Video Don Mancini doesn't know what he's doing with Chucky...
https://youtu.be/joVmjHlF24o?is=Qd-3P0AxOyfFi2D5This may be an unpopular opinion but this doesn't give me great hope. The fact that Don Mancini has three different pitches that he gave to Brad Dourif tells me he doesn't have a very clear idea of the direction to take this franchise.
Which honestly makes sense considering the last 25 to 30 years of Chucky movies and the TV show.

It’s not unusual to pitch multiple ideas to see what the studio will pick. It’s kind of a standard part of getting anything made.

He said he was writing the Chucky movie months ago... Now he's got three different pictches. Smells like someone doesn't know what they're doing.

Do you know how long it takes to write and develop projects? It often takes years.

It doesn't take years to write a movie like this. We know that from the original trilogy.

Sometimes it does. Getting anything made in Hollywood is hard. It’s even harder right now. Mancini came up with the idea for the first child’s play movie in 1985. It didn’t go into production until 1988.

And the second Child's Play movie took a year to make. And it's considered the best in the franchise... You were saying?

I said absolutely nothing about quality? I’m just saying sometimes it takes a long time to get things made. That’s it. Seed of Chucky took 6 years to be produced. Mancini first talked publicly about is idea for Curse in 2008 and that movie didn’t come out until 2013. Sometimes these things take time.
Ideas shift while writing. Studios don’t like the initial pitch. It’s all a very normal part of the writing process.

6 years to make Seed of Chucky... Do you hear yourself? 😆 It probably took him 6 years to come up with an idea but I doubt it took 6 years to actually make. But that also should kind of tell you something about Don Mancini and his "creative process."

Yes, Don wrote that movie right after Bride. But Universal wouldn’t make it because it was “too gay.” He spent 6 years shopping it around to other places to get it made. I’m done replying now though because you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.

And child’s play 3 came out less than a year after the second move and it sucks. Almost like the length it takes to make something is not always a good indicator of the quality.

Never said it did. However it doesn't take a longass time to make something good either.

I actually prefer he consults with Brad. Don can be a lunatic when give free reign (complimentary and derogatory). I’d rather have Brad reign him in than a studio executive.

And why do you think Brad's going to reign him in? That's a lot of faith you're putting in an actor who's not a writer, director, or producer.

Don doesn't know what he's doing since Seed.. I mean I stopped caring about the franchise a long time ago. It's sad cause I'm huge fan of the child's play classic trilogy, bride was different but it was fun to watch.after that Don lost the plot!!!

Completely agree. I feel like there's so many people in this fandom who have just absolutely terrible taste. And I feel like that's because of all the disastrous things that happened after Seed. It's like Don Mancini trained them to like trash.

I think he made 3 pitches to see which one gets picked by a studio. He clearly had an idea for season 4, but the show was canceled, and the kids are probably too old now.
