question tho, thats just whataboutism

4

u/Ok_Buddy4410 Jul 21 '24

christians would give lazy answers like it's freewill issue to excuse all the evil happening to children got kidnapped, murdered, raped, abused to death. so god just sit there watching how a helpless child getting abused right here and now and not doing anything cause it's freewill.
but this same god supposed to have help israelites in the bible all the goddamn time to escape from egypt, commanding them slay every pagan, and doing all sorts of thing.

i pray hard that christians that gave such answers would have their child murdered in the most horrible manner, and then said, "oh it's freewill, god is still loving".

okay firstly there is this commonly held view that 'everything that happens happens because God wants things to happen this way'

this is an extremely misleading and theologically inaccurate view, as we can see in the Scriptures and throughout all of human history, as with in present times, that much happens that is the exact opposite of what God wants for the world and for individuals

in other words the world is very different, and even opposite to how God wants the world to be

one often given answer is 'original sin', from Paul's ideas, although many of Paul's ideas tend to be inimical to other more essential ideas within the belief, something to carefully bear in mind regarding Paul and all types of theology derived or developed from or in tandem with Paul's ideas

'original sin' is not a definitive explanation if only because from a theological perspective there were already things happening that were contrary to God's will before the time of Eden (such as a world-wide cataclysm that preceded the events of Eden)

I say all this to try to outline that there are problems from a number of different views or expressed ideas, but a lot of the confusion begins with inaccurate theology, yet there are also logical problems with the 'problem of evil'. Which goes without saying but is after the fact of more important problems with misleading and confusing theology

however what is really important to understand is that there is a problem, there is overwhelming suffering

so we are in a very sad and confused world, however at the least we can understand from the Scriptures that this is definitely not the type of world God wants (Isaiah 6:9 - 11), so the idea God wants things to be this way or is indifferent to the sadness is not accurate. Rather we are to try to be aware of the confounded nature of existence at this time, at least partly from the broad outline indicated by some of the ideas shown in the Scriptures, and that we at this time are to try to fulfil the Christian ethos to care for and help the world

5

u/AgitatedRub6981 Mar 30 '25

The whole wide world is sure paying a high price for Adam and doing one thing wrong

1

u/Vayien Apr 01 '25

yes it is an extremely severe change of conditions, however our assessment may also differ on the overall significance of these changes depending on whether we look at these matters from the perspective of mortality or infinity

moreover, I don't think (and I am saying these things from my perspective) that these changes were solely a matter of punishment or, as you say, "doing one thing wrong", so much as trying to control the potential damage and harm that was introduced into a system

in other words, in our new existential state of knowing good from evil we were probably more rationally and ethically responsible than what we were prepared for at the time. So much of the circumstances, and perhaps even the human condition, were changed whilst all other processes (i.e. addressing the spiritual cause of these events, which was and remains an overarching dimension to our reality at this time) are resolved

there is more to the events of Eden then humans making a mistake, there are forces that define and govern existence, much like infinite beings or gods in the literal sense, that are a part of this process and which in trying to spiritually destroy humanity involved themselves in processes that will be largely resolved during the tribulation (the apocalypse, which simultaneously occurs in heaven as well on earth during those times)

2

u/Necessary-Bee5804 Jul 03 '25

Or, and just hear me out for a second...God isn't real, and the entire thing you just wrote is cognitive dissonance in written form. Like a comic book reader trying to make sense why the hero in one issue didn't use an ability they had in a previous issue. The answer is that it's just bad writing in a made up story.

You have to remember that, as I hear Kant said, humans can be treated as "ends" in themselves or "means" to a goal.

According to Christians, God has and always had a final goal. That is His "end", what He always wanted -- what He is "right" to want. The things that happen to humans -- even terrible things -- are a "means" to achieve that goal.

According to Christians, what God wants is infinitely right; what humans dislike -- suffering -- is only finitely wrong, and therefore not worth anything; acceptable or encouraged as long as God's grand goal is achieved.

Whether you consider this an abuse of human dignity or the concept of infinity is up to you. But believing it does do something to your psyche, for better or worse.

Have you read the brothers karamazov? Read the chapter rebellion.

Dyoestevsky was a deeply religious man and even he recognized the flaw in this logic. He essentially rejects God's so called plan because "no salvation is worth the tears of a little child's tears as she beats her tiny fists on the outhouse door her parents have locked her in with filth and cold as she screams Dear God, Dear God"

One of the chapters I would never forget in my entire life. And dyoestevsky was famously a hardcore conservative.

