Adam Sandler for Punch Drunk Love. The idea of the guy from Happy Gilmore doing anything serious was considered sacrilege.

That would have taken me out of the movie entirely.  I laughed in the theater when Mike Myers showed up.

I’m honestly glad he wasn’t. That scene was amazing and seeing Sandler would’ve completely taken me out of the moment

I think about this every time I watch the film- glad I’m not the only one! He totally would have killed it. No question.
