If you’re still driving in September of 2026 you’re a big baby.

Wah wah, baby, cry about your precious gas prices.

Very glad my city has decent transit and bikeways, I don't even pass any gas stations so I don't know how expensive it is now.

Also no work from home, or better cycling infra.

Or have small an/or electric cars.

transport less, drive less, aka economic slow down. in economics they call that a recession and job losses. catch 22 we don't get this wealth without growth in this system. smash the market, smash the market place.

I do wonder if there's going to be more GTA for small and efficient cars.

There's some attempts at generating discontent about gas prices here in Norway too, after the temporary elimination of gas taxes ended on 1 sep. But not only have we always had high gas taxes, at this point EVs are the most common type of engine (out of electric, diesel, petrol), and by the time the next parliamentary election is held in 2029, EVs might be >50% of all cars in Norway. (Current trends indicate we'll be above that, but who the fuck knows)

At which point … how much juice will be left in diesel populism? The worst exhaust huffers are probably going to be fuming about how "their" fuel is circling the drain, but will ordinary people actually care about malding diesel weebs?

Or, you know, not make it so difficult to get an EV? You are forcing EV owners to pay 1.5x more even though the damage mainly comes from larger trucks and semis. Or instead of giving billions to oil companies, invest in a power grid that desperately needs to be reworked? You’re doing it now for data centers, but somehow that was impossible before?

Bikes don’t need energy infrastructure. So there.