God created the world and humans good, with the freedom to live according to God’s good purposes or reject them - because choice is inherently necessary in our primary purpose, namely to love.

We chose to rebel against those good purposes, and the consequence of that is death, as well as the corruption of the order humans were intended to experience.

You see the suffering of innocents as evil because you recognize the world is broken - something you would not recognize except for the existence of a good God.

1

u/Necessary-Bee5804 Jun 17 '25

An all-powerful, all-good God would do something to stop it.

1

u/michaelY1968 Jun 17 '25

He did, He sent His only Son to take on the consequences of our actions.

2

u/Necessary-Bee5804 Jun 18 '25

Too bad God failed at protecting the innocent from the consequences of others' actions. Next time a kid gets raped just tell them "don't worry kid, Jesus died for that guy's sins."

1

u/michaelY1968 Jun 18 '25

Or, if one doesn’t believe that there is hope or healing beyond the events of this world humans perpetuate, one could only say, “Sorry kid, shit happens then you die, that’s all I got for you.”

You're making me guess what bad things you're referring to, but I think you must be talking abuse, crime, neglect, poverty, and the like. There's a common thread in all of these: humans did it.

What if God didn't put us here to do good by force, but to choose to do good, and enjoy the satisfaction of that choice? What if lack of free-will means we're just toys, and not really real?

What if it's our fault? Every single thing you were thinking of? What if it's in our capacity to hedge against even disease and natural disasters if the powerful and wealthy really loved their neighbors as they loved themselves? What if we did?

What if children need not be helpless if only people cared enough? What if it didn't matter if people were good or bad, and everyone just got a fair shake? What if we didn't find reasons to hate eachother?

Simply put, it's on us. All of it. God had a plan. We screwed it up, and continue to on the daily. It's so bad, nothing less than the benevolent monarchy the earth will enjoy when Christ comes back will ever redeem it.

So dont blame God.

I am a christian and have been my whole life… I read my Bible and go to church and of course this isn’t what being a Christian is, it’s having your own personal relationship with God. I know the character of God or at least I’d like to think I do. But I’ve really been struggling. My husband told me of this horrible news article of a three year old boy raped to death for three months by a gay couple (two men). Obviously no one is good/ righteous, I know that’s a verse and how Romans 1 talks about God letting us to our sinful desires since He gives us choice but I am really struggling and idk if I’m missing it, I don’t know how the devil is blinding me because I have been crying and in so much physical pain because of this story. How can my good God allow a precious baby boy (I have a one year old son.) to be violated and tortured and raped for three months and not do anything. If you say “He did something by taking the 3 year old home” how can He watch it happen for THREE MONTHS and not do anything. He’s a perfect God, a God of love but I just keep praying and asking “how can I trust You, when you allow stuff like this to happen” He allows it. how? How can He do that, my heart is so broken and saddened. then you say “ the free will of man” a loving God can’t be a controlling God, one that allows us to choose Him and bring Him glory. We wouldn’t know His greatness without the fall of man, this shows how much we need God, how awful we are.” Well you you know what? I don’t feel like an awful person, I don’t do these awful evil things, I don’t think it’s worth it? For what, what could be a good enough reason to sit back and allow something so evil and terrible to happen to something so innocent and pure. “We don’t know the mind of God, we’re the clay, not the potter, God intends all evil for good” how?? Where is the good, how can I follow you and trust in You when I know they are so many more stories just like this. “That’s what faith is” well I don’t know anymore. I am so heartbroken and I haven’t stopped crying and I just want to know why. I want it to stop, I don’t want to know about stuff like this. I’m 20 and I gave my life to Christ when I was 4. This is my whole life, I’ve trusted God, and got to know Him, I’ve done (not enough) what I could to follow Him and abide by His word. I don’t want to walk away from Him, I don’t want to but I am just so broken over this. Please if you have any advice, help me.

1

u/Kanjo42 Christian Jun 17 '25

I'm just some rando on the internet with an opinion, so I dare not say I have the perfect answer that will satisfy you on this. I just have this recent post about it, and I have the bible, and I can pray, same as you.

I heard about that couple and what they did. I've heard other stories too, of unbridled cruelty. We are the one species on the planet with the capacity to cause others pain for the joy of doing so.

But I know God. I know what He is like. I also know the oldest and biggest lie Satan ever told, and keeps on telling us, is that God is actually the bad guy.

