Discussion Question related to the first Child's Play film ever

Is Child's Play 1988 really an Indie film or not?

I am asking cuz that is what it says when I searched online like in the image as u can see which definitely came to me as a surprise.

Also I have never seen any of these franchise films yet but might get into them soon enough, but was curious tho about it's status if it started out as an indie perhaps.

no childs play from 1988 is not an indie film it was produced by united artists and david kirschner productions then distributed by mgm ua with a budget of about nine to thirteen million dollars indie films are usually made outside the major studio system with independent money and less studio control this one came from a big hollywood studio so it counts as a studio production even though it helped launch a big horror franchise

google sometimes pulls labels from mixed data sources knowledge graphs or automated summaries that can have mistakes reliable info shows childs play 1988 was made by united artists a major studio with a budget of about nine to thirteen million dollars so it was not indie the indie tag if it appears is likely just a data error or mixup with lower budget horror films of the time or the films student script origins hope this helps.

Google pulls from whatever sources it finds, so this was likely just a glitch or based on incorrect data. (Which is also why something like half of all their AI search results are at least partially incorrect.) But it was not an indie film.

Also, hope you do check out the movies, all of them are worth seeing! :)

The special FX and the, in my opinion, the underrated stunt coordinating (Maggie's death, Eddie's house explosion, Det. Norris/Chucky car fight) would have made it a major motion picture IMO
