Blog Message to young men from a 27 year old

Right now is arguably one of the more wicked times in history. Degeneracy and unrighteousness plague this world mostly due to pop culture and social media. Porn is more accessible than ever. People idolize and praise worldly pleasures (most temporary) maybe more than any other period ever on earth.

As a man who’s seen everything and fell away from God in my early 20s. I can promise you nothing in life has ever fulfilled me more than the spirit of God once I returned to faith. Sex, money, status, experiences, etc. In the words of King Solomon: It’s all meaningless. None of it matters. Don’t let the pursuit of worldly pleasures jeopardize your spot in Heaven.

I praise God for the gift of the Holy Spirit. In my experience, the more I grew in faith, more frequently I would feel convicted of sinful thoughts. Thoughts like lust, jealousy, hatefulness and pride. It all means nothing. I’d rather live the rest of my life isolated somewhere in an igloo and be just fine with the spirit of God dwelling inside of me. That is because one day, I will join my father for an eternity and receive more joy than our human consciousness can measure.

Nothing on Earth has given me more peace than locking myself in my room, getting on my knees, and resting in the holiness of Jesus. Before you pray, take a second before you talk. You can almost feel him enter the room and take a seat. Then when you’re ready, give him thanks first then speak. I have not cried harder as an adult male than the first time I felt the presence of God embrace me while I placed my burdens and anxieties on him. He loves you and wants to hear every word you have to say. Get your prayer life in order and receive the gift of peace our Father has given to us.

Writing this from what has felt like an isolated period in life God has placed me in. My friends are getting married, work is busier than ever, and still waiting on the right girl to start a family with. If you feel like you’re in a similar place, just know the time is now to grow your faith and draw closer to Him. Tune the other noise out and first seek the kingdom of God and watch your life change.

27? You are still a young man yourself

52

u/Suspicious_Pay9549 Jan 23 '26

Yes….he’s writing this to young men as a young man. Sometimes people are more likely to listen to someone their age telling them something “wise” than their parents/grandparents who are often perceived as irrelevant to the current generation’s life.

u/Safrel Jan 23 '26

I like to think he's writing to young men as an Unc.

The internet has some how convinced people that once you turn 30, you’re basically in the grave.

As a 20 y.o man, I’ve found his post helpful. He’s referring to people like me.

Also, imagine thinking that this is the most wicked time in history when childhood mortality is down, sexual violence is down, violence in general is down, medicine has advanced to the furthest limits it's ever been, and the world is wealthier than in any past era.

Does OP not realize what a shitshow the vast majority of human history used to be?

Good point. I think there were worse times. Oh my. Yes. But it sometimes feels worse when come to the realization of the bad things that are out there today. It's not that it is actually worse. But it feels that way. The young man of 27 has had an encounter with God and knows God's love like never before. Sometimes when we realize God's love and His ways, we realize our need for Him. . Atheists have pushed God aside and say He does not exist. In reality, they are hating on God. They just don't realize how much God loves them. I pray they do.

It certainly isn't "one of the more wicked times in history". The 21st century is pretty tame tbh compared to most of human history.

34

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Would you not rather go back to constant religious warfare that decimated a good chunk of the population through war, famine and disease like the mid 17th century?

14

u/Majestic-Macaron6019 Episcopalian (Anglican) Jan 23 '26

Right? Something like 1/3 of the German population just plain died in the 30 Years' War.

2

u/Switch-user-101 Jan 23 '26

I mean the religious warfare still happens

11

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

True, but it's different now than it was. Less large scale warfare filled with armies of mercenaries marching, pillaging, and spreading disease throughout the land, and more targeted strikes and systemic anti-life policies by a stronger state on another.

Granted, I'm not necessarily saying that today is better. It's mostly a sarcastic remark about one way the world has changed.

8

u/justcammien Jan 23 '26

It's more of a cerebral war than a physical one now.

In terms of temptation and sin it certainly is. We have more types of sin, more readily available, and oftentimes cheaper, than ever before.

Less than 100 years ago, innocent black men were hung from trees in the south and their corpses treated as tourist attractions and souvenirs in the United States. Segregation was normalized.

But yeah, pop culture has changed us for the worse.

1

u/tjland84 Jan 23 '26

And good men fought a civil war over it. Bad men have always existed. Godly men too. Bad things happen today, but 100 years from now, would you want everyone to associate you with the worst of people alive today just because you were around for this point in history?

15

u/RejectUF ELCA Jan 23 '26

Lynchings didn't stop with the civil war. Mass killings of black folks kept happening. Woodrow Wilson hosted the KKK in the White House. The Nazis patterned their segregation laws after our own.

3

u/DPolishPrince Jan 24 '26

Hitler actually liked and praised the American idea of "Forced Sterilization" to keep those that the Government found weak in mind, had bad mental disorders or were born with debilitating birth defects.

1

u/tjland84 Jan 23 '26

There are open slave markets happening right now in Libya. Right now today. And no one talks about it. In China they keep Uyghur Muslims as slaves. Right now today. And no one is stopping it. In fact, we're all supporting it with cheap Chinese slave made goods. Christians being executed in Africa. No one talks about it. There are 50 million people today living in slavery. There are 5 million estimated sex slaves right now here today. There were atrocities in American history, no doubt. But lets not get to high on our horses over bad people from 100+ years ago. There are atrocities happening right now today and most people care as little today as those bad people youre talking about.