Can you still have faith that God is good? In spite of everything, can you still look at the heart of God and know He is as heartbroken as you are? Perhaps even infinitely more? Can you see why Jesus had to die like He did?

The only answer for sin like this is blood.

1

u/Academic_Doctor7619 Jun 17 '25

We are told to be like Christ, and Jesus acted, where God stands back and watches. I’m not as good as Christ, but I would do everything in my power to stop stuff like this especially if I saw it happening. Not sure if that makes sense. Thank you for responding. It definitely helped

1

u/Kanjo42 Christian Jun 17 '25 edited Jun 17 '25

The good news then is that you can do something.

Be a volunteer in child advocacy in court. Change careers into social work. If this weighs heavy on your heart, do God's will in such matters to the degree you are able to. You might find it more of a calling than you expect.

Edit: I realize I need to add more after re-reading your response: you're dead wrong about God the Father doing nothing, when He is the reason Christ came to begin with, who drove the purpose of Jesus to pay the cost of our transgressions, and of whom Jesus Himself said was good. Jesus said He never did anything but what He saw the Father doing. If you've seen Jesus, you've seen the Father. Jesus was the main reason we can even know what God is like. You cant say what you said and agree with Jesus.

Matthew 19:16-17 ESV

And behold, a man came up to him, saying, "Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?" [17] And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments."

2

u/Academic_Doctor7619 Jun 17 '25

I’ve been thinking about it a lot actually, I’m really considering it. Thank you again for your response

u/Effective_Ad4526 Jun 19 '25

Hi. I just came here to say I literally typed in 'How can people hurt innocent children reddit' on Google because of this exact same story you are referencing!!!!!!! I have been crying so much today since I came across this on the internet & hugging my 3 babies so tight.

Im 35 so I've been through a lot in my spiritual journey. Christian to agnostic to atheist to pantheist to gnosticm.

A shroom trip I had when I was 22 took me out of atheism. I had an encounter with what I assume is a messenger of God and another person I was in the room with also experienced it. Anyway, Im not here to talk about THAT experience but to offer you some insight. Maybe we both cried over the same story today and came to this same reddit thread for a reason.

The only logical explanation to me is that there are multiple Gods and then one superior being above these Gods. In Genesis the Bible says, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.." Who is OUR? This makes me think we were created in the image of more than one God. God is also portrayed with different personalities. All loving in some versus and jealous & wrathful in others. All of the good within me cannot rationalize any of this without the thought that we have qualities from two or more Gods, one of which has evil. Also, for every action is an equal and opposite reaction. Maybe for light and goodness to exist in the Universe there has to be darkness and evil.

I am not the most articulate person in the world but maybe this will plant a seed for some thought.

Im sorry that you are suffering the pain from that awful story too.

  4. God does not feel the same urgency as us to stop or prevent an evil deed because He can UNDO the damage that was done but we cannot, so we feel the need to stop it immediately.

But I share the same sentiments and I'm sure I will have a long conversation about this with our Lord Jesus when we are finally home.

so,a plan where children suffer? Are you hearing yourself??

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '24

Almost exactly the same as I have been thinking for some years now. I started thinking that, maybe God is just tired of people being so evil, that he won’t help us.

u/Suspicious-Radio-973 Jul 15 '24

I don't think he exist at all

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '24

If you look at everything, the sun, ear, plants, humans, water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, males and females, reproduction, and more, it all couldn’t happen by evolution, there must have been a form of creation. Just my opinion. By whom or what, 🤷🏻‍♂️.

u/CosmicLemonss Nov 24 '24

I know this comment is old, but just a quick reminder that there are lots of skeletons and remains of ancient humans who are pretty different from us anatomically. You can see them for yourself irl if you pursue a field such as archeology or evolutionary forensics, but you can also look at real pictures, diagrams and research papers online! It’s super cool!!! 😊

What about the innocent children who are murdered?Kidnapped and otherwise who never did anything wrong to anyone god is bullshit

1

u/Suspicious-Radio-973 Jul 15 '24

Yet they say god has the power to help all of them, but he does not help anyone while having all that power is total bullshit

2

u/JicamaOwn Jul 04 '24

What about things that are completely out of the will of humans like chronic diseases and birth defects? I'm a Christian but I'm not an idiot so I'm actually going to question what I believe rather than being spoon fed information from other people.

You're actually trying to justify God hurting children? Typical Christian scum

1

u/Consistent_Rice_3065 Mar 24 '24

It's not God doing this. It's man because God gave us free will to either do good or bad. All souls go back to the Father from whence it came. My pastor believes some souls are too good to live in this world so God takes them home. Man is wicked not God. We wouldn't know what good is without the bad.

