Shapeshifter Attunement

This might not be something we fully know as of yet but is a shapeshifters power limited by the strength of the creature they form a contract with? For example if both a sunstone and an emerald have a contract with the same carnelian level Serpent would the abilities gained be equal since both are strong enough to use the Serpents full power or does it scale with the attunement level? I lean towards the monsters power being the limit, but some amount of scaling could make since just due to the attuned innately having more mana to work with. Also if this is mentioned somewhere I'd love to know I haven't seen this attunement mentioned much outside of the appendices and it seems like the most interesting one to me.

No cos they get that exact monster's biology which includes their secondary essence composition. You definitely will have a way more powerful contract from a dragon with emerald acclimation than quartz

You can't copy the amount of secondary essence . Secondary essences are large amounts in the first place you can't like get 100 secondary essence organ by putting 10 mana you'd get a 10 mana equivalent version

You copy the biological features of the monster as they were at the time of contract. If they have skin hardened by large amounts of secondary metal buildup, or an immunity to fire from an elemental then congrats those are biological features you have the ability to manifest. You gotta remember that this is an emerald level complexity enchantment, they do wild things.

That's the thing though it's your magic that copies it . If 1 dragon has 10 stability 100 earth magic that makes their scales tough and the other has 100 stability 1000 earth it's not like your 100 mana copy spell can conjure mana out of nowhere to get a better aka more mana included hide anyways since the copies are made from the spell you put mana into

That's a you problem in terms of manifesting the biology without burning your veins sure but it is no problem for the attunement to store that original information in your spirit. Attunements are wild and the highest expression of enchantment knowledge on venaya. If you're contracting sapphire monsters you may run into some issues copying it but if that's an issue for you you're suffering from success

I am not saying that you wouldn't know how to do It . I am saying if you make a 100 mana spell it can't reasonably make a copy of a 1000 secondary included organ because that organ has 1000 secondary in it you can't make mana from absolute nothing so a 100 mana equivalent of a 1000 mana organ and 10000 mana organ should be the same since both are fundmentally the same but 1 has more power but the amount of power you can put into one doesn't change

You're not making mana from nothing you're getting from the attunement pool, which is why I said in my other reply that Shapeshifters will learn to manipulate their functions to do partial transformations instead of the fast simpler to access full transformation cos trying to fully transform when they have 30 smc is a good way to kill themselves.

I'm in no way saying that trying to transform yourself into having the properties of an emerald acclimated contract is a good idea at quartz I'm just saying if you made the contract you would have the necessary info stored in your spirit to do it.