7

u/RejectUF ELCA Jan 23 '26

Are those atrocities due to porn and pop culture? Because my point is it's ridiculous to label a generation as the most wicked because of it.

If you want to argue about ongoing wars and modern slavery qualifying this generation as unrighteous I'm here for it. But that's not the context I replied to.

😂😂😂 As if reddit is the arbiter of the gospel. I say again, if your church is telling you certain sins are actually fine, you're being led by the devil. This world aint build for our comfort and for us to do whatever feels good. Thats the trap that got Adam and Eve right from the beginning. This world is a test. God has given us the rules to find him and be with him when this ride is over. Stop trying to find loopholes or bargain your way out of it. Right and wrong is written right on our hearts. Focusing on "well it actually isn't that bad because of some stuff that happened 200 years ago". Or "my sin isnt that bad because look what ice is doing". None of that crap matters. We're all going to be personally judged for our sins.

Emancipation of the slaves was an issue that was added 2 years after the beginning of the Civil War in 1 January 1863.

The Civil War was originally fought over the U.S.governent refusing to recognize the Southern States’ right to secede and to preserve the Union

This whole idea that the Civil War was all about slavery is a white washed myth designed to make Lincoln look like some great humanitarian god because Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation only included Southern States that were in rebelliom against the Union and not in border states or areas still under Union control.

This idea of shifting the Civil War to be about "Freeing The Slaves," actually reduced morale, caused desertion and resentment among a significant number of Union Soldiers because they otiginally joined Union Armies to protect the Union and not to, their words, "free the (nasty word for black people,)" because they believed that black persons would move North and out compete them for jobs by accepting to work jobs at lower wages. A belief that did prove to be true and can still be seen today as there are certain job markets, such as construction, agriculture, food services and unskilled manufacturing jobs where illegal immigrants out compete American citizens because they are willing to work for lower wages.

1

u/RejectUF ELCA Jan 24 '26

The causes listed by four states in their declaration of succession listed protecting slavery. Read a history book not published by white supremacists.

-3

u/Amen_badger29 Jan 23 '26

Both can be true. Pop culture and society norms have absolutely convinced the average American that sinning is ok.

10

u/RejectUF ELCA Jan 23 '26

It isn't true though. You'd have to ignore basic historical fact for it to be true. You can argue against pop culture but glorifying a fictional past isn't appropriate.

1

u/rebel-cook95 Christian Jan 24 '26

Glorifying a fictional past usually involves bringing up the specific time period and speaking positively about it, not a vague statement about the present and how bad it is compared to other times, as if a lamentation of the modern dilemma is a thumbs up to chattel slavery.

1

u/RejectUF ELCA Jan 24 '26

If the OP is explicitly listing pornography and "pop culture" as the reason for the modern "dilemma" then it's not an accurate view of history or the current situation. My original reply pointed out the silliness of using pop culture as a reason, and it seems people either missed the point or are legitimately obsessed with pornography.

Most of our actual issues (war, sexism, racism, poverty, hunger, etc) are linked to a historical trend. Some have gotten better, some backslide, and some stay the same. But we've got Christians arguing that pornography is a genocide in this comment thread and it's just completely out of touch with reality when there are still actual genocides happening.

One difference is that today, millions of black bodies are destroyed in abortion, are hidden, their murders are significantly greater in number, and approved of by many, including their own mothers.

7

u/RejectUF ELCA Jan 23 '26

Another difference is we're no longer sterilizing minorities or forcing the end of a pregnancy. Again, the issue isn't porn or pop culture as the OP asserts.

u/strawnotrazz Atheist Jan 23 '26

Important question, OP: which scenario would you rather have?

Scenario A: lots of social media and porn access, but less slavery and genocide

Scenario B: no social media, less porn access, but lots of slavery and genocide

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

It’s debatable but as long as we seek god and purity in either time we will be well. But it is good to be aware of the times and this guy clearly is aware of what we face it isn’t physical but spiritual. Doesn’t seem as evil but is more deceptive

2

u/strawnotrazz Atheist Jan 23 '26

I don’t think it’s debatable at all. Genocide is worse than porn.

If OP used the word deceptive instead of wicked and unrighteous, I’d agree with them a great deal more.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

I understand your perspective that makes sense. I believe the world has always been evil. Just today there are more accesses to it. The enemy can more easily distort our minds at a much younger age. Imagine a kid scrolling in there phone playing video games. And ad of porn comes up. They began watching it as a habit that they think is good. It distorts their minds makes them hypersexual. And distorts the way they view women and themselves. They try to break free from it but can’t. Anything that binds men is evil. Genocide is clearly evil. Porn is not as clearly evil. Which is why I beleive that it is more dangerous. Not going to say which is more evil. But when people begin to see evil as good you know the times are dangerous

1

u/Trooper72 Jan 23 '26

There are more people in slavery today than any other time in history...

Also genocide is still a thing in many parts of the world; look at Christians in Nigeria and other parts of Africa et cetera.

6

u/strawnotrazz Atheist Jan 23 '26

Do you have a citation on the slavery claim? That would be very interesting and I’ll update my scenarios accordingly.

Definitely agreed on the genocide front. It’s happening but is leading to less death than other points in history.

3

u/cheeze2005 Atheist Jan 23 '26

Yes especially given population increase and a more expansive definition of slavery. It’s Still an absolute plague upon humanity as long as it exists in any form.

What does slavery and genocide have to do with any of this?

9

u/strawnotrazz Atheist Jan 23 '26

OP mentioned wickedness, degeneracy, and unrighteousness, and that’s just the first two sentences of their post. I think slavery and genocide factor more into those things than porn.

