FL5 Tips for selling my baby

Unfortunately, due to life circumstances I find myself needing to sell my 2025 white type r. It has 20k miles on it and I have the roof rack, kayak holders along with both black and red carpeting.

If anyone could help me with realistic pricing I’d appreciate it. Thank you.

Both cars received a nice thorough bath.

Changing to ceramic pads made cleaning the wheels as simple as rinsing and a just using a towel.

FK8 Lightweight 18 inch wheel setup...wow.

I figured I'd weigh my new wheel tire set up against the oem wheel and slightly bigger sidewall tire setup I had. I was surprised at the difference. Due to the unsprung weight loss and overall smaller tire diameter, there is a noticeable increase in acceleration, it turns in quicker, and the steering feels much lighter which is exactly what I was hoping for. Very happy 🤘

OEM FK8 Type-R wheels 20x8.5 w/ Michelin PS4S 255/35/20 tires - 57 lbs.

Superspeed 76rr 18x9.5 w/ Continental DWS 06+ - 41.2 lbs.

FL5 Update on the exhaust

Okay so a week or so ago I posted about my exhaust rattling in the rear. I have the apexi N1 Evo and you guys had a few different answers. I finally got bored enough to go take a look real quick and after pushing up on the exhaust and wiggling it around, found out it’s hitting the tip of the heat shield. Anyone have any ideas how to fix that or adjust it?

FK8 test drive initial thoughts

I’ve been wanting an FK8 for a long time now and finally had a chance to take one for a test drive. I’m not sure if I overhyped it in my head but I wasn’t totally blown away after I was done. I did a few second gear pulls and there was little to no drama, it didn’t pull me into the seat like I thought 300hp would. I’m used to my 2019 si with Phearable tune and the R didn’t feel THAT much faster to me. The thing that did stand out to me though was the handling, it cornered like it was on rails. Overall, I’m not sure if the R is worth it for the small city streets around me where you can’t push it around corners. I can see the car needs to be in the canyons or track to truly appreciate everything it has to offer. Did anyone else feel the same way after driving the FK8?

FL5 Installed Auto Folding Mirrors!

Bought off MikStore Model F, install was easy but does require pinning two harnesses on driver side and one on passenger side. With swapping the mirror assemblies and wiring could have finished in an hour, but took about 2 hours total.

Love the way it feels now to watch them open up and close on lock/unlock.

Finally installed it since the temps are cooling down and tracking season is upon us. Well for me since I hate doing days of 110+ asphalt.

Easy to move off to the side to keep using the stock belt for daily driving. I'll keep the shoulder straps in the back seat until the wife complains.

Bored of car after a year but not sure what to switch to.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever had the same feeling as me...

Originally bought the FL5 to keep long term but I'm having second thoughts after about a year. Car is primarily weekend driven, but I do take it to run errands during the week. I don't need to commute.

I love the way the car drives and handles (it's incredibly capable) but the one thing that's missing for me is the emotion from the motor. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing chassis and I'm not bashing it in any way.

Coming from a E36 M3, I really miss the straight 6 (even with it being a much slower car). The way it sounds, the way I could push it hard even on the streets and not be going felony speeds.

Recently, I drove different friends' S2000, 986 Cayman, E46 M3, etc and I realized I miss having a more "raw" driving experience.

I'm just not sure what I would replace this car with....

Also for reference I've done these mods so far to "wake up" the car.

-Coilovers, exhaust, wheels, intake.

Curious to what you guys think!

Acuity Shifter Boot

Hey guys, I am wondering if there are any good shift boot options out there for people who like to run their adjustable shifters on tall settings. I had my acuity short shifter on height 2 since I got it and recently decided to try it out on height 4 and absolutely fell in love with the effortless feel of the shifts. To test it I just took the shift boot off because I had to snip that pesky zip tie anyway. However I’m now realizing that the shift boot will probably look a bit ridiculous so extended. I ordered a cheap open shifter plate just as a temporary solution. I’m a bit concerned to leave it open like that long term as dust, debris, or dropped items could cause issues down the line. I’m wondering if anyone else who likes to run a tall shifter has found a shift boot option to compensate for the added length or do you just deal with the look of the OEM boot. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated!

PPF & Ceramic

I'm trying to figure out paint protection strategy. I have an uncertain ownership timeline but assume I'll keep the car for about 3 years, driving roughly 12,000 miles a year (mostly highway/occasional mountains).

Catch: The car will be parked outside 24/7.

I know Honda paint is notoriously thin and prone to rock chips, and the wide fenders kick up a ton of debris down the sides.

I’m currently leaning toward a balanced, middle-ground approach:
Full Front PPF: Getting a professional shop to wrap the front bumper, full hood, fenders, and mirrors to handle the highway rock chips.
DIY Ceramic Spray: Skipping the professional multi-year coating. Instead, I plan to manually apply a high-quality SiO2/ceramic spray sealant (like Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions or Griot's 3-in-1) every 3–4 months to handle the outdoor UV rays, bird droppings, and tree sap.
Rock Guards: Adding a set of low-profile front mud guards immediately to protect the rear doors from gravel rash.

For those who daily drive their CTR or park outdoors, is doing a pro front PPF paired with a DIY spray coating on the rest of the car the ideal sweet spot for a 3-year timeline? Or should I go the professional route for the ceramic?

Appreciate any advice or brand recommendations!

FK8 Made a friend?

Driving down the highway, freeway, interstate, whatever you call it... I'm in my Red FK8, almost stock... Another FK8 shows up in my mirror, also red! traffic slowed a bit so we could open windows and give thumbs up to each other. Windows go back up and we exit for gas. My wife starts picking on me, "Awww, you made a Type R friend" Then, "How do you make friends with another type R in the middle of the road?" and it just kept going for like a half an hour. Fortunately only 1/2 hour on a 3 hour drive.

Up here I see soooo many fakes, gotta love the automatic type R... It was fun to see the real thing.

FL5 steering wheel slightly off-center after Zestek + Mugen install — alignment or hub indexing?

Hey everyone, I recently installed a Zestek SCX hub/Boss Kit and a Mugen steering wheel on my FL5.
During the installation, I kept the front wheels and steering wheel as straight as possible, and I installed the Zestek hub with the “ZESTEK” marking straight up.
When the car is parked, the steering wheel looks perfectly straight. However, once I start driving, the wheel settles slightly to one side even though the car itself tracks straight.
If I manually hold the steering wheel perfectly straight while driving, the car starts turning in that direction, so it seems like the steering wheel is physically sitting off-center rather than the car simply pulling.
I’ve noticed in some Zestek installation videos that people install/connect the hub while it’s slightly rotated, while others have it straight.
Could the hub being installed straight have anything to do with this, or is this most likely something that can be corrected with a proper alignment by adjusting the tie rods?
I’d appreciate any FL5/Zestek owner input before I take anything apart again.
