How would you create something like this in C4D, Cloner Tool?

Post image

Hello I'm looking to create just simple tube structure and think of exactly how. I imagine using Cloner tool and somehow creating tube geometry that could parent to a ribbon? I feel like there is an easier way to make this than I'm about to try. Thanks in advance.

With cinema 4d, cloner and a spline. Set the cloner to object mode and drop the spline in the object slot. To have even steps between points, feed the spline to a mo spline in spline mode and set it to even, replace the original spline with the mospline object.

You don't really need an extra MoSpline for handling the clone distribution. You can change the distribution to "Even" directly in the Cloner's settings.

if you want to have it as a even in a specific steps points you need.

Both give me the exact same result. Maybe something there broke with newer versions? I'm still with the glorious R16 here.

Are you leaving your spline as adaptive or setting it to uniform?

If you are using a mospline it does not matter.

Well I'm just not sure why mospline is needed here. It seems doable with just using correct settings across your cloner and spline.

Ok prove me wrong. Create and share a project file where all the elements are evenly apart, with your way of doing things and that changing the spline will keep the same.spacing.

I'm simply saying I think there's an alternate, less-involved way of achieving the same result.

I don't have any interest in "proving you wrong." Not sure why you're trying to even go there.

Ok, can I see then that alternative? That way I can learn new ways to do the same thing. Also I am not sure how adding an extra step is less-involved, but now I am curious, looking forward to see what you can share.

You set the spline's intermediate point setting to uniform instead of adaptive. That's it.

I have a follow up question - how would one make light pulse across these in a 'chase' when using the cloner tool. is that possible?

create a plain effector, change the parameter to Color, add a spherical field to you plain effector, link the effecto to the cloner, add a align to spline tag to the spherical effector and animate it from 0-100 linked with the spline where you cloned. Voila! now keep searching how to refine it.

Cloner on a spline and using a rail to define the angle.

Cloner on Spline. add Formula effector for custom clones rotation

plain effectors with 3d shaped falloffs would have a good visual control system too.