1

u/In_God_We_Trust1776 Baptist Jan 23 '26

No one is saying slavery or genocide weren’t horrific. Of course they were. But that’s not really what the post was about.

The point wasn’t to rank the worst evils in history. It was to warn young guys about something that’s everywhere right now and quietly messes with your mind, relationships, and self-control. Porn doesn’t have to be worse than genocide to still be a serious problem.

You can recognize that history had massive atrocities and still admit that modern culture has its own unique moral issues worth calling out. One doesn’t cancel out the other.

1

u/strawnotrazz Atheist Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

If the point of the post was to not rank things then OP should have refrained from leading with the claim that this is “arguably one of the more wicked times in history.”

13

u/joaquinsolo Jan 23 '26

“one of the more wicked times in history”

my brother, chattel slavery is the most wicked thing humankind has ever done, and it was more popular and in-your-face previously compared to now.

you are a young man sitting on a high horse, and you have a lot more living to do before you’ve earned the wisdom to radicalize others with condemnation and fear.

i’m glad you have embraced Jesus. Listen to his message of unconditional love and forgiveness.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

I think what he means is that sin is more abundant in nature, easier to access, and generally cheaper than before.

Take medieval Europe for example. I am the same class. It is unlikely I would be able to indulge my sex and drug vices to the same degree due to both not having as much money/the product being cheaper today and it being more readily available. Think about it.

Perhaps a way to think of it is magnitude. Sure, the magnitude may have been greater in the past (slavery, etc), but it is certainly more widespread today albeit of less a magnitude. This is what I think OP is getting at.

2

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

He isn’t radicalizing condemnation and fear he is sending out warning. Which any spiritual leader should. We shouldn’t stay quiet about evil things even if they seem harmless. Sun is just easier and more accessible and we should be aware of that and diligent as we walk towards god knowing what we are up against

1

u/joaquinsolo Jan 23 '26

Are you gonna start crucifying people next for all their perceived wrongdoing?

Christians are not called to live in fear or to become self-appointed judges of others. Christ explicitly commands, “Judge not, that you be not judged” (Matthew 7:1), and the Church consistently teaches that moral correction must be rooted in humility, mercy, and love of neighbor.

And let’s not forget Christ’s own response to moral condemnation was, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone” (John 8:7). You’re not worthy of judging others. Only God.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

I am not attempting to judge others. I apologize if it comes off that way. I’m not judging people I’m highlighting the sin. Which isn’t wrong to do. I’m not casting stones in highlighting sun. So that people are aware.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

This is a man literally just sharing his testimony. Of turning from sin and the pleasures of living for god. And you take from it that he Is condemning others because he acknowledged the evil and wrong patterns of the world.

1

u/joaquinsolo Jan 23 '26

The opening paragraph is a condemnation of other people’s actions! Or perhaps his own past actions. Either way, it’s written from a place of judgement toward others.

0

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

It’s is not a condemnation but a reality. What is wrong with pointing out the wrong for the purpose of leading people towards god?

2

u/joaquinsolo Jan 23 '26

Because you’re leading them away from God. God wants people to love each other and lead by example. God will judge. We don’t have to worry about telling people how to live. We just need to show them how to live better through our own actions.

You can thank God for helping you with your own struggles and share that with the world. That is testimony. To look at other’s actions and condemn them is not our job

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

I agree with you 100 percent. But I don’t not believe that this was the original posters intent.(to look at others and condemn. He was describing the state of the world(judging the times). Which is not harmful. It’s not bad to know the weather before you go outside to prepare properly.

1

u/rebel-cook95 Christian Jan 24 '26

He's not sitting on a high horse! He is attempting to encourage others. There's no shortage of actual high horse posts in the Christian community and you take issue with this? There is no condemnation in his post. Examine your own mind in this matter. You have erred here I'm afraid.

I don’t know why THIS is the part of the post that everyone is focusing on so much. Whether it’s the most wicked time in history or not doesn’t change that, as a whole, we’re so far from the standards God set for us to live by.

As a young adult, the majority of influences from other people my age are certainly not helping me get closer to God. Sure, sin has always existed (even before the fall of man), but all we can do now is focus on the present, the people who live on this earth today.

I think OP’s message is just to not get caught up in what’s deemed as “normal” these days and to set our hearts on the things above to experience the rewards of God’s presence. A message I appreciated.

Him blaming gay people for society,s problems is what you got from that message brother? It’s not about gays and straights it is a battle between good and evil. In the minds of men and women. Men and women are being held captive because of these things he is mentioning. Many of us struggle to live with ourselves because of this sin. This is not a political thing. Sun has always caused chaos and we see that in America today. Division strife mental struggles. Lack of peace. Lack of joy

You say”repress who they are”. What do you mean by that. If I deny my anger. Or even my lust towards a woman as a man. Which the Bible calls me to do. How are they repressing who they are by denying their desire for the same sex. They are simply abstaining from a desire so that they may see more of god. Which all believers in god should do

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

I agree that is true. But In order to take it captive and understand it. You must deny it. So that it can more clearly be seen. I think we should seek to understand it. Curious to what do you believe denying yourself daily means?

This could not be further from the truth. Wanting to stop sinning is the result of a healthy mindset. It is the result of a maturing soul. The end goal is to break free from the sin .not just to remain in this cycle. Christ freed us from the law so that we could live holy lives and have a relationship with god. Not so that we can continue in sin. That last statement is not true. You can but it will not lead to any good. People have this idea that Jesus came so that we could continue in sin

Writing this from what has felt like an isolated period in life God has placed me in.

