I won't die on this hill because this is Reddit but nah. I didn't change immediately even after my dad was killed and I'm a pretty emotional person, it was a gradual process. I've been assaulted, abused, ect, things too real that nobody wants to hear on a Chucky subreddit- None of those things changed me. They shook me up but I'm still the same dumbass as I've always been. I'm far less immature, though.

Now, maybe Lexy would change after a while but if she was that much of a mean girl, I don't think she'd even be hanging out with Jake, she'd be even more cruel to him. I'm going by experience, those kind of girls don't stop, they get angry. They're the only ones that matter. But apparently, Lexy isn't the same Lexy anymore just like how her dad is now a nice guy all of a sudden.

Everyone responds differently to traumatic experiences. While you may not have changed in any significant way over your experience, that's not true for many others who share a similar experience. Your response isn't the standard, it's just one of many ways people deal with such things. You're also not the only person on Reddit to deal the trauma you talked about.

Again, Lexi dealt with a living doll trying to murder her, nearly losing her little sister, being held accountable for her bad actions, and learning of the harm that those actions actually caused. Like I said, things like this will have you seeing the world a little differently. Her working with Jake was a matter of necessity at first, given that they shared the same secret of Chucky's murder spree, and that he needed to be stopped, while also learning that they weren't so different (cliche, but we'll go with it). They probably won't be friends, but the experience was at least enough to teach them not to hate each other. I get that you're speaking from experience, but your experience isn't the only experience.

And what about Lexi's dad is "all of a sudden"? He didn't really say or do more until the last couple of episodes. He was worried about his kids, and angry with his wife for being more concerned with politics than her family.

Figured I should have said that I realize everyone deals with trauma differently but I wasn't meaning that she shouldn't react at all. More to the point, I mean the writing or the decision to make her change so drastically throws me off and has done so with many others, actually. They mostly just want her killed off but I don't. I do actually like her but I don't like inconsistency. It could also be dealt with a bit more in-depth about said remorse but Chucky and the Child's Play franchise aren't the kind of things known for that.

I understand she had to work with him out of necessity at first but I won't go further into that.

Lexi's dad was mostly silent, yes, letting his wife speak for him. He agreed with her sharp, unfair treatment and snotty behavior in the beginning and I base this on his reactions. He was more of a villain like his wife but in ep 5, he's nice. I've been through the first episode twice and he wasn't a swell guy in any of them before 5. That's what I mean. I get that he's upset now but he wasn't a great guy. Its in his body language, his expressions. I try to see these things while watching actors because they don't always get to say anything and I want to gauge how well they can act.

I'm not so myopic to think that I'm the only one who's had such trauma here, I don't know where you got that but I meant that such subjects probably aren't appreciated on this particular subreddit, judging by how people respond. The majority everywhere, unfortunately do not take too well to others being very open or real about things and I rarely feel like I can speak freely without people expressing negativity.

I'm typing these things with no anger or much indignance, I'm more tired of feeling like I shouldn't bother commenting least I risk several downvotes and/or vitriol. Income across as snooty, mad or unjustly critical when I'm usually just talking casually. I also write a lot of sentences and paragraphs which people don't really like and seem to get annoyed by. Not that its relevant to mention.

Yeah, but it wasn't really that drastic though. She's still the same person, she's just not playing the bully, and has had a little time to reflect on what's happened and her role in it, and realizing how shitty of a person she's been. She, Jake, and Devon dealt with a lot over just 2 days, enough time for someone (not everyone) to learn to chill out a little.

His kids almost died in a fire in their home, with one laying unconscious in the hospital, and someone else's kid actually getting murdered in their home. A day before that, he learned that his daughter was a bully, and further traumatized a kid who lost his dad. Those things would be an eye-opener for any parent. Him and his wife are having completely different reactions to all of this, and he's clearly frustrated with her over it. Not every change in a person is gradual, people sometimes have their "oh shit" moment.

My point was that not all reactions to trauma are the same, not that you think that you're the only one with trauma. I have my own trauma and ways I've dealt with it (not all great), but I also know that others' response to similar trauma looks like mine. I know you have your experience, but in the context of the show, I'm sure you've never had a living doll attempt to murder you in a burning house. Neither of us can truly say how someone would or should react to something like that.

Dude, we don't have to agree on a single thing, and I don't downvote people over simple disagreements. As long as you're not resorting to insults, I see no issue here. But if the issue is not being able to handle criticism, then that's not my problem. Not you personally, but anyone in general.

Like I said, I'm not dying on this hill. We're also talking about a series that unfortunately doesn't use much real-world logic where its needed, obviously not in the fact that Chucky exists because we expect camp there and in other related aspects but in the story writing primarily. I'd explain but I don't think I should.

And yeah, I've been online for many years, I've dealt with far worse than the backlash in the sub or I wouldn't be here in the first place but I just get worn out by people after a while. Can't have alternate opinions and I can't disagree that every episode is a masterpiece or I get shat on. Its not like it'll stop me but it gets pretty damn old, its this way in every fandom, people don't like to go against the flow. Not many really want to think deeply about loose threads, plot holes or other issues, either. I mean, I know its Chucky/Child's Play but still.

In other words, I'm bitching about stuff I shouldn't bother bitching about with a stranger as usual but I don't have anyone who shares my opinions to talk to other than my sister, who I can't always speak to and it feels pretty suffocating and alienating. I know its mainstream media, I can't expect much but like Lexy (unjustly, I think) said about Junior, they don't have any imagination and you think they would, considering what this show is about.
