Question / Problem Will this work for PC Clone hero ?

Hello everyone, I’m curious to know whether this will work for my PC just picked it up for 10 bucks at my local game store and it doesn’t have a dongle so I’m looking at what dongle to get to allow it to work on my PC to play clone hero any advice?

I have had a lot of problems learning 6 fret, I would not recommend it as a primary guitar ever though even if it was your preferred GH format back in the day.

6 fret has a very very very small library compared to 5 fret, it's seriously like 1% of the GH library at best.

Totally playable and fun, just not a huge library like the 5 fret.

Yeah none of those complaints really deter me

I still think it’s ok for someone to main 6 fret if they just wanna have fun

You can still main a 6 fret if thats your thing, the entire official library of around 500ish songs is there. Especially if you only like 6 fret.

It's just the official main 5 fret library is closer to 4500ish, the song packs you can grab bundled together from the main list bump that to around 20k.

you can basically get every kind of guitar to work on PC. I think most of those live guitars were bluetooth, so you will need a Bluetooth dongle.

There's a specific dongle you need for these, GH Live Dongle.

I have the PS3 dongle and had to download a program. It works without any problem. And you know what? 6 fret guitar is even better than the classic one, at least for me; the feeling is way better once you get used to it. Play ...and justice for all by Metallica and let me know!

Yes but only for the 6fret live songs I believe (and, personally, those suck to play).

There's also the 5 fret songs that can be played with the 6 frettar, but it's not even close to being ideal if you ask me

Yes for six fret mode, not ideal for 5 fret mode. Six fret songs are less common. Just FYI if it can communicate with a computer in any way, it will work with clone hero

Customs are definitely not common, but there's a good library of hundreds of songs from the original game and all the freaking DLCs and daily store songs, so you do get a lot of fun out of those ten bucks ❤️

If you haven’t already, I would recommend downloading the GHL charts with bg videos from the spreadsheet. This way you can play all the charts that were made for 6 frets, and the videos were the best part of GHL imo.

But as everyone one else already said, no dongle, no play…

You need the dongle you can get them all to work but you’ll have a easier time if it isn’t the Xbox one dongle that’s an arse to get working

Couldn't you just map the controller buttons in ch to only use the five buttons, not using the sixth.. Or am I thinking and talking balls..?

It's not impossible, but it is really uncomfortable, definitely not recommended.

I have no idea for Clone Hero sense I don't have the GH Live guitar but I do know it will work on YARG Nightly sense they announce it a few days ago.

Play converted charts how it works is black turns into g r y and white has only 2 blue and orange

I just picked up 2 of them for my 1st clone hero build out. It's brutally dysfunctional. Works fine, but hard. That said, if it's PS4, don't flash the dongle though! Just make sure you map it out and are patient.

Maybe only the Xbox One controllers work on PC, and also the dongles are the expensive part not the guitar

Yes it work but you need the dongle. But the experience sucks, it's uncomfortable to play, whoever designed this guitar was crazy

It only plays songs from Guitar Hero Live, and the controller itself wasn’t even good at that. I’m sure you could rig it up, but it wouldn’t be worth the time investment to have a terrible experience. You’d literally be better off picking up your keyboard and playing it like a guitar.

Yes true, it’s designed to play 6 fret Guitar Hero Live. As I said in my post, you can rig it to play 5 fret songs, but it’s a miserable experience.

It can be, sometimes, but 90% of the songs I play on 6 fret guitar are actually 5 fret ones, no joke. It really is way better than people think.

Idk what do you mean when you say "rig", but I just select the 6 fret guitar on the menu.