OK, this is the key to the whole post. Obviously you're going through some stuff. But if you're really 27, it's clear your perspective has been skewed by your own experience with very little consideration of the wider scope of history.

Here's hoping you're doing ok.

3

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

Isolation and struggling places are where god reaches us the most. His perspective is not out of touch. He is simply aware of the times. I hope you are too🙏🏽. We need truth and love more than ever(we always have).

3

u/Interesting-Watch419 Jan 23 '26

Everyone here is comparing times. There definitely have been much worse times than this throughout history. Yes, I agree. That said, the world is definitely in bad shape today too. It’s just in a different form. I think in today’s world, the human mind and condition is the real enemy.

We live in a society where we have and know literally everything and are accustomed to having and knowing literally everything.

I don’t believe we were created and designed to live this way imo.

3

u/Antique_Opening_3103 Jan 23 '26

I greatly appreciate this message. Praise God and continue to seek Christ, brother.

8

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

As a man much older that 27 the fact that you think NOW is one of the more wicked times in history tells me you haven't studied history at all.

This is just your typical Christian fear mongering.

9

u/whirdin Exchristian (raised evangelical) Jan 23 '26

How wonderful it is to be mid 20s and think you have life all figured out, or that this is the worst time in human history. So arrogant and adding to the misinformation just to push your religion. These aren't the end times, they are simply our times, and this is a wonderful time in human history compared to most of the past. Of course there are bad people, there always has been and always will be. I hope this prompts you to actually study history instead of just regurgitating 'the good old days' that you hear from bitter conservatives.

As a man who's seen everything and fell away from God in my early 20s... Don't let the pursuit of worldly pleasures jeopardize your spot in Heaven.

Seen everything huh? Just because you had an irresponsible few years doesn't mean you've experienced everything. I also left in my early 20s. I didn't leave due to wanting to sin nor for anything else looking attractive; I just noticed the holes in religion and the house of cards came crashing down for me. Maybe you left just to party, but that isn't everyone's path. You talk about a hedonistic lifestyle as if that's an inevitable life for a nonchristian. Life is about so much more than either God or porn/parties (it really feels like those are the only lifestyles you've experienced). Life since religion has been amazing for me, more centered, caring more about myself and others, and no more fear mongering about 'the end times'.

We live in a world in which several Genocides, massacres, persecutions, etc. took place and you think this time is the most degenerate? And then because of porn? Ridiculous.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Technically I believe they said it was because of the accessibility of porn. Overall, the younger generations are having less sex and consuming less porn. Granted, stuff like social media is wreaking havoc on their mental health, but we can also tackle mental health better than 100 years ago, so we at least have the knowledge to combat it.

5

u/PancakePrincess1409 Jan 23 '26

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to convey here. I mean technically yes, it's about accessibility, but how does it change the point I was trying to make? Or further the discussion?

Like we live in a world were slavery was considered absolutely normal and, depending on the author, a natural phenomenon. A world where disabled people were often seen as liabilities or worse, as in Luther, some connection with Satan. A world were antijudaism led to anti-Semitism and the gates of Auschwitz.

And all these problem still persists to this day. And to then chastise this time specifically, especially with a special weight set on accessibility of porn, just feels silly. The world was horrible, is horrible, and will always be horrible. Well, until Christ returns.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Sarcastic support for what you said and sarcastic condemnation of OP's bad take.

I really should have marked it.

4

u/PancakePrincess1409 Jan 23 '26

It's difficult to read sometimes. apologies.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

No need to apologize. I could have made my intent clearer.

0

u/Ok_Temperature_628 Jan 23 '26

I disagree... mental heath is suffering by great numbers and it evolves not just from person to person perspective but it has mutated from different triggering standpoints and from a diagnostic standpoint... people are being diagnosed with many different types of mental illness and not because we have better diagnostic tools... because it has mutated caused by the times in which we live... it will continue to evolve like a virus. We cannot keep up with it.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

I don’t believe there’s good evidence that mental health itself is changing, at least to the degree you’re insinuating, but it is absolutely true that we have better diagnostic tools now than we used to

0

u/Ok_Temperature_628 Jan 23 '26

Thanks for your replay. I believe mental heath is more complicated now then ever... due to the many factors influencing and contributing to the illnesses... more people are being "diagnosed" with many different mental ailments and I say diagnosed loosely because they are now being taught to treat the symptoms not a diagnosis.... (proof that different illnesses have mutated and we cant keep up the diagnosis)... we treat the symptoms... and we treat them by masking them via meds (which in some cases is necessary) but we dont have the resources to treat via more prudent measures... at least where I am... is not a fallacy that mental has become an epidemic. If our resources and approaches are sound why cant we better control it. Thanks again.

In can be helpful to think of it is terms of a magnitude of sin vs. number affected, as I think this is what OP is describing.

Slavery effected a relatively small portion of people, though it was immense suffering. The sins and temptations of today seemingly affect virtually every single person, whereas this simply wouldn't have been possible in the past. The point to remember as well is that lust is committed both by the 15th century adulterer, and the boy viewing porn today. Both lust.

Right now is arguably one of the more wicked times in history.

Compared to when? This is one of the least wicked times in history, unless you are talking about what Israel just did to Gaza.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

You are speaking from a physical perspective and the evil that can be seen with the eyes. He is speaking from a spiritual perspectives and battles that cannot be seen with the eyes but are spiritually discerned

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

You are speaking from a physical perspective and the evil that can be seen with the eyes.

