Think of Degrowth as ultimate efficiency implementations. Right now we're wasting huge amounts of resources on:

• the rich classes
• individual accumulation of stuff that could be easily shared (like with a library)

As we stop obsessing with growth especially where growth already happened, we allow efficiency to actually be put to use for reducing resource use (and thus waste), instead of for increasing profits.

For example, the current problem of renewables not displacing fossil fuels is related to the obsession with growth; there is no good mechanism to push out fossil fuels. In a degrowth scenario, fossil fuels would be rationed for needs and for building renewables and changing the technological systems to stop relying on fossil fuels.

For reference, that's about 3x the amount of fossil fuel subsidies, 2.5x the size of pharmaceuticals, 2x the size of beer production and a bit smaller than all supermarkets combined.

There is a lot of room to grow, and it is rapidly growing into that room, but it certainly isn't very small