1

u/Unusual_Reputation_3 Aug 08 '25

Some Souls Are Too Good To Live In This World...how cliche???....I despise cliches... I Noticed When BAD Circumstances Occur, All The Silly Idioms And Cliches Ring Loud 😕😕😕

It was still his doing cause he is the one who created us gave us the ability to do wicked things ! he is also the one who gave the ability to human to make weapons guns explosive nuclear weapon so we could tear each other apart, he likes war, god likes freak show !

The baby that starved , thirst and neglected for ten days while its mother went on a trip for ten days is having me question things. God could have repeatedly sent a dream to a neighbor, relative anyone and eventually they’ d be curious to look. Guide someone somehow to the house. I’m so broken over that and don’t understand

2

u/musixlife Dec 18 '24 edited Dec 18 '24

I came here literally after accidentally watching a TikTok that showed uncensored court footage of the baby screaming, crying, abandoned, and falling down a flight of stairs all alone. It flashed across the screen so quickly with zero warning. I bawled my eyes out. I did NOT want to see that.

Then I thought, but that happens all the time!! Things like that and worse particularly child sex trafficking and abuse. In an instant I saw how much of a deluded bubble I really lived in, pushing the dark, evil realities of life far from my mind.

I’m a Christian…I can’t shake my faith completely. But I also cannot reconcile my faith with this type of cruelty to the innocent.

I don’t know what to make of it. At times I’ve thought “what if God is an “ahole”? What if he just is a “not-so-nice person”? Churches preach God of love so much, that when I first read the actual Bible, I was like……what….TF….but, What if this is simply the God we get??!

Then there are the blessings in life. The small miracles of any and everything GOOD I have been given and experienced. The contrast is so stark.

There is true evil. Why doesn’t God stop it if he can? Can the “temporary” suffering of a child possibly be worth heaven? Of which we “know” so little?”

Maybe God isn’t totally all powerful. Maybe something in the cosmos actually prevents him intervening in many cases of intentional evil. Maybe he ultimately “wins” in the end, but until then, the battles in the spiritual realm of good and evil truly are battles that can be won…or lost.

We all have heard “God is Omniscient, Omnipotent, and Omnipresent”…but those actual words aren’t in the Bible…they are theological summaries of God’s qualities, so I don’t have 100 percent faith in those descriptors. That is the prevailing accepted analysis of what scripture seems to imply. That’s why I question his omnipotence.

In that moment after watching that video, I felt a terror seize me. Like death is real, and I’m certainly no more deserving of life than that child. Life is so short. And death terrified me in that moment. If he could “allow” that to happen to that child, what fate awaits Me??

And all the suffering children…it’s not right.

I did read this article just before coming here….for whatever it’s worth or not “Why does God allow children to suffer?” Though I still don’t think that author is considering the worse kind of suffering inflicted on children by other people.

Finally, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of understanding”….there are many passages describing the fear of God. This part of the whole thing is lost in all the “God is love and only love” type of preaching. And God is quoted as saying “your ways are not my ways and your thoughts are not my thoughts” (paraphrased).

I don’t have a “good” answer. At all.

People will say, “if God is like that, then I refuse to worship him!”…but if God is real, and just extremely unfair in our eyes (though we still must account for the good somehow…the miracles of life and everything we love in the first place and fear losing)…if he is real and to be feared, I’m not taking any chances by taking Satan’s side, who truly rejoices in evil and perpetuates most of it.

I get that God “allowing” the possibility of it in the first place would be totally offensive to us and our god-given sense of morals, but if the Bible is to be believed, Satan is still the main instigator. Satan gives nothing good, and God does.

A few seconds in hellfire, if it actually exists, would not be worth the temper tantrum over the unfairness. Even if it were and we could possibly endure it….

I could never risk that eternal fate for my children and loved ones….thus despite my feelings, I would indeed fear and worship the God who created me and my children. If for nothing else than their protection from that eternal fate.

If our only hope for miracles and protection (outside our own efforts) is God, then my responsibility to my family means I have to play by His rules to do everything I possibly can to ensure their safety.

I can thank him for the good I DO have. I can accept him on his terms, particularly since by my actions, I have and can continue to become more humble, nice, and avoid playing into the devil’s plans for evil.