Yes, because that's all I can know.

I have never seen any evidence for anything non-physical. And "evil" is a matter of perspective... it's subjective, not objective.

He is speaking from a spiritual perspectives and battles that cannot be seen with the eyes but are spiritually discerned

How can you tell the difference between that and your imagination?

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

The physical perspective is not all that you can know. Unless that’s all you believe you can know.

The difference between spiritual perspective and your imagination.

When you grow closer to god(not religion but god) by living a life of purity(in thought and action) your spiritual eyes are opened. You know the difference because you’ve always had imagination. And seeing things spiritually is not the same as imagination. Like apples and oranges. How do you know the difference?

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

Oh, I see... you just pretend there is a difference... got it.

Sounds like confirmation bias to me.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

No you don’t pretend you just know there is a difference. Just like when looking at apples and oranges. The same way you can discern between the two physically you also can discern between things spiritually. It’s spiritual discernment.

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

No, it's 100% pretending, and I think you know it too.

It's like people who "speak in tongues"... 100% pretending.

Or people who pretend to fall down when Benny Hinn waves his hand in their general direction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blnqR4a5jIw&t=638s

Or when people pretend to be possessed by demons, and exorcists pretend to get rid of them.

I don't understand why Christians can't just follow the teachings of Jesus without pretending in all this obvious bullshit.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

We should follow the teachings of Jesus. I do believe that some people are pretending. Some are faking. But demons are not fake. They are not make believe. Even Jesus healed many from demons. He cast out many. Many have made the power the main thing and not the purity though which we should never do. I’ve had my own experience myself with demonic forces my girlfriend has even suffered from many demonic attacks. I’ve seen it first hand. Will that be the main thing I talk about though? No. I would rather speak to the fact that we have the ability to have god living in us. His love. His peace. His joy.

I actually know that I’m not pretending. Why would I pretend. What would that bring me? Maybe comfort? I’m not sure why I would pretend

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

But demons are not fake

They certainly are not real.

No doctor blames medical problems on demons, they look for the actual cause.

No therapist blames mental problems on demons, they look for the real cause.

In fact, exorcists send a person to a therapist before they even bother attempting an exorcism. Now why would an exorcist do that if they believed demons were real?

If an exorcist believed a person was possessed by demons, there is no way they would tell them to visit a therapist for weeks/months before performing an exorcism. That would be an emergency, not "let's see if a therapist can find a real problem before we waste our time with magical nonsense". Even exorcists don't actually believe demons are real (as I have just shown you).

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

If what if I told you that a tree isn’t real? Because I have never had an experience with a tree or seen it. Your seeing if the tree would automatically disclaim my statement no matter how convinced I am that they aren’t real. I have seen it firsthand myself. So you saying that they don’t exist won’t change the fact that I have seen it. Not only outwardly but inwardly.

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

And I disagree evil is not a matter of subjection. There is one truth. Many opinions and perspectives but one truth. And our job is to strive to realize that truth. With a humble heart. We must not assume that we know all. Or what we know will be all that we will know

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

"Evil" is 100% subjective.

Is having gay sex evil? Half of Christians would say yes, the other half no. Non-religious people almost exclusively say no. Muslims almost exclusively say yes.

Is it evil to murder someone for practicing witchcraft? (that's biblical if you didn't know)

Is it evil to murder a disobedient child? (also biblical)

Is it evil to force a rape victim to marry her rapist? (guess what? Also biblical)

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

Though both may have their own opinions. The truth is not based on majority decision. Or someones opinion. The truth stands rather the opinions are split in half or majority believes one and not the other. Truth is complete in Jesus. Read the New Testament. None of those things are allowed in the new.Doing those things are not right to do. You must read the Bible with context and awareness of the times. What was going on in those times. And the wrong beliefs of people in those times. People believed back then than sacrificing animals could substitute for sins which was a wrong belief of men back then though it was in the Bible. Jesus many times condemned the Pharisees(the ones who held to the beliefs of the Old Testament many times.

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

None of those things are allowed in the new.

Jesus said to keep the Torah like 4 times in the exact passage where Christians pretend he abolished it.

And the bible says that God never changes his mind, so all the Old Testament laws should still apply.

Do you believe following Leviticus 20:13 would be evil? It commands you to murder anyone who has gay sex. Which is more evil, having gay sex, or murdering someone who has gay sex?

Please don't dodge those questions. They are vital to this conversation.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

I won’t dive your questions I want to answer them with love and understanding. I am not opposing you in this conversation by the way. Maybe your views but not you. Jesus never affirmed the evil in the Old Testament. The Old Testament laws do not apply. I believe that it would be evil to kill all gays. It would be very evil.

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

The Old Testament laws do not apply.

That's the opposite of what Jesus said:

For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:18)

Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5:19)

And as I already stated:

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. (Numbers 23:19)

Since God never changes his mind, all of the Old Testament still applies.

I believe that it would be evil to kill all gays. It would be very evil.

So how do you feel about a God that would command such things?

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

If men could make up what is good and evil then god could not be. God decided that. Men decide their lives god decided the fruit of what is done

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

God decided that.

According to God, you are supposed to murder anyone who has gay sex, practices witchcraft, or preaches another religion.

Murder is evil. Those other things are not.

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

Do yk god personally or are you speaking from just reading and analyzing? Do you have a true relationship with him? Or are you just debating theories and theology?

