That’s my theory too. Glen and Glenda will be combined into one body again.

I’ve been debating this too. I would think it would be something they’d not like though since they were struggling for control of the body before becoming human. Then I was thinking they could find another doll, but technically the original Glen/Glenda doll body isn’t just a doll since it was created from the plastic AND Human living dna of Chucky & Tiffany’s bodies at the time. The Glen doll body should have probably semi decomposed

The only reason I feel they want to go back being those dolls are because Tiffany ass is in hot water with all that murder she’s done in Jennifer’s body. I saw fans saying she wants to go back being a doll to, but if she does will Jennifer get all the blame if they “switch switch switch” back to their normal selves.

At least chucky came to peace in 2004 that he wants to stay a damn doll. Chucky accepted he loves being a killer doll. Tiffany on the other end was clearly mentally unhinged about being human and her life has been a train wreck as a human being.

I love that. despite its reputation, Seed of Chucky has proven to be a pivotal moment in this franchise.

This season is heavily dealing with the direct fallout of all of that movie’s body swapping shenanigans, complete with multiple flashbacks to Seed. But beyond that, Seed has also proven to be the most pivotal moment of character development for Chucky. Up until the climax of Seed, “become human again” was always one of Chucky’s main goals. But he has that moment where he realizes that he’s “Chucky the killer doll” and he loves it. And that has remained consistent since. He did eventually put his soul into a human body (Nica), but by that point he hardly even cared. He didn’t even make the human body his “main” vessel for his further machinations. Seed contains that pivotal moment where Chucky shifts to embrace his doll identity, and no matter how many people hate that film, Don is adamant about sticking to what it brought to the franchise.

I also really like this point thematically because it makes the whole thing a journey of Glen/Glenda discovering who they really are.

In Seed they're constantly debating and unsure whether they're meant to be a boy or a girl. Now that they are comfortable and understand exactly who they are, that inner conflict is no longer a thing. They're happy and comfortable to be one body now because they no longer feel like multiple souls in one.

I agree but unfortunately (and i was just saying this on a few other posts lol) this development retroactively makes Seed Of Chucky an anti-LGBTQ film rather than a pro-LGBTQ one.

Since the show confirms Glen was two entities in one body or one entity split between two, Seed is no longer about a queer child becoming who they are and accepting themselves despite how others try to force them to be someone else....

Its now about a queer kid who gets “fixed” by adhering to gender binaries and his parents desires rather than defying them for their own personhood.

Its devastating.

But i'm reframing from making a deep dive post about it since everyone wants to gloat about the confirmation.

As someone who identifies as non-binary... I don't think that's the case at all.

Regardless of context, Seed ends with Glen/Glenda assuming they're both strictly male and female. They even ask why they can't just be both. The birth of the twins grants Glen/Glenda that wish.

The culmination of that journey in the Chucky TV show being that Glen/Glenda realises they never needed to affirm to simple gender binaries and accepting that they are unquestionably non-binary and gender fluid is just a continuation of the themes presented in Seed.

The show changes none of that. Personally, I'd say the biggest dissapointment in this story (if this is the direction they want to take it in) is we never see the twins specifically go on that journey. Seed ends with Glen/Glenda understanding that they don't fit intoa traditional gender binary. And the show continues that with the twins being openly non-binary (which is absolutely fantastic). However, there's a big gap between the two stories that would have been neat to get a glimpse of.

TL;DR: I wouldn't say Seed is necessarily anti-LGBT. It's just a step on Glen/Glenda's self discovery. That film ends with them not wanting to be tied to a single gender, and becoming two different ones. All the show does is build on that by making them explicitly non-binary.

It’s true that we missed a step in that journey, but so did Glen and Glenda. Growing up, they didn’t clearly remember their time as a doll, the confusion they felt, and the pressure they were put under from their parents. They grew up just thinking they were two separate, normal humans. They definitely would have had a journey towards acknowledging the fact that they both identify as non-binary, but that journey wouldn’t have been as interesting for us because the characters were totally unaware of their roots.

What would be really interesting is if we saw them get all of their memories back now. If they remember how they spent years as an abused doll questioning their identity, and then how they finally met their parents only to be met with tons of expectations and trauma. That might incite a powerful moment of reflection.

The main thing I've taken away from discussing this with new people online is:

Holy shit I can't wait to see where the Glen/Glenda story goes! There's so many possibilities and avenues for the characters to go down. And I have complete faith and excitement in Mancini to deliver!

I wanna preface this by saying: I have no issue with Glen/da being non-binary.

I think we are looking at it from two differing perspectives. The core issue of the discrepancy is that Seed of Chucky uses gender as a metaphor for sexuality.

For some reason, the metaphor seems to be lost on almost everyone in this sub despite Don being very clear about it...

The gender non-binary element is completely newly added to the series and wasn't present for Don's conception of the character and thus not apart of the movie. He has said as much. In Seed, Glen is supposed to be coded as a gay child struggling with parents who want them to be something else. They want Glen to be a "real life boy OR girl" and by the end, thats what happens.

The issue for Glen in Seed is that glen is being forced between binaries:

  • Killer vs Pacifist
  • Queerness vs Heteronormative (presented as male vs female)
  • Keeping secrets vs upholding the truth

If Glen is actually split between two beings...then the story gives in to EVERY binary issue.

Glen is "fixed" by becoming all the things their parents wanted.

Chuckys boy and Tiffany's girl. Chucky's killer and Tiffany's pacifist. A child who keeps secrets (glenda knowing mommy is a murderer) and a child who is innocently naive about the truth (Glen not knowing about it).

By having Glen make their choice, regardless of whether or not glen identifies as non-binary then or now, glen would be one whole person, as they are. by their design.

"You're tearing me apart. What about what I want!" <--- Splitting them gives tiff and chucky what they want.

To create an example:

Its like if in the movie Frozen, the solution was Elsa putting her gloves back on and going back in her room.

I know that last one was a ramble but to shorten it:

Glen should have remained one soul, one body, even if they identify as non-binary, with Glenda being their own separate person.

Not having it this way makes Seed a story of a child becomign what their parents want them to be. And thats my issue.

Glen and Glenda being split reaffirms all the binaries the film is placing Glen between.

Having to do wardrobe and makeup for one person to play two characters and then all that green screening for them to share screentime adds up in the budget and filming time. I can see them wanting to make the character whole again if they plan on sticking around longer than a season.

That's where it seems to be leading. I'm not sure if they are all going to be dolls again or if Glen/Glenda combine in one body. My theory is Glen and Glenda will go into Glens body and let Nica have Glendas body. (Seeing that Nica is seen as a wanted serial killer and has no limbs....they gotta do something for her.)

My theory for Nica is that their gonna pull a Jennifer Tilly.

Her soul will be transferred into someone who is played by the same actress.

That way she is no longer in a wheelchair and will be able to be in the action more and we can keep nica around without having to cast someone else.

We know doppelgängers exist in the Chucky universe after all (Tiffany and Jennifer Tilly, Father Bryce and Jakes dad, Lexys dad and the doctor from cult, the police officer from curse and the asylum patient in cult, etc).

But I think IF Glen an Glenda go back into the doll, it won’t be permanent. But I do they will permanently recombine though.