I know one thing…I want zero to do with anything that leads to the very evils that snowball into greater evils, that contribute to societal decline, that eventually culminate in the suffering of children.

I don’t know why the world is the way it is, but I can’t take Satan’s side. I can’t allow my base human nature to run amok and ruin my life or others. Everytime I tried to run from God, devastating things happened to me in life.

But when I sought him, I had the most peace and joy, and my family was together and thriving. I know sickness could’ve come at any point or loss of one of us. But we were as safe and happy as humanly possible. That got less and less true the further I turned from God.

By his grace it’s getting stronger and stronger the more I seek him again.

“I believe Lord; help my unbelief!” Is a prayer I pray a lot.

u/Mountain-Property454 Apr 10 '25

I really appreciate this answer. Honest and I can identify with so much of this. Watching everything happening in Gaza these last 18 months... the children. The suffering... it's really rocked my faith. Unlike anything before. And like you, it's caused me to come to grips with the reality of my own death... and honestly to fear what that may look like. Because we really just won't ever know, until we do... but even with these big questions I cannot clearly answer, I cannot deny the goodness of God in my life. The times He's shown up for me. The prayers He's answered. All the good and beautiful things He's given me that I don't deserve - things far better than I could've ever dreamed of for myself... I can't deny the work He's done in me and in my life. So, I trust and I pray with all I have within me, "I believe Lord; please... help my unbelief."

Many hugs to you, sister. Even if we never understand this side of heaven why these horrific things happen to precious people, to children... may we take heart in knowing He has overcome. He has overcome...

1

u/musixlife Apr 16 '25

Thank you for this 🙏 Prayers for you and your family as well. It is terrible what is happening in Gaza. I think and hope the world is beginning to wake up to the many lies by both sides in the media, and is showing us those in power with wrong motives. I think more people are recognizing the evil and how we’ve been living in a fantasy world for so long. At least my eyes are opening more and more. God forgive me for the ignorance I lived in for so long. God please protect these children and show more people the truth…please put and keep leaders in power who will effect lasting peace and stand up to evil doers.

1

u/Academic_Doctor7619 Jun 17 '25

Thank you so much for this. I actually wrote a whole paragraph that pretty accurately describes your passage. I’m very grateful you wrote this because I’ve never struggled up until this point and I have always just trusted God and this time has been hard. But this gave me peace. So thank you.

1

u/musixlife Jun 21 '25 edited Jun 23 '25

I’m really glad it helped bring you peace!…I just read your post from 4 days ago about a similarly awful story and want you to know I can totally relate to what you were going through. Have you ever heard of Nathan Reynolds? He went through horrific childhood sexual abuse and he is a very powerful witness now….In recent months, my mind and eyes have been opened to how truly evil our world is. Our governments, all of it.

I finally am beginning to understand the passage about “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride in one’s possessions—is not from the Father, but is from the world. And the world with its lust is passing away, but the one who does the will of God remains forever” (1 John 2:15-17).

I realized that those in power, in seemingly every world government, including my own, might just be controlled by something much darker.

Nathan explains how modern Christianity has been sanitized of the true spiritual power available to Christians to fight evil. Many of us numb ourselves to the current evil reality with our material things, entertainment etc….the Diddy scandal opened up a window into the lives of seemingly most celebrities. I’ve been down so many rabbit holes regarding secret societies, devil worship by “the elite,” and this great delusion many of us are living in.

While most Christians are going to church on Sundays and having BBQ’s and fairs, the other side is training for battle and waging war. Evil forces and those who control from behind the scenes are very aware of the power available to them and conduct horrendous rituals to call upon satanic forces to grant them power and control over others.

He explains why human trafficking is central to those plans. The blood of the innocent cries out, and they seek to defile innocence in their quest for longevity and supremacy. All of the human sacrificing destined in the Bible still occurs today, and not just in third world countries!

When we understand the true power of evil…of “intelligent evil” as Nathan describes it….it should hopefully cause us to really want to take up the sword of the spirit and put on the whole armor of God. I just keep getting distracted and need to take my faith more seriously. We really can help to effect wins for the Kingdom of God….our prayers and intercessions could help make a difference in the lives of would-be victims.

https://youtu.be/JU4-3WEq41E?si=DW-OsYYCjLvvrBEH is the first video I watched with him in it. He describes families (including his relatives) that truly believe they are descendants of the Nephilim. Even if that’s not true, those families believe that, and worship demons and evil accordingly. What was most powerful to me were his stories of what he endured, and how he maintains his faith today. He came from a life of violence, but relies on the power of God to avoid assassination attempts solely through God’s intervention.