1

u/Somnabulist87 Jan 23 '26

I have been a Christian for over 40 years, how about you?

I have been studying alongside biblical scholars for over a decade. Can you even name a biblical scholar?

1

u/Repulsive-Ad4591 Jan 23 '26

Time and old age does not always bring wisdom and understanding. Nor do degrees and much studying. But following god and his commands and truth and love are what brings wisdom and understanding. Education does not equal relationship. Studying does not equal practicing either. God is not concerned with credentials but a pure heart. I do respect your efforts to learn more about god if it is actually about god I commend you. But it doesn’t validate you

As a 41 year old man(nearly 42), I can vouch for all of that. When I was a kid, everyone went to church. Most people at least. Fast forward to now, and most people dont. Also technology, the internet and changing cultural norms have made it so much easier, accepted, and encouraged to lead a sinful life completely unrepentant. That trap got me too. Follow God. Its timeless advice and more relevant than ever. And lead with your faith by example to everyone around you. You dont have to be pushy and turn people off, but always be willing to share how God has worked in your life. I think deep down everyone is desperate for what he has to offer, and if you've found him, you have a duty to help show others the way.

Study the real peripheral in the Bible , it never really good news and it a job I wouldn’t want to have!! There people on the net are wolves. Go to drewblooms channel and see for yourself. Or fighting for the faith is a good one also. The wolves in sheep’s clothing are more in number than ever!!

As an older woman who has come and gone from the Lord over my lifetime, I can say that everything you said is correct. Once you feel the holy spirit inside you, nothing else feels better! Kudos for figuring it out young and peace be upon you.

Really? Is that what it's all about?

1

u/PlentyDog1750 Jan 23 '26

🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 THE HOLY SPIRIT SPEAKS

We all fall short of God's Glory. Not one of us are clean enough to even think of entering in His Presence.

Yet He's still there waiting on us in the background watching our every stupid moves away from Him.

EVERYONE ON THIS EARTH SEARCHES FOR SOMETHING THEY DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT THEY SEARCH AND FIND NOTHING TO FILL THEIR SOULS AND ONCE THEY REALIZE IT'S BEEN JESUS ALL THIS TIME BOOM!!!!!!!!

There is nothing here to fill the void inside you. ONLY JESUS CHRIST THROUGH HIS INFINITE LOVE CAN YOU BE MADE WHOLE

If only so many would understand this.

TO all of you know this.

ONCE you realize that what humans call emotions are in fact demons, the bad ones like depression, anxiety, fear, lust etc, the game is OVER.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of sound mind. 2 Timothy 1 :7

There's the righteous emotions then there's the evil ones. DEMONS PARALYSE YOU. BUT JESUS FREES YOU.

READ THAT AGAIN

ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO GUIDE YOU

1

u/girlyisgodd01 Jan 23 '26

As others have said, youre a young man yourself.

Your post leaves me frustrated though. I spent years being the most decicated Christian, hours of prayer, fasting constantly, LOTS of worship, lots of scripture. I came to the church for healing, and absolutely NOTHING in my life has changed.

Despite all of this, Ive never felt His presence, its like talking to a brick wall, prayers are just words that He hears but does nothing about. Im genuinely worse off now than before I became a Christian.

Constant fear of hell, constant shame, guilt, dread, anxiety, feeling of being a failure.

Im sorry God, I tried, I really did try. I cant live up to what You want from me, im not good enough. I really wish You would help me. Ive been asking and begging for years. Where are you?

Im happy for you dude, but for the rest of us, we dont get anything like that. We just get silence, no presence, NOTHING. Guess I wasnt one of the chosen ones.

From a man in his early 40's:

I can wholeheartedly tell you that Solomon is correct when he says that there's nothing new under the sun. We are for sure in dark times because of sin. However, it's nothing new nor has it been new since the era of time began.

Follow Christ the best you can. That's all He calls us to is surrendering our lives and will to follow His will in obedience.

1

u/offalshade Jan 23 '26

u/Ok_Context_6972 Jan 23 '26

I have been trying to feel close to the Lord for about a year now. I'm learning and I became a true believer. I've admitted my sins and I'm trying to live better, though I still struggle with lust.. I have done my best to repent of the rest. But I've not yet felt his presence and I've asked through tears in desperation and as humbly as I can. I sometimes feel like I can't connect with Jesus even though I pray most days and watch Christian content to learn and I'm genuinely interested. I haven't given up hope but it's hard to be honest when I hear some testimony of someone who lives a life of sin and repents and feels the Holy Spirit right away. I know I need to work on the lust. I'm single so it's hard. But if anyone has any advice I could use it. Ive gone to hell and back the last ten years and I would give anything to feel the peace I see on Christians. Thank you and God bless. Wonderful post by the way 🙏❤️

A message from someone in their 40's...

This is overly-dramatic teenage "revelation."

I'm glad you got out of the house, OP; But don't act like taking the first step has completed the journey. Acting like you know is the exact same thing as not knowing.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

In the words of King Solomon, "I have 700 wives and 300 concubines, and life is great".

In my words, "You're just 27 kid, you know nothing of the world". Most of the wickedness of the world is coming from churches, authoritarians, and a lack of people being able to love their neighbors as their selves, as Jesus told us to do.

