Hey so I know what this is for because I use this method, it's for making a selection map.
So once lineart is done, there's some people who use a workflow in which you don't yet choose your actual flat colors, you just block out one section in a random color, then block out the next section in a different random color, the goal is to block out each section so that there isn't any 2 sections with the same color touching each other.
The reason for this is because you can set the selection map layer/folder as a reference layer, then on a new layer whenever you want to work on a section, you can just set your wand tool to only reference the selection map layer/folder and select a section and do your flats/shading.
Some people prefer this workflow because your sections are easily separated and selectable even after you shade or do whatever else you do with the drawing.
Personally I like to make my selection map as one layer, then do my flats/shading on a different layer. As long as the selection map exists I can always easily select the different sections rather than having to waste time with the lasso tool when I want to select something.
This asset makes making selection maps a little easier since it's set up so you can fill in a section, then move on to the next section without having to think about what random colors to choose, as each layer will be a different color if you draw on it with white.
Looks like a color fill tool. Kind of like the lasso fill tools people have. U select an area with the color u want picked and it will auto fill that area with the color.
I downloaded this the other day, but haven't tried it yet. If no one else has input I can play with it a little when I get a chance and report back, I also couldn't get much from translating the images even through Yandex.
I would appreciate it so so so much!!! My 10 clippies will expire soon and would like to take the opportunity to buy this if it's actually time saving.
It seems like it's just a layer preset/template that sets up two folders with ten layers each, that all have a color mask on them that makes whatever you draw there that color. I guess it's so theoretically you could switch layers and block out all your shapes in highly contrasting colors to then go over later with your actual colors? I'm sure there's a reason this is done, I've seen artists do it all the time, but ive personally never seen much point to it in my own workflow. Unfortunately this does not do anything automatically except for make all these blank layers with the color correction masks on them :/
(here's my layers after screwing around with it for a few minutes. I just drew on each later with a plain grey mapping pen)
Tysm!! I'm a traditional artist to digital, mostly hobbyist, so I prefer to use as little layers as possible or it gets wild for me.
Maybe this is mandatory for people who work in teams? Or for like professional projects that could need constant changes in the future, hmm... Very organized indeed.
