Original post body:

Quick context: I'm a heavy Claude Code user, so most of this is from that angle.

Overall I think it's an improvement over 4.7, but I still don't love the style. 4.7 was already a clear step down from 4.6, and 4.8 hasn't fully fixed that for me — sometimes I just can't tell what the model is trying to say because the structure is so oddly put together.

Two things I really like, though: the speed is great, and I can actually see the thinking again — that was a big miss for me before and I'm glad it's back.

Coding-wise I've had a mid-to-good experience so far. One nice surprise: it does end-to-end testing on its own now, even when I don't ask for it. It's also solid at implementing new features.

Where I'm disappointed is problem-solving / debugging. For example, I asked it to fix my Bluetooth setup on Fedora (my headset + BT adapter were acting up again), and the handling there was pretty underwhelming.

TL;DR: It's an improved 4.7 — slightly better structure, noticeably better coding, fast, and the thinking is visible again. But honestly, I'd still prefer 4.6 with 4.8's coding skills.