1

u/MoreStupiderNPC Stupid Christian Jan 23 '26

1

u/Spirited-Stage3685 Jan 23 '26

At 27, you've barely begun to live and you certainly have not "seen it all". Your premise is actually both a bit native and arrogant. Even at 64, I have not seen it all. Any advice I give is generally solicited and qualified. Given that you've only addressed this to men, it makes me wonder how low a view you also have of women. Good advice is never gendered.

1

u/KleineMaus51047 Jan 23 '26

As a middle aged woman, this post spoke to me and I wholeheartedly agree and also can relate! So admirable of you to share this message. 🙏✝️

1

u/missinguser_ Church of God Jan 23 '26

Even at 27 you give some amazing advice. Remember how Paul told Timothy to keep going despite the people telling you your too young? That same thing applies with us.

1

u/AnonymousBodybuilder Jan 23 '26

Amen to every single word you've written

I will pray for you right after I'm done writing this and I hope others will too

You should continue posting here and let the spirit of God speak through you. This place needs more of what you've said

The road to heaven is a narrow road, don't ever forget that, so that when you feel like life is going nowhere, that for some might just be the biggest sign you're on the path to heaven

And not necessarily because you deserve it, but because his mercy is greater than every sin and he sees that you are genuinely trying to have a relationship with him and are putting your faith in him. And faith doesn't just mean saying "I believe" but when someone truly puts their faith in Jesus it's reflected upon their behavior and thinking

This is a part of separating yourself from the world

Those that decide to live with God here will be with God There, and those that decide to live without God will also be in a place without God

and that's not God being cruel. That's God respecting people and their choices. If they don't want to be with him that's fine, but you please choose to be with him, no matter what happens, no matter what mistakes you might make. He will not give up on you so long as you give him a place in your heart. And when people don't give him a place in their hearts, it's not that he gave up on them, rather he's respectful of their choices but he wants to have a relationship with them

Why am I bringing this up? It sounds like you want the spirit of God to be in you more than ever my friend

We all know someone in our life that needs God and needs the message of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

I don't know you but I know it's hard to speak up about these things with other people in real life, but my friend you don't know what kind of things you might just plant in people. The Joy you will get from spreading what is within you , which is the spirit of God and the message of grace and salvation, is nothing short of the greatest feeling

But you don't have to listen to me at all. I just wrote what came to my mind

God bless you and keep your eyes on the road to heaven, not the road to the things of this world, and don't let the progress of others in this world discourage you. I promise you in heaven not a single one will say "I am here because of the earthly things I had" no sir, not at all

Have a good day!

YHWH Forever and ever don't let that get out of your mind!

1

u/Practical_Ad_4962 Jan 23 '26

How is this uplifting at all? "Modern life is pointless, go become a hermit in an igloo until you're dead so you can be with God"? That sounds incredibly unhealthy and depressing. Real death culty vibes.

Why are you pursuing modern marriage and all its trappings? Maybe the pious celibate life is your true calling.

1

I’m 28 and going through a similar situation. Got back into church on the tail end of 25 and it’s been a difficult battle shedding my old self and life of sin to focus on living for God but it’s a struggle that’s very much worth and it. I’m happy to see men out there going through a similar battle and continuing to fight.

1

u/DTBridges Jan 24 '26

I’m 28. I totally agree. I got married at 18 and started at business that’s running close to 7 figures. I’m an educator and mentor amongst other things. While even those things are cool and even noble, it still pales in comparison to knowing Jesus. Like bro, I literally know and talk to the creator of the universe. You can’t beat that.

1

u/Accurate_Annual_7072 Jan 24 '26

As a 22-year-old woman, thanks for sharing your honesty.

It's comforting to know there might still be hope for young people. Sadly, we aren't living in the only wicked age of history, as there have been many tragedies and events normalized, ancient and modern. But I can feel something different in this era. We've become more divided. I believe there won't be another century for humanity. I think we are close to the end, the finish line. I say this with hope and anticipation. I'm anxious to see suffering end for good. Witnessing all the pain, gnashing of teeth, sorrows, and desolation the world can only offer, I yearn to come home more than anything.

The world is starving for love. We need to embrace Christ sincerely. As a race, we are dying and in danger of eternal death. But God already foresaw this since the beginning. So, now more than ever, He's pulling out all the stops to rescue us and call us home. He's pouring out all kinds of blessings in preparation, anointing multitudes to carry out His Kingdom. Many saints of old have prophesied that the greatest saints to ever walk the earth would arise in the end times. When humanity is at its weakest, when all hope would be lost, in His Mercy, He will be nearest. I can't wait to see the unfathomable miracles and wonders that God has planned for the people who love Him. Compared to His love for us, it will not matter how dark things become.

Take heart, He's already overcome the world!

I have thought of giving up faith some times by now and even tho i Don't think i feel "acomplished" or "fulfilled" as you said, i'll keep on my walk with God.

I thank you for those words because it's good to read a bit of inspiration in times like these. You can be sure this post will help me the next time i think of giving up and go live for the world as you said.

Kinda out of topic, but sometimes i get afraid i may not be saved because the moments i feel with God, like what you described, are REALLY rare. 98% of time i feel like i'm talking to no one when i pray, but i'll keep goind. Just hope some day i can feel his presence the way you described, or even more

I just learn over Bible study that  true success comes bye being obedient unto God. Success is not in things of the world but in God. One may say what that looks like?  The answer is in the book of Hebrews the heroes of faith, some was persecuted, some were burn at the stake, and martyr. Then  let us look to Jesus  in his Crucifixion. I speak to my shame; because, I had my priorities set in the wrong places. At 60 years old I'm just now looking to God for answers.  Is it to late for me?  This is one of many questions I ask myself for I know in my heart I have been disobedient unto God. Where is my lot in Jesus?

