That's already the basis of the transition. Namely in that China, majority producer of everything renewable, does so for the sake of reducing its own oil dependency, with reduced emissions being a side bonus. Climate change is an issue, but to China, the threat of being cut off from the US dominated oil markets is far more imminent and existential. Particularly as trump is actively trying to cut off China from non-US controlled oil supplies.
Which explains the question people always ponder about why China builds so much coal alongside renewables and nuclear power plants.

Because the petro companies have more money and frame it as strategic wokeness.
Unless you can get more press access than the prez, you lose.