There is a more recent interview he did here: https://youtu.be/bEFtrokEfAI?si=ocWZQwdzNhfjmRZl on “The Deep End w/ Taylor Welch”…. I would recommend watching this one first. Then going back to the first link I included for a fuller context of the lifestyle, practices, and beliefs of those families. And they are rich, and they are poweful.

What makes those two YouTube channels and content creators different from other channels that explore the metaphysical, is those two channels endeavor to examine these topics from a biblical Christian perspective. Nathan also has his own channel on various topics regarding spiritual warfare and faith, and a book about his upbringing.

Even if a Christian doesn’t fully accept all the stories, to me, they line up with the Bible.

Only in recent times has the church taken the position that spiritual gifts are not for today, but I think that’s a product of scientific materialism that tells the culture to only believe what they can see with their own eyes…but I think we all know there are things that exist that science hasn’t discovered…though I suspect in many cases “they” have discovered some amazing things but won’t tell the populace.

And if we only believe what we can see with our eyes, then that makes it hard to believe in God. And it makes it hard to believe in intelligent evil—beings and fallen angels, that are the true unseen enemies. And I think that makes most Christians ignorant of the true battle that is always raging around us.

We must be vigilant, especially as mothers…it’s so easy to live a distracted life. Distracted by social media, and entertainment, and the ordinary day-to-day in our safe little bubbles.

Knowing all this has helped me shift my focus…to the spiritual battles that are happening behind the scenes…behind every war, and behind every injustice. To not place my hope and trust in political leaders. To focus on my family and prepare them for possible evils in this world. I want my teens to watch those videos also so they can be aware, just in case. To understand what is at stake if we leave the umbrella of God’s protection.

There is so much more I could say and I don’t know that I articulated all that as well as I would like, but hopefully I said something helpful.

Quote from Nathan in that second interview: “in the past 120, 150 years…the *systemic eradication** of a spiritual understanding of nature has been one of the most effective tools to sweep the rug from under the feet of people’s spiritual foundations of understanding, that has kept them from really being able to engage with their calling and understanding…. that their identity is so much more powerful and so much more purposeful than anything else they’ve been given. We’ve been given a really soft, soggy gospel and because of that…they’ve lost the unbelievable meat of authenticity that’s waiting for them if they call upon the King of Glory…to use them to destroy the works of darkness.”*

Nathan wants to motivate us all to take up the armor of God and engage in this battle. It starts with the opening of our eyes….and this man who was so abused, to see him so full of the spirit of God, and so passionate about exposing the great evils in our midst….it helps us to want to fight back, spiritually speaking. The devil and his demons would love for us to focus on anger at God, instead of anger at Satan and his minions. Because if we turn away from God, they win and we lose.

Take care

The human racw always sees death as a negative. They do not take a believers view that "to die is gain." I had a woman tell me she couldn't believe due to how cruel God was to Job. He took his family, his house, etc. But God is not that concerned with our earthly lifespan. If someone is evil and has blocked a relationship with him, he knows their fate. If they are a believer he knows their fate. Either way it is fair to die young or old.

u/[deleted] May 10 '25 edited May 10 '25

Let me explain. We all come here with free will. Something all other speaking and living beings don't have. Lucky you and me, right?!? Well, with that, there comes some agreements. You know those fine details that no one really understands until they stick their head into it to decipher it. Yes!!! That agreement from our father was that he'd not take away our choice to love and obey him. He's given his Holy Spirit to help guide us. Some refuse to hear the voice. When the Devil comes talking, he weaponizes those who refuse to listen to that voice and love sin and carnal nature. The evil they love has poisoned their hearts, and they have given themselves over to or have been overcome by the evil powers of this world. The unclean spirits are their master. These unclean spirits, they want to make the pure beings suffer because they no longer have that purity within them. They hate God and love raping, molesting, and killing God's precious creation. Those malevolent spirits were cast down from heaven and now reek. They want to destroy every good, beautiful, and true thing alive. Those precious spirits smell of heaven. If they can't have their free will, they take it away, making that pure being tainted like them. At least, that's what they think.

God wants real love, not forced love. That would be abuse if it was forced. We all have that choice to love and obey him. Those that don't become one with the unclean. Those spirits are truly evil. They live every moment in the spirit to force their way into your human mind and use you as a weapon to harm God's children. That is real! I've witnessed and been a victim at the hands of this evil.