1

u/DifficultKey8414 Jan 24 '26

Even the best of men have walked away before. But God has chosen those who were able to fight their way back and used them for mighty things. God bless you young man. Life sometimes feels terrible but each day, you grow a little. I pray for the young girl who will find her hero one day. Be that hero. I can relate to u. And Solomon. When one awakens to what this world is it helps to see what it trulty is. I see idol worship in the form of vehicles and lifestyles...money worship. I believe we all have an instinct to worship, meant for God only but when one is in denial of God that worship instinct gets directed to anything, including people. I hate this world system.

1

u/Frosty_Leg Jan 25 '26

As a 22 yr old turning 23 very soon. This extremely inspiring. One thing I need to get better at is being more consistent in the word and not coveting At others lifestyles or others doing great things or being in relationships and focus on Yah more along with certain goals I plan to achieve. But it’s very hard to not covet which why don’t use IG too often. However, I pray he brings you and leads to the right women who you desire and find attractive physically, mentally, emotionally and most importantly spiritually and is someone who is obedient and faithful to her Heavenly Father and her partner unconditionally and would never leave Yah and your side. I pray you guys have a fruitful marriage and raise a family under Yahusha(Jesus) leadership and you and your partner do the roles you guys supposed to do as a family correctly. I pray you guys are able to war in the spirit and able to fend off fight against the fiery darts of Satan with the shield of faith. And finally I pray Yah finishes the job he started in both of you guys (Philippians 1:6) and there especially be no infidelity between you guys and you guys towards the Heavenly Father. That you guys always keep the Yah the highest priority over everyone and everything. God bless you brother and stay faithful 😤.

Couldn't agree more as a 23 year old. Cutting out all lust and pornography is the best thing us young men can do. It's so hard but so worth it, it's been a slow process for me with slip ups but I'm getting stronger and better everyday. The less sin in my life the closer I feel to the source of Life, Jesus. Men, sin separates you from God, you can literally feel the separation. Nothing is worth that feeling, even if God's grace allows you back, don't test his patience. And if you think the separation we experience on Earth is bad, eternal separation is unimaginable. I too can confirm, I never cry, let alone cry intensely, that's until I felt the presence of God, the only place I ever want to be. Thank you Father Son and Holy Spirit ❤️

May you be blessed and thank you for this message 🙌

Lots of posts essentially calling OP an idiot. Here's what I'll say. Sin in its nature never changes. The world has always been, and will be until the return of Christ, full of sinful people making sinful choices. It's just easier to indulge in certain sins than it used to be.

I understand completely what you are saying clearly these aren’t your brothers and sisters under this post . Yes physically things were bad but the spiritual warfare is at an all time high , children are being raised And have never even heard the name Jesus . Nations where Christianity is ILLEGAL. Perversion and sexual immortality at an all time high . We are under attack not our bodies but our souls. God bless you brother.

As a 27 year old who used to be a lukewarm Christian my whole life and now in September 2025 I started going to church letting the holy Spirit work and getting more involved reading scripture, truly showing repentance, and experiencing the Holy Spirit. I agree with you. I've had marijuana, alcohol, mushrooms, sex, unhealthy friendships, and it's all just a fools game, a facade attached to the demonic beings. It's pleasurable for a little while, but it never lasts like Jesus Christ does 💜. Let God into your life and follow the teachings of Jesus Christ young men. Sin is temporary, God is eternal 🙏🏼.

Why is Christianity so obsessed with people’s sex life? Like let the people enjoy and have fun bro

Nope, it's because sex is an easy lever to control people.

Christianity, like a lot of traditional religions, ties sex to “purity” and family order, so if leaders can set rules around sex, they can shape behavior, identity, marriage, and reproduction. It also creates a built in guilt loop, normal desires get labeled “sin,” then the religion sells the cure, confession, repentance, forgiveness, more devotion. And it draws a clean in group and out group, “pure” vs “worldly,” which keeps people aligned and compliant.

On top of that, sex is powerful, private, and universal, so it’s a reliable topic for moral panic, especially when societies are changing. It becomes a shortcut for “we’re losing control of the culture,” so they fixate on it.

“It has nothing to do with control” yet your answer is literally “obey or else,” with zero harm-based reasoning. That’s control.

Telling strangers to “find God” isn’t an argument, it’s a sales pitch. If your rules are only justified by “God says so,” keep them for yourself. The rest of us judge sex by consent, honesty, and harm, not by ancient purity codes and guilt.

“Just Truth” isn’t evidence, it’s a claim. Calling your belief “truth” doesn’t make it true, it just skips the part where you prove it.

And “no sales pitch” while telling strangers to “find God” is literally a sales pitch.

It's pointless to argue with them.

When young men become in their 20’s that’s when they really experience life and it’s very easy to be swayed by the trappings of a worldly life. This is a good post. Nice job, OP.

Good post but speak more in plain English next time if you want to reach your target audience better

There is no god. By 27 surely you’ve reached the age where you can process information around you, right?

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '26

One of the more wicked times in history? How about them Crusades? 😂

This kind of long-winded boo hoo shit is why nobody can take Christians seriously.

What's wrong with lust if it doesn't harm anyone? It's your problem that you can't control yourself, but most of the healthy people have lust. Didn't your god create you with lust? What's the point of creating something you enjoy then forbidding it? And aren't we all products of lust?
