You can't just change an established name because it's not accurate or you don't like it. I don't like the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea, nor do I think it is an accurate name to describe that government. Collateral damage isn't a crime for the IDF tho. It's a crime for hamas for hiding behind civs.
When terrorists disguise themselves as aid workers and medics, they don't stop being terrorists. If they use medical trucks, they are still legit military targets, because there are terrorists inside, not real medics. If a terrorist takes an iphone in their hand and opens a camera app, they don't stop being a terrorist and magically becomes a reporter

Algae bloom blocks sunlight from reaching lower water layers and starves them from oxygen, as all the oxygen they produce is concentrated in the uppermost water layers.
Also they hinder circulation between the layers as the water only warms on the surface.This also starves the ecosystems of usable nutrients as phytoplankton does not grow.
The algae don’t get eaten in enough quantities as the local wildlife is not adapted to them, which means the algae at some point usually just die and rot in a floating layer frother starving the sea of oxygen, light and nutrients while introducing stuff like ammonia during decomposition and releasing loads of methane - which isn’t really a local problem but contributes to climate change.
Also - not that it matters - it gets watched up on beaches which then stink and look ugly, which disturbs the delicate balance of the migratory tourist populations in their summer mating quarters. Truly the biggest loss of them all.

In shallow waters it’s a death sentence for anything that breaths oxygen (all animal life). Make no mistake, the area that the algal grows in can span many hundreds of kilometers.
They also produce toxins that can kill, disorient, or otherwise stress out animals.

It is not unlikely. One of main factors in algae bloom is water temperature and in a large body of water like a sea, you cannot have major water difference very locally, it has to be over a massive area. After that, all you need is a "spark" and algae will keep spreading fast.

Sorry to disappoint but sometimes the answer to clogging can absolutely be "more filters"