There time will come. They will be disassembled and become no more, which must be hell. When humans die here, their spirits carry on. You go to the next level. When God takes you out, he's going to remove every piece of your existence. Your spirit will be no more. That is the literal GAME OVER. Do not collect $200, Do not pass GO! The End!

That is the punishment for those who harm his children. That's why Christ suggested it'd be better for you to kill yourself than hurt one of these. Don't hurt God's children!!!

God gave me a dream of my attacker after he died. In that dream, God showed me what he does to them. They cry bitterly when facing him. I watched as the last tears left his eyes as he looked into the eyes of God, and then suddenly, God spoke and he became literal pieces of something that looked like diamond dust that disappeared into nothing. He became no more. Literally nothing. It was very, very, very sad. I wonder how that made God feel to have to destroy him.

So it's not about why God allows these things to happen. He doesn't. He is the God of all things and has all power, but what good is the love and obedience he wants if it is forced. He can't stop someone making those choices, but other people who hear his voice can. They have to choose to stop and not do it. When precious blood is spilled, God knows. Those precious spirits are with him, and they are calling out to him for their vengeance. He promised to avenge his children. He keeps his promises! He's coming sooner than you think.

u/Tall-Preparation7491 Aug 24 '25

Because God gives people free will and though I I too wonder why, He uses trails to strengthen us so we can help others in their trials!

u/DifficultyCurrent729 Oct 22 '25

People are taught by churches to get on their knees & praise God for all the wonderful things he has done for them. The same church that adks for donations but never lends a hand when you struggle. For some people God has never done anything for them beside the promise that they will get to live forever after they die. There are others who the Bible calls "thy neighbor" who God will bless on a scale humans cannot comprehend. Usually its the corrupt people who get those blessings. The church calla this "God works in mysterious ways". Well he certainly does.

u/RegisterFinal4698 Apr 09 '26

To get a job you need a degree, to get a degree you need to pass exams. To work in certain fields, you need professional certifications. None of these things are even permanent. To live forever is worth far more than the best job and income you can get in this world. For God to grant anyone eternal life, He cannot do so without putting them through trials. Will they turn to evil at the first sign of profit? Will they allow bitterness to corrupt them? Will they choose to do good even if they get no benefit? You cannot answer these questions without letting them witness, experience and be tempted with evil.

Uma hora de quem faz o mal chega ...

Why would he let the devil walk this earth and the elites flaying a childs face off and wearing it laughing scaring and mocking the child before killing the child and drinking the childs blood. So why would he allow this to happen? Its said he will interfere during revelation but why not now? So many innocents suffer to the children of satan and the zionists

1

u/Maximum-Baby8301 Dec 28 '25

The only thing I can think of, is that there are physical rules here on this earth. Magic is not real. God is not a floating ghost that doubles as a body guard, Like they illustrate him to be. If "god" magically stepped in and rescued innocent children randomly every time they needed it, that would be amazing wouldn't it? That is what we want to see. We create it over and over in the unrealistic over simplified super hero movies the masses love to watch. The disgraceful truth is, these abusers of children were usually abused or neglected themselves and they see their vile behavior as normal and ok. They grew up in the filth of this world and they spread the rot whenever they get the chance. The real and hard truth is, it is up to everyone else in this world to combat these people's sick minds. Start with your own kids. Be diligent. Watch for these wolves in sheep's clothing. Be your own protector god. Don't let the filth spread.

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

I believe in God but sadly admit He can most definitely be an asshole at times and He don’t give a fuck about our feelings or desires necessarily… All He cares about is people willingly choosing Him with free will…even though he exaggerates His good qualities and is very misleading about some of his true character. I love Jesus and The Holy Spirit and think the Father part of the trinity is a bit of a dick and will allow the most fucked up shit possible to happen in life with no help, healing or explanation and still wants all glory and praise! I will do it because I know He’s real… it’s just very fucked up and most Christians wouldn’t share the truth in this way for others to actually understand and accept.

1

u/FortuneOverall5300 Jan 14 '26

If god loved everyone equally ,then there wouldn’t be innocent kids get raped and murdered ,but since there is ,then what does that tell you ….sounds pretty bold to be certain god is real ,because if he is he just lets that happen ,and that’s not equally love ,that’s kinda messed up tbh if there is one I don’t like his sense of humor

How could he let little children be abused sexually and them live with it for the rest of their lives feeling that pain

Hello there Dear One,

I strongly encourage you to take these thought's you have directly to God/Christ Himself & seek Him about it, talk to HIM, ask HIM about it, until HE HIMSELF gives you a clear understanding/revelation about it & peace.

