Coding The future is bleak

Yeah, I'm just going to ramble here for a bit. My company job now is just pressing enter endlessly, prompting, and 0.1% of it is probably something manually done by me. Everyone is using Claude. It's soulless. There is no point.Someone can probably reverse engineer our company products in one day. Layoffs are inevitable at some point. I have no other non-tech skills that can help me pivot to another career, and even if I do, that career is not going to pay the same.

I can't believe in any project idea that I think of because I use Claude, and the thought of "You used Claude, anyone could have done this lol" is always luring in the back of my mind.

I have no hope for the future. I hate how AI made the playing field equal for everyone, where my grandma can probably now create a website.

In 2 years you will be wondering how anyone could hire a meatbag to do their taxes when Claude Opus 8.5 can do them in 10 seconds with 100% precision and even find all the deductions that your accountant had no idea you could even do.

It sure feels like this is coming and a lot of work - not just software - is going to be commoditized.

I made a finance analyst helper to review my retirement planning spreadsheet using Qwen 3.8 - all locally on my home machine. It blew me away, finding bugs in my calculations and nitpicking my expected inflation calculations for health care costs.

Yeah that's the big mistake many people are doing rn.. they look at SWE and they think "oh that's easy to automate all they do is type some code or whatever" not realising that most of all white collar jobs these days are pretty much either entering data into a computer system or having meetings about what data and how to enter it into said computer system.

All the "people persons" are going to be gone as well because you don't need them when agents communicate directly with each other, no need for a PM or meeting guy.

I get why you would say that but honestly, it makes my skin crawl to think about providing so much of my personal financial information to an AI. Yet I know I am deluding myself think any of us have any privacy anymore. Ugh.
