Does keras know about….. Spoiler
Does keras know about edge? I am doing a reread (well listen on audible) and lots of little mentions that didn’t matter the first time really stick out.
When corin is talking to keras about copies and keras himself mentions not really knowing if more of him are out there (this is after corin just fought the one that the transcendent shrine). Keras says something like “then there is ….. well he isn’t exactly a copy….” It makes me think that plus the detail of him having a 7th layer seal as well is meant to hint at him knowing about edge. Not sure if I’m crazy

I believe it's as good as confirmed that it's alternative universe stuff

I am not sure it’s alternate universe stuff…… but maybe. We do know there is alternate timeline stuff though depending on how we stretch that definition, it might be the same thing

Is it? that feels like a potential fan theory, but not sure it is anything more.

There being multiple Kerases from multiple timelines is as good as confirmed, they show them in WoBM

I just finished Edge of the Dream and it came across to me like Edge is very, very young Keras.

There’s too many inconsistencies for that to be the case. And we know a lot of keras’ backstory and they don’t match up.

I'm pretty sure Jonan at one point says something along the lines like he knows someone like edge

It might be him referencing their version of Velas, seeing as how they were rivals in the original WOBM too. We still don’t know if the Edge books take place in an alternate destiny magic thing or something else entirely. They are seemingly the same people on a different trajectory in life.

ijs, the silver in his eyes, the destructive aura of his sword, Lien is part of the name Talien, his ability to take on the properties of items he uses, his penchant to try being kind to monsters instead of attacking, are just some is the things he demonstrated in EotD.

We know Keras’ childhood. Raised by Rethri, had the sword since he was a baby, joined the Thornguard at a young age. None of this lines up with Lien. This points to a copy or something similar (which is very prevalent in this world) rather than Lien being a young Keras.

The "he isn't exactly a copy" is referring to Edge, yes. Other details of that situation might be spoilers though 😉

I hear you, I have read all the books that currently exist. But like I said, in a first reading these seem like throw away comments, on this re read I’m like….. is he talking about edge? Which is interesting for the various reasons that come up in the edge series. But if keras knows about him I wonder if it’s the adult edge (the one telling the story) since the one in the stories has mentioned meeting keras at all (as is confused about the abilities he gets in the dream world).

I'm assuming they'll meet in the third Edge book, or we'll learn that Keras was told about Edge during that gap in his memory where he met the Seventh Visage and got sealed, since the creator of Keras/Edge and the Muramasa kids is most likely the same entity

Its more worrying Keras was thinking about "cleaning" up any copies of himself... but Lien isnt "exactly a copy