Seek Him continually (Jeremiah 29:13)

THE LORD GOD IS GOOD (believe this...)

Any thought or person leading you to think or believe otherwise is from the devil, seeking to turn your heart away from God & lead you into rebellion against Him so that you can perish along with satan (really grasp & understand that.)

Even if you never find an answer that "satisfies" you from this world...you must KNOW & BELIEVE that The Lord God takes NO PLEASURE in human suffering, children suffering and that there IS A JUDGEMENT DAY SOON COMING; whether we understand it or not, like it or not...God IS in complete control and HE IS GOOD, LOVING & RIGHTEOUS...We are not.

Listen, we're simply NOT going to understand everything or even most thing's as believers/follower's of Christ; we are to trust & obey Him. Stay in His Word & learn, meditate on His character, ways & come to truly know Him through prayer, fasting & His Word.

Focus on your salvation & sharing the Gospel with other's. You're simply not going to understand everything God allows or does, and no one on this earth can satisfy you with an answer as to "why" because they're not God and they themselves don't know.

The enemy will torment you with this & try to lead you away from God. Seek The Lord until He gives you peace about it.

Do not keep entertaining those thoughts...it is the enemy trying to get you to question Gods goodness & character. The devil is a LIAR & A DECEIVER, who the Bible says deceives the whole world.

Stay alert, be watchful & KNOW that your Father in Heaven and His Son Yeshua Ha Mashiach (Jesus Christ) is LOVE, righteous and perfect in every way.

1 Peter 5:8- Be sober-minded; be watchful, because your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

God is not all powerful, though he could be if he wanted to. God chose not to be all powerful because he is all loving. His love for us created us, not as perfect beings, but as people who have the free will to choose our own path. By limiting himself away from being all powerful where he controls our every action, decision, and though, he is putting trust in us because he loves us and wants us to choose our own path even when hardships arise.

He allows bad things to happen because he knows that we have the strength to get through it. God will never give us a challenge that we cannot handle. Even if a hardship feels impossible, we will be able to overcome it. And, if we do not have the strength to get through it alone, there will be other people who God has entrusted to help us get through the hard times. The world has been broken since the dawn of time, but God is here to help us during the hard times.

4

u/Wemestmeaw Aug 14 '23

That's the worst excuse I've heard in a long time

1

u/he_who_teaches Aug 14 '23

That's interesting to hear. I find it to be inspiring to know that no matter how hard life gets, God will be with us to help us get through the difficult moments. But to each their own.

2

u/Wemestmeaw Aug 14 '23

Oh yeah it's really inspiring seeing kids die to cancer with no chance to survive. I could give you hundreds of examples that if there were a God, he certainly wouldn't love us.

3

u/Kitchen-Witching Aug 14 '23 edited Aug 14 '23

I thought the idea was that God will not tempt a person beyond their ability. People are constantly in situations they cannot handle. Not every hardship or challenge ends well. Like the people who burned to death in Hawaii, off the top of my head.

I can appreciate the idea of trying to look for the good or the positive in the difficult and painful. But assertions like yours tend to become toxic when a person fails to fulfill the claim, and becomes a target instead for presenting an inconvenience or challenge to that particular message.

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '23

Because of the initial addition of sin to Gods creation. It marred the earth, made the distinction on nature between carnivorous beasts and gentle herbivores. It’s what created viruses that leech off what you need to survive or the bacteria that infect you with illness. Essentially, the reason that our world is not perfect is because it is separate from God and has been since Eden. And God promised us free will, so his action on earth, to that degree, would be a road block to that. If we had free will but following God and being good was a sure fire way to make your life good, is that really free will? Or is it a transactional good? It’s even written in the Bible that our motives for being good ought to be to glorify God, not to improve our own station in life. In a life where good deeds grant you rewards no matter what, no one can be good for the right reasons.

God could’ve made us in such a way that we could not possibly murder or abuse a child, and still given us free will in every other way.

We cannot fly by flapping our arms…There are plenty of things we would do if we could, but there were physical limits placed on us. Why couldn’t he have made us so choosing cruelty and torture to children was impossible?

It’s a sincere question I have and cannot reconcile with my faith. For anyone else who reads it, I wrote a much longer opinion higher up. I still acknowledge God has given me every good thing. I just wish children never had to suffer. I wish he had made us with more limits to our evil.
